Thats a terrible excuse, no player will ever admit they lack hunger, if they do your accusing them of something worse than just playing poorly. Your saying they are playing poorly because they dont care. That is probably the single worst thing for a competitor in any game to be accused of.
Thats bullshit. They may be jaded sure, but so what ? If your good enough these things dont matter.
I didnt say them not having a plan b is a bad thing, Im just saying they dont have one, this current team will probably never have one and thats fine.
Bottom line is the way they play requires a level of talent and execution that is historically unparalleled. The margin for error is 0, if your not good enough to manage it against a top team, well ... then you get thrashed like this every so often.
Doesnt mean they need to change anything drastically in their philosophy? No then they wouldnt be the Barca we know and love. But their missing pieces to do it and thats showing.
And thats not necessarily anything to do with sticking to La Masia, player developement isnt magic.
If you all had seen Puyol and Valdez during their younger days, there was nothing particularly impressive about them.
|
Yeah the squad will always have the risk of being shallow if you stubbornly rely on la masia rather than bringing in talent. None of these recent youth products are really that good. None of them are really of the talent level of Varane for example. I haven't been convinced by Song at all in Barca, Fabregas continues to misfire. Arsenal are really unlucky for losing them, cos they were great in Arsenal but not nearly as good in Barca.
It just has to be repeated again and again: Bayern and Dortmund played MAJESTIC football and destroyed two unbelievably stacked teams. Fucking incredible. Of course BvB are the most impressive team that world football has seen in a long time. But Bayern beating Barca 7-0 is one of the most incredible results ever. The most Barca has ever been beaten by!

Pretty sure old barcelona on a good day and THIS Bayern on a good day would be pretty even.
Bayern play the exact counter to Barcelona.

Whats that...actually defend with defenders and have a striker on the pitch with wingers who cross the ball?

you know the excuse of not being hungry could have worked LAST year, but this year they had all the motivation to do something.
Bayern third time in CL final in four years.

And Real Madrid being really really hungry to win the national title back. Just look at this season now? Real Madrid won last year, now they don't feel obligated to win this year, and they are far behind Barcelona... At this level, psychology is almost everything...

O unconsciously lowering their levels because they dont have a thirst for titles....
Right, its not like they dont care, they dont have a "thirst", so if anything they do care but just not enough to want to win titles ?
That logic doesnt even apply to Sunday league teams, these days. (ok maybe it does a little)
Right... Sacchi can say whatever he wants, hes not on the pitch playing with them.
They have 3 CL wins in the last 10, its not exactly like their smashing CL win records left and right either.

Biggest aggregate defeat in Champions League history in the semi final. And it happened to Barcelona, the supposed 'greatest team ever'. I think it's safe to say Bayern are the best team in the world. That really was an anti-climax by Barca though. Considering how well Real did and how close they were to winning. Barcelona got outplayed in both legs, in every aspect of the game. Including passing. Didn't even use Messi. Don't see Tito being their for long to be honest, even though it isn't really his fault (health issues and what not).

If you want to declare yourself the winner, whatever it is your winning sure. But this lack of hunger bs is a cancer no great player will allow themselves to get. They might stop being good enough and other people might catchup, so they pick themselves up and improve. "Wanting it" more than everyone else has never been the sole factor anyway.

Stop playing these stupid games, you made a stupid comment deal with it.
Sacchi said it.. lol
Pele and Maradona say tons of dumb shit all the time. But Sacchi, o heavens no, hes got Xavi on a sofa pouring his heart out to him 3 times a week.
