Yeah, I'm not very interested in office bureaucratic either. It's one reason I didn't like a company I used to work for - things were too reliant on image and how you "seem" to the higher ups. Fuck that, I just want to do my damn job well without having to worry about kissing ass. Fuck that, I just want to do my damn job well without having to worry about kissing ass. this i think is false logic if kissing up is how you advance at said job, then it becomes "part of your job." people kissing up are the ones doing (that part of) their job well. refusing to kiss up is to refuse to do your job. not that i think it's right, nor do i think all places are like this, but i always find it silly when people are like "YEAH I'M A GREAT EMPLOYEE BUT I HATE INTERACTING WITH MY BOSS AND COWORKERS" cause if that's part of your job, well then... it's part of your job. and you aren't a great employee. (obviously you didn't say what i put in quotation marks and capital letters. but i've heard that at past jobs of mine as well as from people in other jobs.) | ||

"Kissing up" and "interacting with others" are two completely different things. But you're right - if that's part of the culture and part of the job, then you have to do your job. It's part of the reason I didn't pursue a job at that place. I didn't mind the work I was doing, but the culture didn't fit my desires. My current company culture is incredibly customer and employee-centric. My coworkers, direct supervisor, and CEO all have my respect and they are all great people to work with. The culture is notably not as image-centric as the other place. People here are recognized, first and foremost, for the work they do. | ||
