Crohn's sucks. My friend has it. I can't even imagine trying to eat 4,000 calories with Crohn's disease. There are days where he can barely stomach a piece of french toast without extreme pain.

A lot of people with Chron's and similar inflammatory-based digestive issues have improved massively by eschewing grains, gluten and dairy.

If I were to do a proper max attempt on my squat, I would expect around 130kg (285lb) but I'm not giving myself enough rest time to pull off a "real" 1rm. Highest lift I've made is 113.5kg (250lb) x5, then followed by 9 triples at the same weight, fuck smolov. Deadlifted for the first time today since october. Pulled my old max (134kg) with ease and would expect to be able to at least pull 145kg now. It's amazing what putting 70+ pounds on your squat will do for literally everything else you do. lift big or go shit. :D
yesterday was such a shit day, I had to cut 2/3 of my workout because my abductor was hurting really bad. I managed to workout through pain my front squat sets and well, I'm not happy about them either. Imma try 100kg on monday. fuck yes.

In other news, my back muscles are somewhat of an "amusement" to my girl. She touched them and also, had a fun time touching my ass (wtf?). win-win situation? ;D

yup. It's pretty nice, but, if you're a graphic designer, it tends to get in the way.

I don't really participate too much in the thread, but I always feel more accountable for my training if I keep my logs on a public forum, so here goes: Sunday: Squat 1x3 140kg BP - 1x3 80kg Close Grip Chinups - 12-10-8 Today: Push Press - 1x2 65kg (I tried for a normal press, but apparently training after a Calculus test doesn't do well for your lifts) Press - 1x2 60 Deadlift - 1x3 140kg Close Grip Chinups - 10-8-6
Still getting back to my numbers after losing about 13kg and taking a month off lifting after that.

Just finished my workout, was pretty grueling. Working out after dinner is so odd.
Squat 105kg 5-5-5 PR Power clean 67kg 3-3-3-3-2 Press 51kg 5-4-5 Chins 5-3-3
Squatting today was good, for some reason I could barely finish the fourth rep of the second set - but 5th rep was a breeze. My wrist finally feel good again doing chins, so happy

Yeah it ain't easy, I started bulking up 6 months ago and with Crohn's I obviously I have a disadvantage. I read that people with crohn's burn calories at a faster rate then the average person and of course I've spent a lot of nights "in the washroom" but pain-wise I've been careful to keep that in check.

I did do that few years back but honestly I'm one of the lucky ones where I can eat most food and not be bothered by it. For me, the main catalyst of how my crohn's behaves is my depression and emotional state for the most part.

At that weight and height you should add some muscle and not diet down, atleast that's what I'd do. I'm 6'0" and weigh 76kg and consider myself skinny

Hey! Thanks for the reply. To most people these numbers seem healthy. If you saw a picture of me, however, you'd quickly realize that I have a very skinny build, BUT that I have about 20-30 lbs of fat around my waistline. It's really strange, but it's from the nature of what I do, which involves sitting most of the day. If I can rid myself of 30 lbs of that fat, I can start fresh and bulk up from 130 lbs.
I've tried to bulk from my current weight of 160, while maintaining a good exercise routine. The waistline would just not disappear, and I think the problem was that I didn't go through a cutting phase before bulking and not the other way around. I'm not a fitness expert, but I think that was my problem. So this time around I want to cut before bulking
|
I don't think you realize how much 30 lbs of fat really are.
Of course your waistline won't disappear from bulking, how would it? You need to lose fat, while bulking you won't lose fat. It's much much harder to diet down and cleanbulk up. If you don't wanna straight bulk just do some kinda recomp program like IF. And get on a decent weight training routine, not that weird ass p90x stuff.

Weight training has become pretty frustrating the last couple of months, most of my PRs where with an additional 40kg of bodyweight. But now it seems I finally have accepted that and just don't let it get to me. It will be good again when I finally don't need to cut anymore. I will do a high volume routine for squats now (Korte 3x3), I learned that 5-3-1 just has way too low volume for me , and squatting to a daily max went ok, but is too mentally exhausting at the moment. And trying Smolov on a caloric deficit does probably not make mcuh sense. Let's see if I can somehow stop the everlasting downfall of my squat strength.
But at least some exercises become easier. Today I did Dips 5-5-5 @125,7kg BW. That was very sweet, when I get to 3x8 I can start weighted dips. Given that before christmas I could only do three dips for one set, that is pretty sweet progress. I still don't got my first chin-up. I am well above parallel now, but cannot get my head over the bar just yet. I assume it won't take longer than 4 weeks, but progress is very slow, I thought I would be able to do one by now. Still, it will happen soon

Don't do cleans though. You are literally one session behind or in front of me with every exercise and we weigh almost exactly the same as well. I guess I'm the odd one for having a much higher squat and bench relative to my DL and press. My DL was prob my best lift when I started but now it seems like it's the worst of the big 3 relatively speaking. (to put it in perspective, my work weights were 315 DL, 275 squat, and 195 bench in lbs) Presses don't count Dai you should give oly lifting a shot. It's super fun :D Haha, one of the things I'm hoping weightlifting will teach me is perseverance which is probably the main reason I haven't started oly lifting yet. If I did oly lifting, I would replace chin-ups with something like power cleans. However, chin-ups is the exercise I'm making the least progress in at the moment, so I don't want to be a quitter and swap it out. I might swap it out once I get comfortable doing 3x5 chin-ups (with 10kg weighted). That way I won't feel like a quitter :p I'm getting pretty close to reaching a 3x5 on chin-ups. I can now regularly finish my first set, and can get between 4.5 and 4.8 on the second set. The third set is still trashy (+- 3.5), but once I get comfortable finishing the first two sets, the third set will surely follow.
