Oh, interesting! So what happens if I do 3x5 of X, move up, and can't do it. Would you suggest doing more reps of the one I could do, or stopping there? If you did 3x5 with just slightly lower weight, you slept well, you handled your nutrition etc, then you will probably be able to do 3x5 with a tad heavier weight, at least with squats and deadlifts. Eventually this will slow down though. Usually you should be able to do 5/4/4 or 5/5/4 or 4/4/4 or maybe 5/4/3, in which case I would keep the weight the same for the next workout. Usually you have three attempts at a specific weight, if you even then can't finish your 3x5, drop the weight down a notch for your next workout, and come back at it within the next few workouts. If you feel that your recovery has been bad, as in you can only do 3/3/2 or something weird like that, then dropping down the weight for the current workout is what I'd do.
For more information on starting strength and details with it, visit the stickies, general training recommendations and what not.
Good luck!

Immediately after squatting yesterday my legs felt sore. They still feel really sore, especially right thigh is sore as hell. Never tried this before, I hope they're okay for tomorrow, cause I have a really tough session tomorrow.
Anyone else felt really sore right after working out? And it's not that I'm not used to squat, I have been squatting heavy 4xWeek for the last many months

It's happened to me before. Not super often though
