Totally agree, it's much too early to be optimistic.

Like, OK, Cixah and Wave. Let me propose to you a different situation:
Suppose, instead of taking the Foil Goyf, he took a basic land from the pack because someone agreed to pay him $10,000 cash for taking that basic land. How would that change your assessment of the situation, and why? Because from the perspective of "best competitive pick vs. pick that gives higher expected monetary return", that is basically the same thing.
Again, I'm not saying that I agree with the people damning Maynard over this, but you have to realize that
Everyone else in the world who understands that you don't look a gift horse in the mouth would take the stamped foil goyf because its a fucking foil goyf. Is entirely not a valid counter-argument to anyone that is.

Well this doesn't end Fifa's corruption, not by a long shot. It's a very small step but a step nonetheless.

Because one method is sanctioned by WotC and a legitimate way to play Magic, and hundreds/thousands of other people do the same thing around the world, and one isn't? Pretty simple imo. If Wizards made it so that tournament-used cards aren't worth anything then accepting money is clearly match-fixing/bribery.

I thought that tournament cards were specifically stamped so as to be of 0 value can someone explain to me how cards in MtG in this context work?

When there only exists one of something in the world, with a large number of collectors who want it, there's not really an arbitrary way for WotC to make it have "zero value".
The only way to make them have no value is for WotC to print a billion of them.

So there is only one of these in the world? Is this common with Magic cards? This part confuses me.

The card in it's normal form is already one of the most expensive cards printed in the last 15 years. Foil versions of cards usually triple their 2ndary market value. So when you add that on top of that that this was drafted at a high bracket level at a professional tournament(and the mark proves that), it's pretty crazy.

The realer the chance gets the higher the chances I bust out the book I think to prevent it.

Hmm, yet another classic franchise game designer going to Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iga/bloodstained-ritual-of-the-night?ref=category
This time, it's one of the directors on Castlevania: Symphony of the Night making a spiritual successor to that.
It seems so strange that so many old successful devs have to move to crowdfunding to create real successors to their games. Guess the suits at publishers only really understand the value of the franchise and not the actual product underneath it.
