Trying to surprise my wife for xmas with tv (I know lol) but we've just used netflix/chromecast for everything but she likes her wheel of fortune/jeopardy in the evenings. So I'm trying to figure out how to hook up an antenna without her noticing while she's always home and I have to work 50 hours this week if I want to take xmas off . Anyways I have the antenna now and the coaxial cable is only like 10ft. The previous owners ran the internet/cable through the outside to the crawlspace as well as a cable from the dish on the roof down the side to the crawlspace as well. From what I can tell there's a cable that runs from the room I want it in to the crawlspace. I've never had to look into this before. I'm assuming they all meet up in the crawlspace... I know I moved the cable for the internet from one room to the other so I have that experience. I want/should have the antenna in my attic so my question in all of this what's the easiest way to go about this... figure out a way to run the cable from attic to the crawlspace so it hooks up with w/e is down there? Or there's existing surround sound etc cable running from the attic for sure down the closets and right next to the coaxial outlet. This is probably the easiest for me to do but am I losing something but not taking it all the way down and just not using the outlet? Lol I have no idea how I'll get this done by Saturday. The less drilling holes in the attic/crawlspace the better but whatever will get me the best results is probably worth It sounds like you have a bunch of cables and are trying to figure out where they go and if you need to drill new ones? For extremely low effort you can spend money and get a device that you screw onto one end of a coaxial cable and screw the other end on to the other end and then it beeps if it conducts. For more effort you can rig up a 1/4" TS plug to coaxial NPT adapter and then run 1 channel audio through it and connect the other side to a speaker/amplifier (to achieve the same affect for less money). For the most effort (and also kind of dangerous) you can tie electrical wiring to the ground and + leads on the coaxial cable and then run a battery on one end of the cable and use a voltmeter (or LED? - poor man's voltmeter) to figure out which end of the cable comes from where. Hmm, you are right in that I'm trying to figure out where things go. I'm seeing it like this but could be wrong: Option 1) I buy a coax extension, run it through the ceiling/closet where I already know the speaker cables are run and just hook it up directly to tv through existing literal hole in the drywall. Option 2) Obviously there's some existing structure in the crawlspace where the cable/dish cable is run to and I assume goes to the existing coax outlet(?) right next to the above mentioned literal hole in the wall. This option seems more difficult because instead of dropping a cable through a hole in the ceiling I have to get it through the wall into the crawlspace or through the floor into the crawlspace.
Rereading your post again it seems that just using the closet option and hooking it into the existing coaxial wiring network in your home is easier. You're not going to lose anything because I assume you got those new Over-Air-Digital antennae, and the nice thing with digital signals is either you get the same signal as before or you just get no picture at all.

Guys, I think I'm gonna build a gaming PC. Mom said she's pay for part of it as my Christmas gift...

In related news, I think once my finances are a little stronger (read "in a couple months), I'll be looking at a Mazda 3 or 6 for my new car. I drove a 1993 Buick Roadmaster in college. Used to take it out a couple nights a week to go "snow-drifting" with friends. So much fun. For the uninformed its a giant boat and rear wheel drive.
@xes thanks for your input. I couldn't really think of anyone to ask that knew more than I did, off-topic never lets you down.

That was not the right change to make to freeze.
Mages may not be "fast" enough to play as control anymore.

Never buy a honda. Don't support that horrible company.

I recommend an SSD. I can't imagine using a computer without an SSD anymore.

I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing. I know some people have linked sites in the past and my friend who just built his own PC is gonna help me out, but I still feel overwhelmed ha. I will keep SSK in mind, although I don't want to spend a fortune on this thing.

Also, lucky! Back when my parents would pay for a computer I always got saddled with the stipulation that it had to be a dell.

It's pretty easy and it seems to get easier year by year. If you pick the right case you won't even need any tools.
You'll be alright.
(Actually, I think I fried some drives by not plugging in the SATA power cables properly. But you're smarter than me.)

Do what everyone here did: Build a gaming PC and then play League which can be run on a crap laptop and leave all your pretty games in backlog so it doesn't matter anyway.

Mages may not be "fast" enough to play as control anymore. As someone who plays a lot freeze mage, the change Blizzard mage is a pretty big nerf. A change such as making pyroblast do 6 damage and fireball do 4 damage (obviously this would never happen since the cards would be considered garbage) would actually not harm the deck that much. Making Frost Nova cost 3 mana is going to be one of the biggest changes I think. Having low mana control is really important, so you can do things like Mountain Giant Frost Nova turn 5/6 or Pyroblast Frost Nova turn 10. Theres a reason why I even run 2 owls instead of 2 spellbreakers.
I'm not sure exactly how big these changes are, or what I want to run/fix if these things are changed, but it should be interesting. It might even be worthwhile to get Sorcerer's Apprentice back into the deck although I'm not sold on the idea. Could potentially be too big of a dead draw in many situations.

And yet it probably won't be able to play BW without fucking up the colors.

RIP blizzard. 6 mana aoe is way too slow. flamestrike is like way better now.

The less mages the better. Soon we can just remove the class from Hearthstone. THEN OUR NEXT GOAL WILL BE REMOVE THEM FROM WOW ITSELF!
But no seriously fuck mages.

Expert mage top decks me for 6 turns till i'm all out of creatures so my warlock can't finish off its 6 HP. Urgh. Worst thing is I thought you lose when out of cards so I killed my creature for the lulz. Turns out I only take 1 damage, so I could have won. But the AI drawing luck is surreal. :| It's actually way harder than PvP for now.
Frostcone is so annoying to play against, too. Such a low mana cost, and fucks you up real hard.
|
well frostcone is getting nerfed, so you'll be happy about that
