Also, @lyAsakura, thanks for posting that hahaha. Although it was slightly cheesy, it was definitely well worth the time spent watching it.

Yay :D If you're half as neurotic about it as i am you'll spend another year or two trying to learn/understand the mindfuck that is olympic weightlifting and the various theories and love every second of it!

Tried some air lifting in my room already and I think I am ready for empty barbell. EDIT: Back from gym... So tl;dr version is that it was a disaster. When I first got the chip to enter gym then it was completly empty so I was pretty happy at that point. After getting changed I noticed 6 people entering gym and obviously they all had to stay on the first floor where 6 barbells are and nothing else. Then after 3-4 minutes 10+ people joined so it was twice as crowded as on the worst day I have ever seen... It was working hard on balance with empty barbell and like after every set someone either asked if it's free now or just tried to steal it while I was drinking water.... In the end I gave up, did some overhead presses, 2 sets of back squats and 2 sets of front squats, 3 sets of pull ups and went home. Hoping that thursday will go better. I'll go 2 hours eariler than I did today. EDIT2: About the snatches... I can get barbell above head easily but it's 20kg so who in the world can't but what I am having a problem with is that I lose balance and always have to step few steps back and secondly for some reason it seems impossible to do overhead squat with 20kg barbell eventho with ~200g stick it was easy. Felt like I don't have flexibility.

Was doing squats in front girls, felt badass until heard a big rip going down. Thought it was my sweat pants. Covering my butt with my hands, I rushed to the mirrors to see what I ripped and noticed nothing. My boxers. I fucking rounded my back a bit going up because I was worried about my pants and now my lumbar area hurts a little. That fucked up my whole workout.

I was squatting and deadlifting over 2x bw when i started olympic lifting and i tried to do a 20kg overhead squat and fell on my ass. You're going to be exposing your body to radically new movements that will require things you've never had to do before. Keep at it, work on your flexibility and balance and you'll feel a LOT more comfortable in a week or two. Also, lifting shoes help a fuck ton if you don't have some already.

Don't hesitate to take videos for us to see because this sport is hard to learn on your own. What are you doing for flexibility work? Did some more empty barbell snatch looking lifts. My phone is like 6 years old so can't really record anything. 10 huge pixels chaning colours. I watched only these flexibility videos that are in first post but don't really know when to do then and how often. Right now the biggest problem is clearly flexibility because I still can't do even overhead squat. Overall second day was much better. My power clean is better than normal clean right now but hopefully I'll get a grasp of it soon. On June 06 2012 10:28 decafchicken wrote: LOL don't worry about it all bud. Yeh I wiggle a lot and still haven't done full overhead squat with 20kg :D My back squat record was 120kg and deadlift was 150kg. I was 88kg back then, now I am 76kg. When I first discovered this forum then I was 96kg so I managed to achieve a lot in ~9 months. Obviously eating much more now so I can beat you one day and my grandfather who was also a sick oly lifter 50 years ago. Got motivation, just need strength and flexibility now! (and shoes) EDIT: If anyone can recommend great lifting shoes at around ~100€/$ price tag then I would be really thankful. I could buy adidas 200$ lifting shoes but then I'll have 3€ / day for food which is like 500g of pork only.

He's a baller. I met him in february and trained at that very facility (Anvil Athletics). He's definitely the next American hope, but he's stayed under the radar somewhat. Oleg Chen just won russian nationals with a 175kg cj, and Alex Lee has cjed 175 weighing 72ish and narrowly missed 180.
