Bench (90kg):
Squat (147.5kg):
Chin-up (17.5kg):
All of these lifts were PRs and the first set of 3x5. Any comments or suggestions? I feel reasonably good about everything but I know there's room for improvement.

I think every person's a little bit different, I'm the same as you though, I find chins far harder after OHP than after Bench, but your mileage may vary, I used to be the other way around so who knows? ![]() On December 13 2012 06:08 Daigomi wrote: Doing some end of year videos to track my progress. The hardest obstacle was the second time I did the electroshock therapy in the end. I got hit four times really hard and I almost blacked out while trying to carry the team's flag. All of the stupid wires caught on the flag pole and coalesced on to my hand and brushed up on to my face ![]() Here are a few pictures of the event: ![]() Me on the left before the race started ![]() Closeup. The weird looking "R" is my team's logo if you haven't figured it out yet ![]() ![]() Jumping off into the water. The plunge is surpsingly longer than it looks from afar.. ![]() The co-founder of the team finishing the race like a boss! ![]() The after pic. Remember, those shirts were white to begin with... My goals for 2013 is to complete the NASA half ironman in May and then compete at Mt.Killington, VT at the end of the year for the Spartan UltraBeast. I'm going to hit those goals by running lesser mudrun 5k events like Warrior Dash multiple times during the day with a ruck sack. Wish me luck! If any of you guys are interested in endurance/mud/obstacle running let me know. I honestly didn't think I had it in me 2 years ago but it's surprising what your body is capable of doing if you train safely and consistently.

Also, today got 50lb pull-ups 3x5 :DDD Jumped 5lb after taking 3 workouts to get 45 last two weeks. Some days you just have it. Good finish to the year, gym closes tomorrow at noon.

EDIT: Do not drink a lot if your tolerance isn't up there. If you run immediately after you can really hurt yourself.

It's something to aspire to, really. 2013 will be the year of the half ironman and the ultrabeast, but 2014 will usher in either the Ironman Hawaii or the Spartan Death Race (www.youmaydie.com).

I definitely find them easier to do on bench day, but as long as the chin/row/clean/whatever you're doing is done after the press, it wasn't too big a concern imo.

I actually prefer to do pull-ups with bench and chin-ups with press but I can't control it with my current program: Chin-ups every Wednesday, pull-ups every Sunday and then I alternate between press/bench on Wed/Fri/Sun. So every week I have one session of either chin-ups with bench or pull-ups with press. It's not too bad though. On December 13 2012 08:05 sJarl wrote: It's ok. You jump up on your first rep of chins - and the rest weren't really full range of motion either. Thanks! I had a chat with Infinity21 about exactly those two points last night. I don't think I jumped on the first rep but it definitely looks like it on the video :p I think what happens is, I bend my knees before starting to go down to the proper depth. The moment the depth is right I pull quite hard with my arms (without really using my legs) and since I'm not tired yet, I move up nice and quickly. I think the leg bend combined with the speed makes it look like a jump. I might just be making excuses though, perhaps I did jump, but I specifically paid attention to not jumping. In future I'll just start with my feet in the air to ensure that I can't jump. The ROM is trickier for me. I hurt my shoulders a while back with chin-ups so I'm nervous about going too deep. As long as my depth is 85-90% of what it should be I'm happy. I was quite nervous about recording the chin-ups since I thought my ROM might be closer to 60-75% of proper depth (same for squats). After looking at the video, I feel happy with the depth on 4 of those chin-ups, just the one rep could be a bit better.

I would actually recommend doing chins and bench on the same day. Because you better not have an armsday here at TLHF and it's nice muscle synergy between the exercises. If anything I guess you wouldn't want to OHP and do pullups but I don't get that either it's a bitch but it's not supposed to be easy.. There's no right and wrong you would have to look at it case to case on how your routines are set up. In the world of lifting everything is personal (except squat and DL). -- Went on a crazy shopping spree yesterday when I was ordering my protein and decided to go for all the premiums, ended up getting supplements for ~320€ hehe there are some sweet christmas deals at gymgrossisten if you're from Sweden. So I ended up buying 8kg of protein, 7 months worth of fishoil, a piece of chalk, 2kg of L-glutamine and as bonuses I got 2x bottles of BCAA and ZMA (this is just zink/magnesium) and some workout clothes. Not a big believer in any of that fancy stuff but I will keep an open mind! Feeling stacked up ready to take on the swedish winter :>

If you guys do chins and bench on the same day, you won't get maximal performance out of whatever you do second. http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/LatissimusDorsi/BWUnderhandChinup.html @mordek: you can always stack plates to give you a boost so you don't have to jump
