Take the before pictures whenever really, I still have some pics from when I was still under 70kg lying around (93kg atm, hoping to be around 100kg by summertime).

Cleaned for 2nd time today, it seems I need to fix 3 things:
1) Learn to Squat again
2) Pull elbows up instead of back
3) Not jump backwards

Also, a question. Today I learn to catch at the bottom and it feels I'm not using all my strength to pull the bar up. Like I'm cutting my pull to get down. Is that ok ? When I pull as hard as I can I can't get down (and the bar goes up too high).

Here, my beastly 75kg clean (lol)

I think I know what you mean gotunk, and I always had the same problem with it. If you focus on getting under the bar as fast as you can, you don't end up getting a good pull, and you feel like it was a bad lift. If you focus on getting a good pull, you're too late under the bar and you end up doing a power clean instead. That the kind of thing you're talking about?

In comparing this to one of decaf's videos, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Tok2oA_o6k) it seems to me that a lot of these problems will fix themselves as you move up in weight. By the time you get halfway done your pull, just because of how strong you already are, the weight is at your chest anyway. That's why there's no need to really get low, fast. There's also a bit of a pause during your jump - it takes you an extra half a second to go from "pulling the weight" to "pulling yourself under" which just changes the position of everything involved here. That's a problem with basically everyone who's ever been a beginning weightlifter though AFAIK. Drill the shit out of that transition.

Finally your pull seems like it's all one speed, rather than accelerating as the movement goes on... but again, probably also a factor of the weight being low for you, and it'll fix itself in time?

Obviously take everything mentioned with a grain of salt since I've only ever spent ~2 months doing oly lifting, and even that was a while ago.

I agree with phyre, I too am not an expert by any means But you're soooooo damn strong that if you use all your strength in the pull you'll just throw it straight up in the air Once you're moving more weight you'll be able to pull hard and try to get under fast and not screw either I'd imagine

Phyre is pretty spot on. It's a total mindfuck of pulling the shit out of the bar and getting under as fast as you can. Yes you're not going to need to use all your strength on 75kg, but you still want to get under it just as fast as you would if you were going for 200kg. Practice practice practice practice practice is the only solution. A bit of coaching/feedback helps as well. I'm still working on consistently getting my hips all the way through on the pull (i would say i have a smidge more pull left in that 166kg phyre linked). I'd say this is my best example of finishing ALL the way AND getting under it quickly (even though it's obv a power) + Show Spoiler +


Btw was fucking around with squat jerks since i'm still a wreck from drinking all day saturday...


Extremely fucking exhausting. And if you're off by half an inch you're screwed. But so fun!!

I think Zatics second point could be a good market niche. There are no women I know of doing serious videos about lifting, loads about yoga or whatever though.

It's probably good from a marketing standpoint, but it doesn't really make a difference does it? Men and Women's techniques aren't any different? Though I guess women might encounter different problems.
