Can't wait to see some of the big non-affiliated names pop-up and show us the amazing performances we've seen throughout the dailies ever since they were started. I'm excited to see you all.
Great idea man Love to see some unknowns talents get shown? By the way, is the IPL event again 18+? If so then, that'd be unfortunate to younger talents.

One question though -- could it possibly be Bo3 in the first 3 rounds instead of Bo1? Bo1 makes it just a liiiiittle too volatile in the early rounds imho. =/
Either way, a fantastic opportunity and I thank you for sponsoring this.

100% agree but it'd probably take too long
Bo1 is only for the Ro512, 256, and 128. Assuming 256 or less people sign up (most likely) then the first round will get skipped all together, so it will most likely be 2 rounds of Bo1 with some people skipping round 1 due to seeding, it shouldn't be too bad.
currently my mind= blown. Its definitely not sometihng an actual team could do, but as a "brand" that wants to pick up a player for one event, its a fantastic idea.
Awesome initiative to help some unknown people get known. I feel like it is really hard to break into the SC2 scene right now unless you are an absolute beast like stephano who I knew nothing about, then rips through IPL3 and wins the entire thing. So hopefully we get some underdogs doing well in this.

No it wasn't for the players, just the audience!
It actually was for the players, but not the audience. I saw a bunch of kids there watching with there parents, but NJ has some pretty strict competition laws, so you had to be over 18 to play for money.
I don't know if they sponsor him or his stream. I don't think it would prevent him from entering, but maybe if Playhem wanted to be picky, I don't know.
Yeah, can we get some clarification on the whole "playing from Korea" bit?
That has me a bit confused...can players from North America/Europe compete, even if they'd be flying from Korea?
Also, how does the sponsorship stuff shake out to be? We have some players on our roster that are compensated and some that aren't, can the ones that aren't register for the event, or are they disallowed entry because we support their teammates?

The players that do not receive support are eligible.
As far as competitors from North America/Europe but playing in Korea goes, if they decide to compete and end up winning, we will pay for the winner's ticket from a destination in North America or Europe. How they get to that location is on their end.

Alright, this should be fun. If I give myself a 10% of getting through the first round, 5% until the finals, and 2.5% chance of winning that, I have a slightly worse than 1 in 25 billion chance of getting sponsored. Gogo me! Almost diamond, less than 300 1v1s played skillz!
some people are obviouslty not reading the rules...i see dignitas sjow signed up.....as well as a few other sponsored people....although now that im typing this i remember sjow just left dignitas, so maybe he is eligible.in which case he is a bad example, and best of luck to him. LoL

Hopefully this clears things up! =D
what if the player living in korea pays the difference for the ticket?
Really unfair that these "free agents" are signing up to play, they win the tournament, go to ipl sponsored, then get into a team and become sponsored again, robbing all up and comers from a chance. I hope playhem takes note about this..

So what, you want to have some arbitrary skill limit now as well? How stupid are you?

I see this tournament as an opportunity for a new player to show his worth, its obvious that a professional will sweep the floor with any amateur, there is no need to hold a tournament to find that out. Thanks for the very inteligent post.

I doubt that they are going to magically get on a team from winning IPL4. Their skill level won't suddenly have changed. They have been on teams before, and not been picked up for whatever reason. Winning IPL4 will only change marketability potentially, not skill. The reasons for being teamless in the first place are probably still going to be there.

well players like major, cited "new opportunity" meaning he has something, that's not announced yet. but currently potentially sponsored by something.
isn't Slush, Sjow, Mentalist in any way sponsored? they are on the list....
Also since RGN disbanded, we have Inori competing hehe, i'm definatly gonna try my best here to see how far i go, but hell i'll be damned if i can win such thing, would probably mean instant spotlight and team pickups lol
And i think teams will be looking at RO32, RO16 for new potential as well, so very good initiative!

i would try, but since all matches are played on NA server and i ain't got no NA account, i won't. Guess not anyone can enter. But since i wouldn't win squat anyway, i guess it's fine the way it is.
Got to love Playhem, they have one of the greatest tournament bracket viewers I have ever seen and probably will ever see, considering the other tournament plattforms do not seem to improve (looking at you, ESL!!!).
This is going to be so epic! Playhem is with out a doubt the best tournament creators out there, I use them twice a week for the LXG opens. Not only do they host the playhem dailies but now this sponsor me tournament! I really hope this becomes a regular thing every month.

There seems to be an awful lot of player who were member's of a recently disbanded team (or recently left their team) like RGN member's for example signed up, and also pro's that you would think are sponsored (like hwangsin).
While im always up for the challenge, i feel like it someone like Slush wins than its gona feel all loop-holey and almost seem as if it defeats the purpose of the event.
On March 15 2012 11:16 AGIANTSMURF wrote:and also pro's that you would think are sponsored (like hwangsin)..
For these cases at least, we will be removing them all before the event starts (so they don't join back in the mean time). Not everyone fully read the information or checked the thread before joining it and I'm sure some of our Korean players may not fully understand the post and google translate often butchers even mildly complicated text.

What a great concept.... problem is playhem dropped the ball and has a tournament filled with sponsored players that have signed up regardless. This makes the tournament completely pointless, hoping Playhem goes through and weeds out sponsored players AND Koreans that are not supposed to sign up either.

Yeah, I see a LOT of Korean pro's in the sign up list. I hope they get removed before it starts.
