The other side of it is that a format that heavily emphasizes card quality over cohesive deck construction is bound to be subject to players getting lucky based on picking better cards. This IS true of Arena, and is a point that it emphasized by quite a few good players--in Arena, you are usually going to just pick the better card (Trump being the biggest proponent of this). When you don't, it's usually for mana curve considerations and very rarely for deck archetype considerations. The MtG equivalent of this is a core set draft that has weak archetyping and is therefore usually considered to be a poor draft format. Again, it is understandable that the base card set will behave like this, and it's a problem that should solve itself when additional cards are added to the pool. But we have to at least worry a bit about the base format promoting this kind of safe, overly card quality-focused drafting. | ||

I didn't mean Yeti in particular, I'm using the term to refer broadly to boring midrangy neutral commons that are both among the first cards you will use for constructed and are overly common picks in draft. "Yetis" encompasses shit like SSC, Dark Iron Dwarf, Gnomish Inventor, etc. | ||

I have a similar issue, from your sisters side. My parents ask me what I want all the time, and I don't really have an answer because they won't want to get those things, so I just say to give me money. Then they throw a fit that it's insulting to just give somebody money. No, what's insulting is being asked what I want as a gift, then being told what I want is insulting for me to receive. /rant | ||

Blah. One thing I got for my parents was a magnetic bottle opener that you stick on the fridge. Pretty OP for a Czech family. Also got my dad AoE2HD since we grew up playing that together and we haven't played a game together in like 5 years :/ I know the HD version isn't the best but w.e | ||

I looked at the Hunter cards less than 10 minutes ago to level it. Started including Beasts... looked at the rest of the class cards... removed all of them. | ||

just run multi shot+deadly shot+the flame shot thing+a standard good neutral deck would probably be as good as my priest deck lol except steady shot<<<lesser heal for my priest deck i guess | ||

Got to use all 4 of them in my first game, against a mage. I didn't think the "when your hero is attacked" one would be very useful, but they potentially made me win the game after I ate a Pyroblast to the face (mage with crafted/"pack'd" cards vs level 1 Hunter, welp). Since I have a somewhat low mana curve and have learnt not to get baited into Flamestrike it makes it easy to fit some hero power shots in, too, helps a bunch to counteract his board clearing. Secrets feel pretty satisfying to play too, since they're the only interaction you can have outside of your turn. The sniping secret probably sucks versus Shaman or Paladin though. Edit: nvm it doesn't get triggered by their hero powers. A mage suicided trying to attack me. :3 (Well I had 14 HP and it was his last action with a 7-7, while he only had 2 HP left so I'd won either way, but it was fun seeing the secret finish the match.) | ||
