I'm thinking about taking whey protein isolate. Milk and whey absolutely demolish my stomach and give me acne, even if taken with lactase pills. Would isolate help with this?

If it's the whey that's giving you the issues, isolate may or may not give you issues. You may have to go with whole foods (not that it's a bad option... just harder to get down the kcals) On November 03 2011 22:50 Garbels wrote: What should one do between sets? Read a book... whatever. Pretty much anything that isn't exercise that will interfere with your next set. Eat and drink is a decent option if you're trying to gain weight and need more calories. Going from higher carbohydrate to lower carbohydrate tends to make you drop fat/weight. HOwever, it depends... nothing may happen. 2. Sure. But chicken isn't as high quality protein as meats and fish.

I think I've read a study once that icing your muscles between sets increases the reps of the next set by 1-2. Just something to think about ![]()

I can't afford like four servings of meat every day, especially considering one serving costs $5 here. Getting it down isn't really the problem... it's the money. The only economical protein here is chicken, which I don't want to eat it enormous quantities because of the effect it can have on omega 3:6 ratios. Well tbh if the only alternatives to chicken are either nothing or really bad skin issues i'd eat the chicken! Its no that bad and certainly better than nothing

Today ground beef was on sale at the store for $1/100g (!!!!!!) so I've been eating nothing but beef all day, but I think just taking fish oil with chicken may work well too. Also guys, another question... lately when I'm squatting heavy, I'll get a bad headache at the back of my head. It only happens when squatting and never when doing anything else... I wonder what the problem may be.

I had them as well, and as far as I could tell, the only cure is to take a break for 2-3 weeks ![]()

I may just be straining myself too much on squat, or like pushing the bar into my shoulders too much ![]() My next session is OHP so I'll see if I get a headache from that.

I know that at least 8 hours of sleep a night is basically mandatory for recovery and the like, but it's really impossible for me. Lights out at my school is at 11pm, so up until then we're accountable for anything. (basically, if we get an email at 10:59 saying that there's a parade or something the next day and we're already in bed, we get in massive shit for missing it. happened to me already). Also, the duty day begins at 6am, so most of our daily activities involve getting up then, if not a bit earlier. That leaves me with 7 hours MAX, not taking schoolwork into account. Essentially, I sleep around 4 hours a night, often less, but then when the weekend rolls around I often find myself sleeping for close to 17 hours in one go. Is this incredibly unhealthy? I know it's not ideal, but there are so many subtle things in this health and fitness game that have long-reaching effects that I thought I'd ask.

Can't you just like sleep at 9 or 10 and wake up slightly earlier to check your email and stuff?

Not really, because they'll suddenly decide at 1030 that there's going to be PT or a formup at 6am the next day and if we're late we get in shit...unless you mean wake up earlyish every day just before, which I guess could work depending on what the activity is :p
