If you want conditioning, push/pull/carry shit, do some sprints(although if joint health is your reasoning for not running, sprinting isn't much of an improvement)... fuck running on pavement for 60 minutes. My friend gabby is a runner and my god I think every month there is a new post about how bad her health is due to knee injuries from running. Like she is technically really healthy (she doesn't actually like the taste of meat so basically eats as a vegetarian), but physically her joints are like a 70 year olds due to running too much. And if you're overweight all that extra weight goes right to your joints during running and can seriously fuck you over. Running is legit the worst thing you can do to lose weight. Jogging isn't as bad if it's just a slight jog to get your heart rate up, but it's normally better to do other types of exercising than running. Even just walking is better.

Low impact cardio is probably best for health, swimming, walking, biking, etc, all great alternatives.

I always used to bike everywhere back in freshman year of high school and that was the point of my life where I was the healthiest physically.

You live in an area in America that has easy access to internet connection aka not the fucking mountains with mountain lions that somehow got the taste of blood for humans or some shit. I highly doubt that will ever happen. Although I guess running from your gf when you piss her off is enough to justify this. Nevermind then. :D

It's better than nothing but you have minimal cardio benefit and you'll still be fat.

You can either a) run low and erratic, and hope you don't get shot, or b) talk your way out of it. depends on range. if they're in arms reach, guns not nearly as effective as you think. Plus for weight loss, diet is like 20 times more important than activity.

That's really the sort of thing someone says right before they get shot. What are you going to do, grab the gun out of their hands? Any firearm or martial arts instructor will tell you that the Nike defense is better than fighting anyone with any sort of weapon. You're more likely to accidentally get shot trying to wrestle a gun out of someone's hand than you are to get it away and look like a hero.

Unless it's a shotgun but yeah, normally you want them a little less than arms reach or far enough away that their aim can become the deciding factor. And a lot of people suck at aiming since most people who will actually willingly try to kill you with a gun stole it and many haven't even used guns much before, so moving erratically helps a ton. People who legally own guns aren't that trigger happy. edit: No, Req, it's actually harder to properly use a gun in close quarters. Some factors can be gun length if it's something like a rifle, or also kickback where you need to be able to hold it properly or the kickback can seriously injure you. Saftey and other things are a factor too. If it does come down to the point that the person actually will shoot you when that close up, running to the side of them towards them is actually better than running away when you're that close up.

Obviously it's not something meant for the untrained, but the effectiveness of guns drop a lot if the range is within arms reach. Even things like Tueller drill for law enforcement is pretty important, 21 ft could be covered by assailant with knife before a Cop could react and correctly identify the threat, unlock safety, and pull trigger. In arms reach, the time is even shorter.
