Fucking idiot (I'm saying this because of other stuff as well) Mixed grip is awesome for heavier weights. For me, the bar slipped on 112.5kg (warm-ups) while using overhand grip tonight but the workset on 160kg with mixed grip (and chalk) had absolutely no slipping problems. It makes a world of difference. Add chalk to it and it will be even bigger improvement. I'm feeling pretty fucking happy with my workout today. Deadlifted 160kg x 3 and the reps went up easily and cleanly. I didn't attempt the last two reps because my friend commented that my back was starting to bend a bit but I think I could have done if I wasn't being ultra-safe. I also squatted 137.5kg x 4 , 125kg x 5 and 112.5kg x 6 (which was my progression goal), so next session I'm doing three plates. All in all a good session for me ![]() beastly squat! congrats ![]()

The guy always talks bad about other people on their back and every time I ask why, he tells a very similar story about how he was trying to correct them so they wouldn't injure themselves and got a "let me do my own thing" reply. Then he "teaches them a lesson" (by showing that he knows more than the person) and basically hates the person forever. And LOL Daigomi, your warm-up is my PR ![]()

Hitting 140kg has been a long-term goal of mine so I'm super stoaked that I'll actually do it soon. Now if only my chest muscles will stop fucking around and grow a bit so that I can start benching some proper weights. And LOL Daigomi, your warm-up is my PR ![]() And my PR is Decaf and BlondeOnBlonde's warmups :p I was watching some pretty beefy guys (90-100kg) doing 220kg deadlifts at the gym the other day and I was slightly awed by how many plates that was (it was the first time I saw that big a deadlift in person). Then I got home, read this thread, and purely by chance saw that someone had posted a video of Pyrros Dimas, who weighs at least 10kgs less than the guys I saw, throwing the exact same weight over his head :p I'm still having trouble processing that...

I won't go to it for every workout because it's £30 a month or £5 a day, and another £5 for the train. My uni gym is 2 minutes away and cost £120 for the whole year. Still, I'll go probably twice a month. It has a bunch of stuff like you said (farmers, yoke, frame, tyres, logs) and atlas stones up to 240kg! Apparently only two people have picked up the 240kg stone. Only thing is their tyres are between 400-500kg. I'm not so sure if I can flip that, it sounds like a lot, but I've never flipped one before.

Went and did: Back Squat: 90kg, 100kg, 105kg, 110kg, 115kg, 120kg, 125kg, 130kg, 140kg. 100kg, 110kg, 120kg, 140kg x 3 110kg x 2 x 5 (this felt super easy, can't believe it myself). ChinUps: 10-8-6 (wow, first time I have ever done 10reps, I'm so pleased!). C&J: 20kg x 2, 40kg x 2, 50kg x 2, 60kg x 2, 70kg x 2, 80kg x 2 (Not a PR, but really good form, specially on my jerk!). Also I had the 80kg loaded, so I decided to do FS x 2 x 80kg :D Pyrros dymas style (just 100kg less). gogo me! tomorrow another day!

Had to study today, so did short session today. OHP: 65kgx2x5 Squat: 130kgx3, 140x1, 150x1, 160x1, 130x3x3 BP: 100x3, 110x1, 120x1, 100x5x2 Cool that I can still BP a lot without practice, even after OHP (13kg below 1RM). Awesome bulked shoulders are great, can't wait to BP 5 times a week again and hit 150kg :p. Not gonna happen till im done with smolov though. 135kg on my smolov peak is good enough.

Are you running Smolov because you're stuck or trying to peak for a meet? I really can't imagine someone going through it just for the fun of it.

As someone who absolutely hates high volume, I'm always curious when people decide to run one of the extremely high volume programs. Are you running Smolov because you're stuck or trying to peak for a meet? I really can't imagine someone going through it just for the fun of it. Leangains recommends 3-3.5g of omega 3's (2 of EPA and 1-1.5 of DHA) per day as a dosage. That's high compared to any other recommendation, but it's for fat loss and muscle gain, not general health and decreased inflammation. Those results can be seen at lower levels. Just pay attention to what is the cheapest per gram that you can get, not what is the most per pill. Nothing wrong with taking multiple pills so long as you're going to not forget to take them. As far as volume goes... it's individual. I love high volume, single exercise routines. The deadlifting I'm doing right now has me doing between 11 and 13 sets over about 35 minutes. I ran a smolov base cycle for the hell of it, and saw the absolute best returns I have ever had on a weightlifting program (barring the hemorrhoids I got from jumping in a pool immediately after my squat sessions, and the poor form I had the first week) and I can't wait to get a 4 plate deadlift so that I can jump back on smolov. To each his own; some people progress on intense, short routines, and some people like volume. On June 28 2012 16:09 Release wrote: I watched the So you think you can Squat and can't help but notice that he does a low-bar squat (sit back, knees out) while holding the barbell in a highbar position. Is that safe? http://www.lift-run-bang.com/p/most-popular-posts-and-series.html Great three part series on finding the best squatting technique for you there. Highly recommend it, as well as the rest of the blog - and the podcasts, goddamn those are funny. I'm listening to them one/day at work atm. On June 28 2012 12:17 decafchicken wrote: funkie if you're doing triples at the same as your daily 1RM then you're not going high enough on the 1 rep Todays workouts 1x60 minute massage :D although i think my hips and shoulders would need a solid weeks worth of massage to get the kinks out Workout today: drunk-girl-carry-homes 2x14 blocks (2 girls, 14 blocks from the bar, took two trips.) drunk-girl-massages 1x25 minutes (not worth it) PR squat and OHP tomorrow fuck yeah. What's the routine funkie is doing? Would be fun to take a look at it and it's methodology. Also are you just squatting to a daily max 3x/week and front squatting to a daily max 3x/week, or is it something more structured that put you past 200? Did a lot of foam rolling today, especially my shoulders and neck. Got my vit D from the sun (as I have been doing with my 7 hours+ per day life guarding, fuck yeah) and my fish oil came in. Got the ones that Eshlow always recommends; http://www.iherb.com/Nature-s-Answer-Liquid-Omega-3-Deep-Sea-Fish-Oil-EPA-DHA-Natural-Orange-Flavor-16-fl-oz-480-ml/7908 liquid, orange, doesn't taste good but doesn't taste bad either. Figure I'll pop a teaspoon twice/day. recommended dose is 1 tsp/day, but I bought two bottles to get free shipping, and I had a $5 off coupon (eshlow's code is LOW052 iirc?) so that's still 3 months supply for 26 bucks, getting 2.3g of omega 3's per day. I'll take it! As far as drinking though... I was out for a 21st birthday party, and I honestly feel like alcohol's not even worth drinking any more. I built up a solid tolerance level BEFORE I started lifting, when I was 135 pounds. I've put on 55 pounds since then, and still gaining, and I have to drink half a damn fifth to get buzzing. Going to the bars, I'll drop 30-40 bucks and still be good to drive... It's ridiculous the things that I could afford to do if I were to stop drinking once or twice a week like I am now. I would have my lifting shoes in three weeks, I would have money to change all my chicken to beef/steak, I could save up for a new PC twice as fast as I already am... I already don't do beer (don't like it, and it fucks with me because I don't have any other gluten in my diet) and although I love me some bourbon... It wouldn't be that hard to cut out. I'll be hosting plenty of parties this year, and if I can't be comfortable, sober, in my own home... there's seriously something wrong with me. Perhaps the Saranac Lake tournament with my team will be pretty much a "last hurrah" as far as drinking goes. Decaf, you in?

i switched up my program and started back squatting and front squating every day. I'm hoping to hit 180 back squat by the end of the summer. Decaf i have been trying more volume in front squats(3-5 reps) and it is helping me keep my upper back from caving in. Im probably going to stick with higher reps for now to see if i can get my triples up.
