Doesn't matter if Lucius beats Canas. Canas only needs 4 stats: defenses, HP, and the constitution not to get 2-timed consistently. The rest is handled by the books he's carrying anyway, shamanic magic too stronk. So with a capped power (30), and two attacks that crit (x2 x3) you couldd on paper deal up to 180 HP to anyone in a single fight. You'd still need 37 HP to survive the dragon, 30 power, enough constitution and speed to attack twice with the very heavy tome (I don't know if that part's feasible) and to crit twice. Nils and supports can help with this. | ||

The C and D rank tomes only have a difference of 2 and 1 Might respectively which is not that major considering Lucius will generally have about 4 more MAG than Canas until he caps out at about lvl 11 Bishop. And even with 9 levels Canas typically still doesn't catch up to Lucius. This comparison also ignores the fact Light Tomes have crit stats while Dark Tomes don't. The B rank tomes can be ignored because they're the long-range ones and since Eclipse does %hp damage it's hard to compare to other stuff. The A rank tomes have a difference of 3 Might but the Light Time has a 15% crit chance. The S rank tome has a difference of 7-8 Might but Aureola also gives +5 RES and is mainly for Link Battles and killing the final boss, while Luce has 25%(!!) crit so it's not really comparable... | ||

 Canas is one of my favourite characters and he's pretty powerful right off the bat (and more autonomous than the frail Lucius) so he ends up level 40 every playthrough and most of the time he had 26+ power, 20+ resistance and 15+ defense without any RNG manipulation so I never really had to complain about his stats. | ||
