hhmm, seems like there are many fans from england in this thread. since you guys follow EPL more closely than I do, my question is: do you think manutd will recover or is it a sinking ship? like... is one horrible season simply necessary to make the cut from the fergie era and to move forward - or is the squad just outmatched on the individual level, regardless of tactics or team chemistry?

The biggest problem is morale and the general mood in the team I think.
Even a good coach would have trouble turning this around, let alone Moyes.

I have no idea why Vidic would announce this news now. The club will have to wait until summer anyway to find replacements. He could have also told the management in private rather than announcing it to the public. Vidic will have no problems finding suitors either way. Making this announcement now in the middle of the season when Utd still has a chance to qualify for Europe only demoralizes the team even more. I think it's clear Evans should only be a third central defender rather than in the starting pair. Jones makes too many mistakes but may become great eventually. Otherwise new signings need to be made.

It's not a certainty either way. Based on the talents but also the weaknesses of the squad you can see it going in both directions. It depends on how Moyes takes control of the direction of the squad, with whoever else is guiding its evolution.

well, ajax has a history of not winning as many titles as they should, considering how good they play. i still remember that one season where ajax was raping the whole league and was winning every match 4-0 or 5-0 for several months straight; had 85 points and a goal diff of +80 something (which is great in a 34 games league), but still didnt win the championship.

I often think that goal difference actually tells a more true story than points anyway.. I think so far this PL season, City has been the best team - which is not reflected in points but definitely in goal difference.

I think we're the only club in the league who scored more than 100 goals without winning it and it has happened multiple times as well. The 2009/2010 season was still with Suarez and that season probably made Liverpool buy him he was so sick that season..
