We've gone over (in this thread) how I'm 5'11" ~150 lbs. I am (or at least, used to be) very fit, but was never jacked. From what I remember from high school, gymnasts were a lot like swimmers in that regard. You'd get very fit and have a good body shape, but you don't really get swole in a sport that requires lean muscle and doesn't focus too much one one muscle group. That said most gymnasts I knew were fucking strong as hell despite that and could pick me up with one hand despite looking like half a football player. Male cheerleaders too. It differs a bit once you hit college - people tend to specialize more in the events they're good at. So someone who specializes in Rings will generally get huge in college, while someone who specializes more on high bar or p-bars will usually be taller/skinnier (because it provides better swing). Of course, there are some tanks who are good at floor and vault. The Army team (West Point) had a guy who was like my height, but probably weighed 250? Absolute monster of a guy. One home meet, he was on floor. First pass - double front. As he lands, you hear a ridiculous crunch. He destroyed his knee, but also broke our floor. He tried to keep going through his routine, but thankfully couldn't. He was out for a while after that one. A crunch? Holy shit, that's disgusting. As a bio major, I cringe at the thought of the human body failing like that. asdf

Oh man, you should a regular college practice. So many injuries and close calls.
I've seen some terrifying stuff. Sophomore year I watched my captain peel off the rings and break his C4 spinous (spelling?) process. He got up and walked away (but after being swarmed by our ATs, was quickly tossed on a gurney and brought to the hospital). He was competing in ECACs like 3 months later.
One gymnastics practice is enough to see that the human body is insane.

No, moving synovial fluid (fluid in your joints) around in your knuckles isn't going to cause arthritis. Crack away.

If something cracks and it hurts - don't do it.
If something cracks and it doesn't hurt - whatever, it's fine.

Joints in hands and feet are very similiar but serve different functions. Feet joints need to be longer for stability and supporting weight. Hand joints need to be smaller for dexterous tasks.

Yeah I actually know synovial fluid is the same everywhere, and it's ok, moreso bragging about my talent for toe cracking. I cracked them three times as I posted this.
Neck is the best though, I secretly hope nobody accidentally severs their spinal cord doing it, and then all those shocked reactions over the years will be been a massive "I told you so."

Every once in a while I get one that ends in a horrific snap-crack and a shot of pain down my spine and I think "oh God I finally paralyzed myself".
Worth tho

I regularly crack knuckles, toes, neck, back, hips, elbows, ankles sometimes.
My L4/L5 vertebrae are somewhat compressed, so waking up in the morning and doing manual traction to get my whole lower back to crack feels amaaaaaaazing.
Gymnastics really fucked me up lol

Just tingling the nerves then. If you actually did it, you'd suddenly feel quite unburdened.
