CJ up to 130kg
Snatch to 110kg
Backsquat 3x5 @ 166kg/365lb
bench 3x5 @ 70kg/155lb went up 20 pounds this week! (lulz) I was actually sore yesterday from 5x5 @ 155 haha

Went to the gym after playing a bit of touch rugby for an hour so i was a bit tired but still had a nice squat session. TIME TO CELEBRATE ST PATTYS DAY WEEKEND. Perfect weather + 50,000 college kids partying all day. Gonna be awesome tomorrow. Getting paid 40$ to bounce a party while i'm partying there for a few hours :D Being big has its perks.

also, MSU about to tear shit up in march madness. Sorry phyre, but you're going down (struggle more with unc asheville plz)

Just got the 5/3/1 book. Very underwhelming... 30 bucks, and I only found about 1/6th of the book actually worthwhile. Maybe a fifth at the most.

Personally I wouldn't recommend it; everything you need to know can be found online or some common sense in programming/lifting

Lol, I know...OHP has always just felt really awkward and non-intuitive to me. In the grand scheme of things, though, it's okay, since I originally started lifting to improve my vertical leap for basketball.

guys i found a pic of an old highschool "chum" who i always wanted to be able to arm wrestle (with 2 hands let alone 1)

back at age 16-18 he was an absolute monster, could toy with us nerds (and everyone else) with his little finger. i think he joined a national junior rugby team or something . serious monster of a guy

anyway so now i have a visual benchmark LOL. those forearms and neck look pretty daunting

[image loading]

is that neck from chinups or what?

Think I'll give up on Starting Strength. I've been doing it on and off for a year and it has given some success. However my numbers are not acceptable:

45kg bench
80 squat
110 deadlift
50 power clean or so in terrible form.

I need to change my exercise cause im not making any progress on my own.

Post some form videos and tell us your bw, height, and bf%
I find it hard to believe that anyone, even if you were a girl, would be stuck at 45kg bench after a year. What's the most number of times you went to the gym without skipping? Like anything, getting stronger requires some effort and dedication.

SS , probably like every other program, doesnt work unless you follow it by the book. "on and off" will not see any progress. its harder than you think, if you're not used to committing to something like this. but it absolutely does yield results if you do following it consistently and not "on and off"

I threw several months in a row at that fucking program and it might have worked for a bunch of people in here, but this book does not work for everyone without a professional instructor.

I was a total newbie at all the lifts so everything was basically zero I guess.

Whats your bodyweight? Have you been eating/resting enough? 1 year at 45kg bench sounds incredibly low, really. I was a total newbie to the lifts when I started (in October), but I didn't have a problem at all with SL. Im still ifting baby numbers but I can definitely notice a lot of improvement in all my lifts.

Age: 22|| Height: 1.76 m || Weight: 72.5 kg
Starting Date: 19/03/12 || Goal Date: 1/07/12
Weight goals -- stay the same weight; decrease BF% (tabita scale said 13.2%, I'm guessing more like 15-16%, i'll take caliper messures)
Training goals (novice goals on http://www.exrx.net/Testing/WeightLifting/StrengthStandards.html my weight rounded down)
- squat 3 x 5: 48 kg => 85 kg
- press 3 x 5: 30 => 42.5
- bench press 3 x 5: 35 => 65
- deadlift 1 x 5: 50 (not max thanks to injury) => 100
- Power clean 3 x 5: 30 (not max thanks to injury) => 60
- Run as close to a 3k Cooper test by the end of May. (current PR: 2.7 km)
Misc/stress goals: make good progress on master thesis.

I found it to be a really good read, but I didn't pay 30 bucks for it so that might have something to do with it :p.
