Note related works to the latter are in the same subforum as the Age of Dusk work. In terms of Black Library novels, the best ones are considered to have been written by Abnett. Eisenhorn, Ravenor, and (the still incomplete) Bequin trilogies are terrific, and the Gaunt's Ghosts anthology are all good. The Ciaphas Cain series is basically the Flashman of 40K. The Horus Heresy books are hit or miss given their wide array of authors (though normally hit, nowadays), as are the SM-centric books (depends on the author and your preferences etc).
Are there any fanfics/books related to the new Necron lore? I really enjoy the idea of ageless overlords controlling mindless armies and engaging in political intrigue, I read through the Codex lore like 3 times already lol

The Necron codex is pretty new, so alot of the older fanfics aren't updated to reflect this, and the Black Library generally doesn't publish alot of Xenos-centric novels (there are some Eldar ones).
You'll see it in the the Age of Dusk (Shape of the Nightmare was written before the Ed.5 codex) and some of its related works, but I can't think of any off the top of my head that has them updated to reflect this. Some of the /tg/ related fics are, but those are pretty cracky.
