hey TL lifters! im new to TL but been lifting for a bit now. I've had this account for a while now but havent made a ton of posts. hit a couples prs this week including this 102 kg snatch. lemme know what you guys think (constructive criticism wanted).

Nice snatch!

Couple things i'd comment on
-looks like your knees cave in on the pull
-try to keep your butt down and lower back tight, chest up

You look like you're good for a lot more weight, just need to work on that speed and flexibility so you can catch it lower and put up some bigger numbers.


Dimsum are you comin to the MDUSA open lift?
how reasonable is it to eat off wood instead of your tummy?

Only the guy who squats 250 wants a spot. I def would quit my job if I made the team. lol Zeylx and darren are already supported by my team so they dont care.

I've been doing Pendlays program(monday, wednesday, friday) for beginner olympic weightlifters for about a month now(started stronglifts about 9months prior) and it's been going pretty good.

Right now where I'm staying for the month I have this superawesome(no seriously the best thing ever) gym pretty much next door and I plan on going 5-6 times a week.

So I was wondering if anyone could recommend some lighter intensity workouts for my offdays

Lighter technique work, and maybe some extra upperbody and core work. Rehab exercises and stretching too.

Thanks, sounds pretty solid. That reminds me I havent done those chinese core exercises with a barbell in a while, gonna give them a go, should go in nicely.

Judging from the video I'd say you'll get it. No major technical flaws, excellent jerk skills, and you were last out on the c+j until the A teamers came out. I'm guessing the guy who backsquats 250kgx2 @77 is the one who comes out at 46 seconds on the c+j video, but idk if they'll take him his technique was quite far behind.

4 spots total includes the women too, don't know how good the athletes were there. But I thought Decaf looked definitely better than most of the male competitors there.
Anyway, I'd assume given that Decaf is 6'1, I could imagine they would ask him to be a superheavy, don't even know if -105kg would be enough for him. He really looks slim compared to other weightlifters. Maybe if he is on the smaller end of 6'1... use centimeters for heaven's sake

Yeah i'm a pretty tall 94 at 6'1

From what i can tell, travis cooper definitely got a spot on the a-team, they seemed interested in the guy in the red singlet who lifted about the same as me (except he weighs 15kg less than me lol), and glenn didn't say a word to me lol. The only girl there who would make it wasn't there to try out just to lift. Apparently they'll be sending e-mails out and shit over the next week. Going by sinclair, depending on what the super heavy weight was weighing we had about the same score and he's currently on the b team.

After reading a lot on pendlay forums and what other olympic lifters have to say. If you're not investing the time to really perfect the technique ie (hire a coach or even having professionals critique your form through video) the risk of injury is pretty high as you move on. Although this isn't always the case (clarence is self-taught, look him up on youtube he's pretty damn strong), oly lifting isn't a let's watch a video and try it out at the gym. Professionals take countless reps to perfect their technique, hence why many athletes (like mma fighters) and coaches like DeFranco don't really recommend oly lifting because of the investment to technique it requires.

But hey, if you're serious about it then by all means! Any sport is great and with time and diligence you can do well! Just take the time to really perfect technique before you try and add on those extra plates

Edit ** after reading a lot of posts I realize many are experienced lifters! If you disagree with what I said feel free to state your opinions! I'm into powerlifting so oly lifting is not my forte.

I'm still astonished taht some girls really have "problems" with the Clean, but nail the jerk like it was shit.

I'm the other way around completely. My clean is superb. up to 110kg, my jerk is lol..I'm a bitch.
