It seems to me that all the top players are really close in terms of level, I don't know if that was the case in broodwar maybe it was or maybe it's sc2 is "too easy" in a sense that macro should be maybe harder or micro harder it would be great to see not so perfects fights / macro, and the players struggling more with their own mangagement when they have more, it would maybe allow more comebacks too. But maybe I'm talking non sense here
Serral, Reynor and Clem are already qualified for Katowice, this tournament is not a Premier and (amass random excuses). Apart of that, these last tournaments have been kind of onesided. The previous season finals this year were more balanced when it came to korean vs foreigners.
Very strong performance by Solar, Maru's experience in TvT showed up while Clem today played well at times but his nerves evidently got the better of him.

As long as Reynor wins the tournament, I'm fine with it.

Liquipedia apparently doesn't list this tournament as premier, so it clearly doesn't matter to anyone what happens.
I wonder why it isn't listed as Premier. Probably because the prize pool is "only" 15k. It still gives out roughly the same ESL points as TSL so it should be in the same category of importance.

Who cares? Premiere tournaments don't really hold much value no more, since almost all of them are premiere anyway, even fun tournaments like GSL vs the world or HSC.
A new category should have been created a long time ago, to list the actual top tier tournaments, like GSL, IEM, Blizzcon in a separate bucket.

HSC seem to switch between premier and major depending on the prize money so I think it's that. You need $10K for first place to be premier or something?
Then again if the 2016 Cross Finals can somehow be a premier event then anything can.

People often argue stuff about tournaments and use tournament statistics from Liquipedia with its tournament classification. This GPC 2019 Season 1 being counted as Premier but not ASUS makes 0 sense but will influence those discussions. In that sense it bothers me.

Yeah it only meets two of the five criteria: Liquipedia:Notability Guidelines since it's 50% invite and only has a 15k prize pool.

I don't agree that GSL vs the world is a "fun tournament" but yeah - what liquipedia considers a premier tournament and what not doesn't really hold much value except for people who want to brag that player X won the most amount of tournaments that are considered "premier" according to liquipedia arbitrary criteria

One of the 5 is offline play which is not viable outside of GSL in 2020 so it should be disregarded. It's got 2/4 then, should be enough to count given that one of the two is ESL points.

This is a good point really. World Championships and Starleagues should be in a distinct category. The way it is currently is misleading to anyone who doesn't follow the game closely.

The EPT points requirement was only added because of the pandemic iirc, so it was originally 3 out of 4.
