what this highlight doesnt even show: his amazing ability to make the game fast and play accurate passes almost as well as the worlds best play makers
bonus: he can throw balls as far as some amateur players can not even shoot them
I can never pass up the chance to link this:

Yeah i too am waiting for his statistics. A keeper isn't meant to be able to knock a 40 yard pass to feet, they are meant to stop goals first of all and anything on top of that is a bonus. Like Petr Cech is far behind any of the "newer" type goalkeepers of today, his distribution is down right awful at times, however i think i will still pick him over most others out there.
I will also still probably say Buffon is up there as a worlds best. He still gets Italy out of some holes with great saves just what you need.

*sight*...
Honestly its quite the opposite. Catching the ball well is something that around 100 players can do. Playing with their foot like Neuer is something no one can do right now.
Dont believe me, believe the numbers:
Player | Avg. passes | Pass suc.% | Accurate long balls per game Petr Cech | 17.3 | 53 | 4.8 Gianluigi Buffon | 13.8 | 80.7 | 3.3 Manuel Neuer | 25.2 | 85.6 | 5.7
It has something to do that Bayern is a ball possession team? Nope.
Victor Valdes 15.3 62.9 2.7
"But the others are better catching the ball which is way more important for a goalkeeper"
first i disagree
second this:

(from early 2013 sorry couldn´t find a better one but i dont think it changes that much)

Being in a team dominating it's championship, the average shot on goal is going to be 'easier' to defend compared to the average shot on goal against, say, Swansea.
It's really difficult to compare goalkeepers with statistics today.

It does have something with the style of play that the team (these data show that he is better than Valdes) has. Accurate long balls go in favor of your argument. Statistics are in his favor, but you also have to take into account in what team he plays and league (league obviously isn't much of an factor here since bundesliga is a strong league), but his team also "helps" him in a way.
No one is saying that he is a bad gk or that he doesn't belong in the world top 5-10, it's just nobody is totally convinced that he is undisputed no1.

Yea Cech, Buffon and Casilias play at such bad teams

while id agree that neuer is unparalleled in his passing skills amongst other goal keepers, as pande said earlier, its just a bonus. you look for goal keeping ability from goalkeepers, not passing ability. the only coach in the whole world who would look at a goalkeepers passing ability is the one neuer is playing for right now. and thats only cause pep plays like an 11 man midfield. ive seen neuer go full retard too many times (barthez style) to say hes the best. he might be up there within the top 5, but hardly an easy number 1

They don't and that isn't what anybody is saying. There aren't a lot of teams in Germany that can threaten Bayern right now. Teams might not even get a single chance if they don't try desperate attempts. (No I don't have any statistic to prove my point.) I sure believe that Neuer got rid of some weaknesses while others only disappeared because his team is so dominant.

Also another reason neuer is not the clear 1 is national tram performances
casillas and buffon (the best two in the world for me) constantly deliever for their national teams as well I don't think Neuer ever saved Germany in an important match.
on the other hand buffon and casillas played crucial roles in winning WCs

I think we should ask Neuer to take Llloris' place in Tottenham for a few games to see what he's really worth.

Muslera is the best, Neuer #2 Cech #3
Not biased at all :3
