and, too bad clem won against maru because he was not up to this challenge. maru would have no chance too because terran has to be around 20% better to win against zerg and reynor looks great so no one can beat him except zerg. Yeah I think Cure can squeeze by Solar but no way he beats Reynor, so we gotta hope Solar doesn’t choke and beats Cure so the finals is not utterly one sided. Given how Solar demolished Serral, he might have something prepared for Cure, and his ZvT is quite strong so he has a shot I really don’t think Solar demolished Serral, he deserved to win but he threw out a very risky game 1 build that Serral didn’t quite defend perfectly, and Serral still almost played from behind into an even game.
Both Serral and Maru didn’t drop out on account of brilliance from their opponents, their opponents did play well but they made big blunders, uncharacteristic ones.
Did Clem skip the handshake? Come on man. On the other hand (pun intended) I think the etiquette should 100% be the loser initiates. The SC2 protocol of the winner coming over after you’ve suffered a crushing disappointment is definitely something I don’t like.
I think Cure can do this but he’s going to have to play out of his mind. He’s a bit more measured and rounded than a Byun or Clem and I think that stylistically matches up well against both Solar and Reynor’s styles

Not really sure I agree here. Absolute peak Serral feels pretty bullet-proof. I think the contrast between usual Reynor and peak Reynor is just a bit bigger.
Not that any of them touch absolute peak Rogue, cus that guy showed up roughly once a year to ensure everyone else's favorite player got humiliated.

Whoa, Reynor really pumped. Strong showing.

It's different in boardgames like chess because the players directly face each other and the handshake is the official way of resigning.
Having the loser initiate the handshake in SC2 tournaments would be odd. The winner would celebrate, be at the center of attention, move on to the interview, and so on, and the loser would have to interrupt all that to shake hands.
Not sure whether Clem deliberately ignored Reynor or was simply caught up in his own thoughts, though.

I do think people talk too much and care too much about the handshake. Clem and Reynor hold a ton of mutual respect for each other and Clem being down and cought up in in his own thoughts and Reynor walking away simply respecting this. We had players crying in the past.
Its absolutely fine to have no handshake. my 2 cents

You do not make hellions to kill a queen, but hellbats do.

Losing is brutal and not giving someone time to regather their thoughts and emotions, but immediately having to do the handshake congratulating your opponent on beating yourself is rough.

Rogue in an offline best of seven wasn't real dude. Just an avatar of pure nightmares. I don't think he really existed.

As i edited my post, a single worker do more damage than a hellion to a Queen .... ahahahhahahahahah

I mean, Clem choked hard in the last 2 games, Reynor is playing well, but I'm not sure he's unstoppable IMO when he gets in the zone Reynor’s very clutch, but in some of his deeper runs in these big events he’s a tad lucky at times, be it his opponents or his brackets. No astounding play from Reynor knocked Serral and Maru out here.
Perhaps uncharitable but it was no Reynor brilliance that had Maru donate a map at match point with a terrible build and awful mistakes at Katowice when he made his first WC.
Serral at his best is as close to bulletproof as we’ve seen and even he drops sometimes, but when he does hit form it’s often an imperious stomp. See Maru in GSL
Reynor I feel the stars have to align where he both hits his peak form, which is way above his regular and he gets a bit of luck along the way. He also makes group or whatever equivalents exist a little harder as he’s just not as resolutely consistent

Feel weird that the departure of Rogue make players like Solar to shine later.

Most skewed stat in SC2 history given Rogue was either incredible or middling and the Bo7s only ever came up when he was on it because you never play Bo7s unless you get through the early stages
His Bo5 stats aren’t even that remarkable

Impressive from Cure, he really is in god mode this year! Hopefully he doesn’t show too many good builds vs Solar, he is gonna need a lot vs Reynor

This was a Gumi build right? Or very close to one Gumi did recently. Cool mixup from Cure.
