if my gym doesnt have 1.25lb plates can anyone suggest a solution? ive been doing sl5x5 for about a month and the first time i deloaded OHP i thought it was just that my form was shitty. but looking at some of the progress reports and what these guys are saying it seems OHP just isnt as easy to keep up the gains. i dont want to just keep deloading every third week.

With so much other shit going on I"m having a hard time staying motivated. Dunno exactly how to be more motivated. I have to drive down to gym which is quite aways ,and I barely have any time as it is. I do have enough time, but then I don't have hardly any other time for friends etc.

I suggest stop being a little bitch and drive to the gym. You're way to young to not have time.

Competition in 4 days! Getting a singlet tomorrow so i stop looking like a scrub. Thinking i'm gonna open around 115-120 for snatch and 140 for CJ. Hoping to set some PRs!! Ya, pounds obviously :p. Good luck on ur competition, hopefully some pointers from mine will help u. 1.- Measure ur grip width from the center on each lift at the gym u train, cause the knurls at the competition might be different. I felt really weird squatting till I noticed that, which I did on my 3rd lift lol. 2.- Pay attention to the rules so you don't miss lifts because of silly mistakes. I missed my first squat because I didn't wait for the "rack" command after a succesful squat, and missed my first bench because I moved my feet. Avoid those. 3.- Bring food and water, and expect competition to start later than scheduled. Now that I notice its about oly lifting, I think 1-2 will most likely not apply. Dunno what else, gl and break those PR's. 1. Oly bars have less knurling than powerlifting bars. should be fine 2. yeah i came closed to missing a few lifts cause of certain rules but i think i got all of em down 3. will do!

Just, don't. Cut from TL time, cut from Starcraft/game time, cut from friends time. Live for lifting. What happened to 'I'm eating everything and gonna be huge rawr Froadac'? You want to end up mediocre? Man up.

If you can grab some 1.25's of your own and bring them like emperor suggested. If not you're just going to have to live with it. If you have time I'd throw in dips after your main lifts.

Sweet.
What you looking at in terms of access to foods and the gym?

Hm. I have a gym where I have a membership. Going to go there today and check some things out. I have access to pretty much all sorts of food. And I want to go to a vitamin store at some point as well. I'm going to try mostly things with low to no carbs. My plan that I already have set up is fairly complicated, I'll post it at some point I geuss O.O!

In general lifting weights together with proper nutrition will work great for losing weight and getting in shape.

You should PM Malinor. I'm pretty sure he started the same way you did and he's a monster now.

doesnt need to be complicated: eat below your BMR (and, preferrably, go paleo) but dont starve yourself, and lift heavy weights 3 times a week good luck!

Oh wow, didn't expect to see you here Welcome aboard!
This thread generally is for discussion of various routines, diets and a place to brag and follow the progress of others.
Malinor had great success with his "diet", managed to lower his blood sugar so he could skip the medication.
Eat less, eat better quality foods, start weightlifting (Starting Strength can get you very very far!) and add some light cardio on the off days.
Stay consistent and you'll reap the rewards.
----- Today's workout was the last heavy one before the meet, I think I finally managed to get a proper leg drive for my bench thanks to the more experienced guys in the gym. Paused benching is terrible when you are used to bounce the bar a little on your chest TT. I think I did around 20 singles with 90/80kg until I finally got it....
Will do some light squats on friday, 150kg or some which will be my opener I think, and then just relax, go for daily walks and the pools and continue studying my ass off.

The advice you've been getting of basically "Stop being a pussy!" is terrible, ignore them. If you're struggling with motivation it's probably because you're not enjoying what you're doing, which is completely understandable if you're spending your time indoors moving pieces of metal around. I'd recommend maybe looking at another form of fitness, maybe something which is a bit more fun, and outdoors. You don't have to go to a gym to be fit, strong and healthy.
Lack of motivation can also be a result from a perceived lack of progress. So maybe you need to re-asses your goals, and have a think about your reasons for why you want to train.
It's completely normal to go through phases where you lack motivation, that's part of the challenge of training, it's like another test or challenge which you need to work on and understand to overcome. Be patient, don't be too hard on yourself, it may just be that it's time to take a bit of a break, it could be your bodies way of getting that. You'll probably come back more motivated and stronger than ever.
