no idea.
bar might come with collars but buy some £2 ones aswell. the collars that came with my bar didnt fit it for some reason (WTF). the expensive padded ones are nice but unless you're an absolute beginner with zero grip strength you wont need the extra grip they give. actually fuck it if yyou're spending £1500+ anyway just get the nice collars rofl
bumpers will not fold below like 15kg , theyre too thick and strong, if thats what u mean. 10kg ones can be damaged however if thats all thats on the bar
that weight set is $785 for a barbell and 95kg of weight, you will need another 50kg+ for deadlifting personally id buy a cheap iron oly barbell and weight kit and then two 20kg bumper plates

Is he being dramatic, or am I actually going to need to pick up this bar for Oly AND another bar for use in the rack? I ask because this home-gym investment is getting seriously expensive already, between power rack $500, quality barbell $400, quality bumpers $550, bench $150, platform, and potentially rings and boxes. Kijiji and craigslist are dry for my needs. I could get the $150 barbell and the $300 bumpers, but I really don't want to have to buy anything twice because it ends up crapping out on me. Maybe I could put some sort of padding on the safeties? Also, any recommendations for a decent collar to pick up for my shiny new bar? Will the standard spring ones suffice?
EDIT: Has anyone had any issues with "folding" bumper plates when dropping a lift?
Don't put bumpers under 25lb (10kg) on the bar alone, and you won't need to worry about folding, or them wearing out particularly fast. If you need to use a weight smaller than that (learning snatches for example) you can either use iron, or just never set the bar down with the bumpers on it.
As far as "dumping" a nice bar in a power rack... I've had to "dump" (as in drop from more than an inch or so above the safeties) a bar maybe twice in my entire lifting career. Sure, you might have to dump if you've got squat stands instead of a power rack - but since you're looking to buy a rack, just set the safeties a bit below your normal squat depth, but not so low that you can't get down to them. Then if you get stuck in a squat, you just ride it down, and "set" the bar on the safeties instead of "dumping" it there.
Also that quote is specifically about the NB - the bearing version - and Eleiko bars, which are generally considered the best weightlifting bars around. Either one is actually going to run you 600-900 bucks, not 350 like the HD (all american prices).

The two problems i would see with using a nice bar on safety pins is that they will wear down the knurling on the bar which is used for grip during snatch (place towels or rubber on your rack for this) or that dumping the bar onto the safety will cause it to bend (it will with heavy weight and a big drop). If you're using bumper plates while you squat then you can just dump the bar safely off your back onto the ground (this is my preferance, it's easy, safe, and doesnt ruin any equipment). Otherwise just make sure you lower the bar slowly onto the safeties if you can't stand up with a squat (i've done this plenty).
And yeah the only weights that you should worry about 'folding' are the 10-15 pound plates. if you get proper 10kg plates they won't fold and you can drop them.

better off with a good barbell and bumper plates then find some cheap metal plates for extra weight if need be as they're a lot more common and quality isn't really a concern with metal plates.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

You can always get some heavy bumper plates (45lbs) like 3-4 and then get the others in metal (cheaper).
The ones "taking" the damage are the big ones, which in this case, are the bumper. :D?
Smart idea or the stupidest of them all?

Going to run this by you guys for general suggestions/recommendations/corrections/opinions before I finalize. For a ground-up garage gym:
Powertec WB-PR11 Power Rack http://www.powertecfitness.com/p-31-workbench-power-rack-wb-pr11.aspx Pendlay Nexgen HD Barbell http://www.muscledrivercan.com/20kg-Pendlay-Nexgen-HD-Olympic-Bar_p_44.html Pendlay Econ V2 Bumper Plates (45lbs, 35lbs, 25lbs, 10lbs) http://www.muscledrivercan.com/Pendlay-Econ-V2-Bumper-Plate-Set-230lb-Free-Shipping_p_32.html Rogue HG Collars http://www.muscledrivercan.com/Rogue-HG-Collars_p_129.html Spring Collars http://www.muscledrivercan.com/Spring-Collars-pair-_p_127.html Northern Lights Flat Bench (Getting for cheaper than this site) http://www.nlfit.com/product.asp?category_name=benches&product_id=133&sub=boxes Generic Olympic Plates (35lb, 5lb, 2.5lb) Handful of 2" Inner Diameter Washers (.625lb each) Supplies for Olympic platform Liquid Chalk Gymnastic Rings
My main concern is the plates. Will this assortment be sufficient to hit whatever weight I want for whatever lift I want (appropriate bar height on dead lifts/olympic lifts)? I ask because I don't think I've touched a barbell in my life (started with P90X, moved to my own bench/chin/dead/squat split, a la Martin Berkhan, been using 2.5-90lb adjustable dumbbells all along, looking to switch to barbell) so I don't have any experience configuring different weights on the bar. Will it all fit when I need to use everything? Also, the reason for having Rogue and spring collars is for how I was intending to set up the bar: {spring}{2.5/5/35){rogue}(bumpers)BARBELL(bumpers){rogue}{2.5/5/35){spring} Does this look correct? Necessary?
EDIT: In case anyone is wondering about the weight, I'm 5'8" 150lbs, and I like to work in the 5-8 rep range. I don't foresee myself needing more than 360lbs any time soon.

Don't get cheap metal plates to do oly lifting with a good bar though. It will damage the sleeve since the opening in the plates is too big. Same goes with if you are dropping your deadlifts. Muscledriver has some rubber coated change plates which have perfect opening diameter (at least the ones I got). Btw, you need four 5lb plates or four 10lb plates if you want to hit 20lb on each side. You could also get regular chalk from them too instead of liquid chalk. I find it gives a little more grip.
Also, you can get a power rack from fitnessavenue.ca. They have cheaper racks with closer hole spacing which helps a lot with benching.
You only need 1 set of collars to put on the end. No need for 2 pairs.

Regular chalk bro. Way cooler.

no you dont need 2x collars on a bar.
360lb/160kg is fine for beginner, though aim for 180/200kg if you can get it discounted.
have a look at amazon for stuff just incase

Is this a typo or am I misunderstanding?

Edit: Never mind, I misunderstood as well.

That is some expensive equipment lol

Lol that's nothing. One of my hobbies has lately become hanging around home-gym forums and picking out stuff that will go in my home gym some day (when I have a home...)
I think the current list is somewhere around US $3000. And that's just for basics.

Dark Horse power rack from Sorinex ($999.00 shipped, anywhere in US) http://store.sorinex.com/Dark-Horse-Rack-p/p01385.htm
Alternatives: Rogue Y-1 yoke w/ spotter arms + wall-mount chin up bar($485 + $135 + shipping) http://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-yoke.php http://www.roguefitness.com/set-of-safety-spotter-arms.php Rogue R-3 ($685+ shipping) http://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-r-3-power-rack.php
Pendlay 0-90 adjustable bench ($299 + shipping): http://www.muscledriverusa.com/Pendlay-Elite-0-90-Adjustable-Bench_p_2389.html
-Build a deadlift platform. Shouldn't cost more than $120-150. -Probably pick up iron weights off craigslist. Not worth buying new, IMO.
Bar (strength lifts, "starter" bar): CAP OB-86B ($130 + shipping) http://www.wayfair.com/Cap-Barbell-Solid-7-1000-lbs-Test-Bar-Black-OB-86B-CBB1047.html
Plan to upgrade to better power bar, and a nice Olympic bar (~300 and ~700 respectively)
Bumpers : Troy VTX. Too many variables on bumpers to list a price. Estimate ~450 for ~300lbs OR Pendlay econ V2s (should fit a pendlay lifting bar best) OR Hi-temps (thicker, supposedly less durable)
Rogue Rings ($72.00 + shipping) http://www.roguefitness.com/bodyweight-gymnastics/rings-accessories.php
That comes to exactly 2100 + shipping on a few things, not counting the 1000 bucks for the two nicer bars, and the price of used Iron weights.
Other things I would like to have include: Prowler ($225) http://www.blackwidowtg.com/DSL_Push_Sled_p/sled-dsl.htm GHD ($700) http://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-abram-ghd.php C2 rower (call for quote) Adjustable DB set (would probably buy used) http://www.ironmaster.com/Quick-Lock-Dumbbells/ Couple specialty bars.... Football bar/swiss bar, EZ-curl bar, Trap bar etc. Big tire or two
I think that's everything. No machines, nothing super-isolation related, but still pretty extensive. Capable of working just about anything I would ever think I would need. Great gym to train in just yourself, or with 1-2 other people. More than that would probably get crowded unless it was one person doing powerlifts, one doing Olympic lifts, one doing DB stuff, one doing conditioning, etc. Only things I could see adding are.... Crossfit-stuff (kettlebells, jump rope, medicine ball, etc) or strongman stuff (log, atlas stones, kegs, etc.)

Where is the best place to buy supplements in the US(Online most likely)? All I am doing right now is whey for post workout and extra protein if I have a shitty day for diet, thinking about adding creatine. Is there anything else I should be looking into?

amazon is not bad
I use bodybuildingforum, but that's because they are the only company that ships to Japan with a decent rate. I think their prices are fair anyway.
