He was shooting better than he was in Orlando until he had to come off the bench. He was also by far their best scorer. Even if his defense is atrocious I still don't understand. I agree that the Jrue trade isn't nearly as good as it looks. He basically had a ridiculous hot start then cooled off significantly as the season went on. Austin Rivers either had a rough time cuz injuries kept breaking his rhythm or is outright bad, imo the latter is more likely. Trading away Noel is fine but I definitely don't think he's redundant with Davis as Noel looks to be a true center and I don't know if Davis is. Aminu had a good first couple of months until he got benched. I think he can still improve and be the Trevor Ariza NO wanted.
Edit: Had Anderson on my fantasy team last season. The box score I saw the most often was him putting up 30 off the bench and being the only guy to score in double figures. And also Rivers playing 30min and going like 1-6 for 4 pts when he's there to score.
Anderson didn't "start" but he played more minutes than any other front court player on the team, really. He was at 31 mpg while davis was at 29 and Lopez at 26.
The thing that was baffling a lot of the time was that Monty would keep in Ryan and Lopez instead of Ryan and Davis when Davis was lighting it up. I guess Monty didn't trust Davis to play Center yet because he was too light and still learning the game.
Aminu's first couple of months were atrocious, that's why he got benched. When Monty unbenched him he started playing much better.

well he was accused of getting doc fired...pretty significant =/
oh damn, i didn't even realise he was refering to Doc when he said Glenn. :|

Doc claims that Simmons tried to get him fired. Simmons denied it. Simmons has a pretty big e-penis and can be a dummy but I think Doc is in the wrong here. Simmons has been pretty transparent in his opinions.

How would Simmons have enough pull anywhere to get him fired? Seems kind of ridiculous to me, unless I'm missing something

He's probably talking about the column Simmons wrote years ago

I don't think Doc means it in such a literal sense. He means it in a way of how a writer/journalist can influence the fans.
Boston fans, I am assuming, really like Bill Simmons. It is his hometown, and a lot of them have probably read his books (they are some of the most educated sports fans) but of course know him through grantland and espn.
edit: clarity

I'm pretty sure that tweet was taken out of context. Bill Simmons DID demand for Doc to get fired. Called him the worst coach around before the celtics pulled off those deals for Ray and KG and went on a title run.
click it
I'm pretty sure Doc was on about how Simmons always kind of had it in for him and this is an easy excuse for him to go back to slandering Doc's name. Simmons is clearly in the wrong, here -- management undoubtedly wants to rebuild and Doc didn't, and didn't want to coach Rondo anymore, so they amicably parted ways. The only people who "gave up" on the Celtics were their FO who are trying to tank for a really good draft next year
kinda reminds me of when they went on the world's greatest tank job for Duncan, then didn't get it

I think you're way off. Simmons wouldn't have had it in for Doc if the Celtics were good - he is a homer through and through. The Celtics just weren't good, so Simmons "had it in" for everyone.
Secondly, Doc Rivers signed a contract. The Celtics did not want him to go coach elsewhere - they wanted him to coach their team - hence the contract. Doc Rivers wanted to leave, which is not wrong inherently, but Simmons saw this as betrayal. So he hyped it up because he has a penchant to do so in his writing. But his point is fair, and he was "inbounds," he's not a journalist, he's a columnist with a pro- Boston slant.

Doc is sick of the 'quitting on the team' horse crap that Simmons had been spouting for days leading up to the draft. Both Doc, and Ainge, have said that it was an ongoing dialogue during the whole point up the deal. I cannot reasonably defend Simmons 'quitting' part. That is just Simmons casting a negative light on Doc when he has the chance. And therein lies my beef with the whole thing - Simmons is fan first, journalist/analyst second. Part of it is what makes him interesting. The other part, like now, makes you just want to slap him around simply to get him to stop.

That's not the point, he's overreacting to an out of context twitter quote and calling a man a liar. It's like an ESPN kneejerk reaction where he didn't, you know, actually read or hear the fucking interview before not only accusing him of lying, but tossing in a thinly veiled fucking threat to boot.
Simmons is a short sighted buffoon who can't realize that being bad the next two years is better than being mediocre the next two years and bad the next 4 because atleast this year you can stumble into a good draft class. Many a coach on many a team has left after their roster gets taken apart, Simmons is treating this like some affront to humanity and him, personally, and has set to attacking him constantly ever since it happened. When Doc responds by blowing it off by pointing out this isn't the first time Simmons overreacted and attacked him, Simmons gets more defensive.
I don't care if he's an entertaining columnist, he's being a giant baby who's overreacting to everything. You don't call a man a liar and threaten him because you read an out of context quote to an interview you've got no other info on. It's idiotic.
