@Infinity, glenn pendlay has a video about how people do back extensions that are really hip extensions. Search that up on youtube and try some of those.

While most of us can probably go by feel and figure out when we need to back off, this might be a more scientific approach to plan your program. I want to try it, but hopefully someone is more knowledgeable on this here. link to website: http://www.bioforcehrv.com/ robb wolf's podcast with the creator Joel Jameson: http://robbwolf.com/2012/03/06/joel-jamieson-heart-rate-variability-paleo-solution-podcast-122/ John kiefer's podcast with Joel Jameson: https://soundcloud.com/dh-kiefer/biojacked-radio-24-joel

There is not a single one like that in Chile other than a few crossfit ones that are either terribly located or too small (and have rogue bars at best) BTW, would love feedback on taishan/zhang khong barbells as I'm planning to import soon (will weight against prize) I've actually had my Zhang Kong less than a week. If you want to ask any questions or want any pictures in particular just ask. I can confirm the spin is fantastic, spins forever, so decaf must've had one that'd been abused. The knurling has a crazy high number of lines, which means it's quite soft but with chalk or dry hands it's very grippy. If you have sweaty hands though the result is it's not as grippy because the cuts in the bar aren't as wide or deep, kind of like with car tyres where the cuts allow water to escape from under the tyre but in dry conditions there's less surface area. The bar has a crazy amount of whip to it. Overall it's my favourite bar to have done olympic lifting with, on par with the old Eleikos. I tried a lot of bars before getting this one, but your preferences may differ.

I'm starting to get the "build a home gym" bug again, and I want to get a Texas Power Bar and a decent but not super expensive Oly bar, like maybe a Rogue or something. This looks doable and not too expensive: + Show Spoiler +

I don't know about what's available in the US, but a few pages back a couple of guys said Rogue bars are crap. They're not a brand that's over in the UK really so I don't know myself.

How about discs quality? Is there even such a thing? They have "competition discs" and "training discs" with different prices. Zhang Khong alone has 5 different bars.

Disc quality is usually just the way they're constructed. Cheap ass bumper plates just have like a metal ring in the middle and the rubber ends up cracking and everything falls to shit. Nicer ones (any decent training set) have the middle of the plate that you slide on to the bar is actually built into the disc so that shit doesnt fall apart. Then competition ones are usually super not-bouncy, when you drop that shit it hits like a rock lol. And competition bumpers and barbells have to meet IWF standards for dimensions and whatnot.

+ Show Spoiler + ![]() ![]() As decaf said, they have that shit metal ring in the middle, and it tends to get loose over time and the disc starts cracking from the center out. For personal use I think they're pretty durable, but If they're being used in classes 5 or 6 times a day then they won't last long, the 25lbs and 10lbs discs are specially fragile. Rogue sells this kind of disc as "Rogue HG plates" I believe. The Hi-Temp plates are super durable but they're so fucking thick, you can't load up a bar with over 200kg or so. If you get the more expensive discs they'll last pretty much forever so it's worth the money. I want to buy a Pendlay bar and plates so baaaad. Someday.

There's a Pendlay bar at my gym that is very un-impressive, rusted and doesn't spin for shit, but it's a powerlifting/strongman gym mostly so it probably just got beat to hell (wuts a kilo?). The ones on the website look awesome. @Deadeight, ever since you posted that picture I've been obsessed with building a home gym. After screwing around in Google Sketchup a little I figured out that I can fit a lifting platform, a small power cage and a car in my garage with some room to spare. Home gym sketchup

btw speaking of home gyms, whats a good way of buying a pullup bar. I something like this http://www.ironmind-store.com/NEW-ALight-Training-Center/productinfo/1480/ For training plates, I would go for the cheaper sets, doesnt really matter if they crack that much.

There's definately been a rediculous development (from 67kg on June 2011 to the 97kg I am now). Still got a long way to go though. Holy shit. That's some great progress. I took my 50 year old dad to the gym today! He actually has a very muscular build, probably genetics + martial arts from when he was younger. His legs and especially his calves are actually pretty fucking rediculous.
