I have, literally, no idea how to start/make small talk but I unabashedly asked a couple at the table next to ours if I could "borrow" their child (group at a restaurant, we had small roles/"wagers" and mine involved singing a pseudo-anthem with a "X will save the children" verse, I thought having a child stand by would be fun).
There's stuff we're at ease with and other we aren't, and sometimes the stuff people are on average at ease with is our second category. Doesn't mean you're an idiot or abnormal, only that you're not sticking to the average on all points. Which is good, isn't it?

As a Pats fan, I still have PTSD from the '07 season...
Fuck the Giants, fuck Eli Manning, and fuck David Tyree.

Today I got a hair cut and the lady who barely speaks English is asking me what size trimmer i want her to use like I know the fucking difference. I'm used to going in, letting the guy I'm familiar with cut my hair and praying he does a good job and what I want cause I'm too anxious/unknowledgeable to specify. (he usually does great but now he's retired)
I go home and my hair looks like shit so now I have to go back and try to hold her hand through it to fix it like it's my job and FUCK THIS IS SO STUPID
I feel like the biggest idiot even though I know I'm not the only one.
Edit: and I feel even stupider because I know I'm a fairly charismatic guy and social in crowds and can make do in strange situations with ease but I STILL get tripped up by the dumbest things every so often, and I feel bad complaining because so many people have it worse off in anxiety-wise and socially or in relationships than I do
You and I combine to make one functional human. I'm great with people i don't know, and people i know i get more and more messed up
Things I have enjoyed recently in media (which make a lot of sense on a Monday):
1) The Expanse TV show is really excellent through the first season. I don't know when I might start on S2 (because it requires money that I'm not already spending), but anyone with Prime who hasn't watched it should check it out.
2) Solitairica is a really fun semi-rogue-like/run-based game based on fantasy archetypes and light-rules solitaire. It's a lot of fun and has really consumed my transit time and some early mornings before I want to get out of bed.
3) I've always really liked the moody electric-y crooning of The xx and their latest album is, as the rest have been, very good.
