Of course there are several good goalkeepers but Ive you're an objective person and had to pick one it has to be Neuer. I mean statistics proof it and his ability with the ball is unmatched by any other goalkeeper. I also dont understand why that wouldnt be important for a goalkeeper. Of course its not his primary task but in the end it contributes to winning games. Can't just ignore that.
All other arguments stated like he doesnt get as much open shots etc. are just speculation with no data to back it up.
Also I dont know why Buffon is even mentioned. Hes still good but he got old and isnt worldclass anymore. Hes nowhere near Neuer or Cech.
I'm in the Neuer camp as well That said, pre-injury Cech was the best goalkeeper I've ever witnessed. Commanding, fearless and insane stopping ability. That guy was a tank with cheetah reflexes.
Anyone knows here what happened to Akinfeev? Last i remember he was supposed to be next big thing but he got injured or smtgh and i've never heard of him again.
Hes top 5 for sure. I didnt want to start a discussion. All i can say is that skillwise in terms of passing and handling the ball he is just the best and better than some players even.
Best games I have seen from Neuer were two games with Schalke. Porto vs Schalke ( Rather Neuer vs Porto) and Schalke vs ManU, Ferguson said after the match: "He was the best goalkeeper against us, I truly thought we were unable to score against him."

i remember there were rumours that MU wanted to buy him before they got De Gea. Seems that injury affected his improving. The guy is just avergae atm. He still plays in CSKA Moscow, a couple of days ago Akinfeev concided 4 goals in second time against Dynamo Moscow after his team were leading 2-0 in HT lol (ex-chelsea player Yuri Zhirkov scored twice and made an assist in this match btw). Though he is #1 in national squad i must admitt.
One guy to look out for is Jan Oblak (like Mensol, I'm also very unbiased). He's 21 and has conceded only 1 goal in 12 matches for Benfica this season.

He was terrible in the Dynamo vs CSKA game this weekend.
Personally, I'm split between Neuer and Valdes. Neuer probably makes less mistakes and sweeps the crosses better, but Valdes often saves impossible chances (which Neuer hardly has to face with almost 80% posession).
I think Neuer is the best GK Bayern could have. I don't think he'd be the best for a mid-low table PL team.
Also agreeing that pre-injury Cech was the best I've ever seen, he's still great but he permanently lost some fearlessness and GK's greatly benefit from being fearless.
Well, the best I've ever seen was Peter Schmeichel during MU's Champions League run in 1999 (apart from his performance in the final, where he was as bad as the rest of his team). Oh, and also Oliver Kahn in Korea/Japan 2002 World Cup.
Compared to those two, Cech is close but no cigar.
To be fair though, Kahn actually fucked up pretty big in the actual finals.. Definitely the best I've seen up until that point, but Brazil's 1-0 goal in the final was a big mistake from his behalf.
