We seem at the moment not good enough/confident enough to beat teams who play 10men behind the ball and try counter.
Honestly against these kind of teams there is no reason to not play both Oscar and Mata. That should give you more than enough creativity from midfield to beat them and Ramirez has enough enough stamina to handle the defensive side.
Yeah Mourinho touched on it in his interview. Mata first is not fit, he is not at the level he needs to be, also he needs to change the way he defends. He doesn't press the ball like Hazard and Oscar do, that is the reason he finds himself not playing
I actually really liked the interview with Jose. Finally a good reason why Mata isn't playing. I got a much better idea of what he's trying to accomplish now. He wants Mata to do defensive work as well. And with him saying that he wants Oscar and Mata to both play and the way he talks about Hazard I feel like the idea is to have those three play and to eventually switch to something like a 4-1-4-1 system when he thinks that Mata is ready.
If we get there this team is going to be immensely scary.

Is the interview available on youtube?
Makes sense though, if Mata can cover some of the defensive duties you basically have the best of both worlds.

That man likes Hazard way too much for his own good

Doesn't look like it is xD But yeah it is typical mourinho, and he says the style he wants to chelsea to play is a team who is comfertable in possesion and can press the ball when they don't have it. So basically i guess barcelona style?/Bayern style where your a good team that play with the ball and when you don't have it you pressssssssure. What Chelsea haven't done in a while xD And well Mata is a touch bit lazy at that.
And Luiz and Mata in the Basel game cost the goals so thats why they were dropped. Mata stood still in the middle of the pitch whilst they passed around him and scored the 2nd. And well Luiz is Luiz :D
I still have a problem with Mourinho here, I feel like he's trying to force the style he likes and is comfortable with instead of using the personnel Chelsea has to their potential.
Chelsea doesn't have the personnel to play their old style of long diagonal balls anymore, that's exactly what he was saying. They have a team of small, fast, technical players and they need to create intricate passing lanes, not lump it up field for their CF to hold. Kick it long and Drogba would hold it up, earn a free kick, or steamroll his defender and do something amazing all on his own.

I don't understand at all, their newer personnel and necessary game plan is focused on small, fast technical players and intricate passing lanes, so that's why Mourinho is making sense to be benching their most technical player and visionary passer? It seems like that's what you are saying. That old Chelsea is completely irrelevant and has nothing to do with whether Mata and Oscar can play together or not.

Don't they already have Kagawa to fill that same bench-warmer position?

Yes but Mata doesn't work hard on defense, and Oscar has been fantastic in the 10 role. He also does the hard work pressing.

I don't believe they need to press like a Barcelona, they still have a very solid back 5 that can play dropped off some of the time (unlike Barcelona) with a few other pressing workers. They can afford to let other teams have the ball a bit. That's just a notion Mourinho is bringing to this for some reason, they can now only play this envisioned pressing style all the time.
Not surprised that Augsburg lost, but the way they lost. A 1-1 draw away at Hannover (who have 4 wins in 4 home games) would have been a good result, but Ostrzolek conceded a penalty for a handball in the 89th minute to give Hannover the win : /

I always say Liverpool only turn up vs the big teams, and when they are faced with teams /defending and /counter they just fall apart and lose games they shouldn't They in big trouble 1-0 down at home to Southampton atm
Southampton aren't really a defending/counterattacking team though. Under Pochettino they play a high defensive line and focus on pressing the other team's players and condensing the space in midfield. Remember, the last time (and only time) that Liverpool played against Pochettino's Southampton, they lost 3-1.
Plus Rodgers made an odd tactical decision by playing four center backs (Agger, Skrtel, Toure, and Sakho).

Exactly, it's like benching iniesta or messi cause they are not pressuring that much.
