Anyone have a good scientific article I can link before he does too much damage?
Use your fist as a good article for this blithering idiot T_T How can you honestly think a 500 calories of high fructose corn syrup is the same as 500 calories of grass fed beef? dear lord what is this world coming to.
It gets better.

Yea, you might be out of breath given certain weight lifting programs, but being out of breath does not equal burning a lot of calories."
I guess he didn't get the memo that muscle burns more calories than fat. Granted building muscle won't lose you fat short term but it does in the long term. And the very best part.... ****drum roll****

He's a personal trainer.
The "muscle burns more calories than fat" thing isn't THAT true. You'll burn something like 4 calories per day pound of fat to maintain it, and something like 7 calories per pound of muscle (this is off the top of my head; haven't looked up those numbers in a while). So if you add fifteen pounds of muscle in place of 15 pounds of fat, over a week you burn ~300 calories extra, which you also could have done by not drinking a soda.
The thing that weight lifting DOES do, is that it burns a few calories in the actual activity - not many, but it burns many more calories, and directs a significant amount of energy and nutrients into rebuilding/repairing the muscle that you used when lifting afterwards. To get the most benefit out of this, you should actually be lifting heavy, not "fast and with light weights". Weight loss is not the right word to use when you're weight training, it's more of a body recomposition thing.
Also, anyone can get certified as a personal trainer. You don't actually have to know JACK.
i joked at work that the patients should lift weights to help keep them from being overweight and 2 people (one a nurse) shook their heads and said only that only aerobic exercise (running) burns calories
decaf what the fuck did i just see all i can think of is Data lifting a fallen pylon off of someone during an away mission

Nice lift :D How much has your back squat gone up since then?

You huge muscular bitch. Well, that means I am 52lb short right now, turns this whole kicking-Decafs ass-business into a more long-term project. Well, enjoy it while it lasts, I am coming for you.
On a more serious note, did you try more? That looked pretty easy.

Well I guess next Coan-Philippi will be 250kg / 550lb then....looked not that hard on you lol.
@Logros: Karsa is the best (along with many other characters). Working on Reaper's Gale now
Resting time for saturdays meet. Trying to eat like I'm getting paid for it. Would be ideal to push up to 96-97kgs for it.
@dimsum maybe i'll find out next week :D Legs were much too tired from 10x140kg + 15 100m sprints on monday to go for a max squat, hoping i can do a legit 200kg atg, if not 210.
@malinor thanks :D obviously i put some effort into it lol...but honestly i could have probably done more. bit sore from monday + listening to some gay ass katy perry song on the radio wasn't doing me any favors lol.
@sjarl Damn you and your coan philippi cycles! :p Im at around 210 right now so 95-96kg i think. MUST EAT MORE. I almost gave up on bulking yesterday because i'm so fucking busy and working 10 hours days. But that sounds like bitch mode alcholic withdrawal decaf, beast mode decaf is already 4 eggs + double chicken footlong subway + two chili dogs + half gallon of milk + double protein shake for today. I WILL PUT ON WEIGHT DESPITE ALL ODDS MORE MILK (and i need to start grilling, i hate waiting for shit to defrost grrr ruins my week)
edit: i'm a fucking idiot thats 515 lol! I'll try again towards the end of summer.
Decaf I know what you mean. I always forget to defrost shit the night before and then I'm like GRAAAAH. Then I goto the store and buy some chicken and cook that instead.
Decaf you're a boss man =P. On a side note, today i thought it was a great idea to use my foot as a stopper for a 900lb+ pallet of water. Its a little sore right now, but hopefully it wont bruise much! Can't stop it from letting me get to the gym tomorrow.

CP is imba if you can do it. With an 240 estimated max the first weeks say 180x2, 192,5x2, 205x2 and 215x2 which is entirely doable. Only the 215x2 would be a pr on doubles. But I'll see. I need to bring up some lagging bodyparts imo first.
My chest and lats are really lagging behind :C Will plan it out and hopefully sync it with my buddy. He'll be doing the same meet as me and after that train for the WPF World Champs in Florida in November. His planned 330kg deadlift will make me look puny

42lb left, so I somehow got 10lb stronger during the last 10 minutes sitting in my underwear in front of the computer ^^
Very curious about your max squat, depending on your result I am going to max out on Saturday myself. I should be pretty close to what you are trying to do.

Haha yeah my chest is pretty bitch, bench is only upper 200's still. Not that i'm worried about benching too much as it would probably hinder my oly lifting and not do much for rugby, although i'm tempted to add some 3x5 of bench just to put on some upper body mass. Not sure why, but my lats are fucking huge from oly lifting so i'm happy there :D 330kg deadlift? Unreal T_T

I'm small, too, but you don't have to eat and drink that much in one sitting. Drink the milk throughout the day, it's much easier that way. I find I can eat more if I split up meals throughout the day instead of trying to eat monster meals all at once.
For reference I used to be 5'7 at 120 lbs. About 140 now, my arms are tiny.

I know it is. but its easier for me to do that way. Plus the meat tastes better right after I cook it. I am 5'4" at 150.
