Why not just pretend you are Lebron Melo? Why?
I think there's a case to be made that his skillset sometimes works against him. Lebron has improved tremendously as a shooter, but he is most effective when he is going to the rim. If he sees that his paths to the rim are blocked off, he'll stop to see what else he can make happen. Melo, to his detriment, can score on almost every play and is a great midrange shooter. This leads to him often thinking that him taking the shot is always the best option even when it's not.
Plus Lebron has trust in his teammates. I mean, every guy on the heat (less Birdman, Udonis and Anthony) can knock down three's consistently. Melo doesn't have that luxury.
The question that always comes to mind when I think of Carmelo is: what's going to be his legacy? A pure scorer who couldn't find a good team? A selfish player who was more a detriment to his teams than an asset? A Robin with no Batman? When I think of Carmelo, I think of one of the best iso players of all time; I think that's how I'll remember him too. It's really a shame.
Pardon the Interruption looking back at their perceptions of Lebron (and some early insights about Melo too). Coming out of the draft there were many who considered Melo's ceiling higher than Lebron's -- Michael Wilbon for example, in the video.
Two observations I want to note: 1) Lebron's hype coming out of high school was exponentially greater than anything we are seeing with Wiggins, Parker and Randle. Today we have the social-media hype machine to force feed these guys down our throat. But even now it pales in comparison to the media generated by Lebron back in 02-03. 2) What makes LBJ so great is that his story is just incredible. It's a narrative that is unmatched by any other player in history.

Probably something similar to Iverson's legacy, with slightly less success
I didn't know Shaq played against Hank Gathers (that was cool). Don't remember reading that in the Bo Kimble book at least (prob forgot now). But Shaq had 12 blocks against him and he still got 48 points. He was a baaad man.
Oh look, it's the Defensive player of the year Deandre Jordan, so unlucky for him that Fisher is the fastest player in the league, or else he'd have reacted easily and made a superb defensive play.
