This is the funkiest format ever, I feel as confused as when browsing old GSL tournaments.

There's nothing funky about round robin. It's the scheduling that's more challenging.

yes the round robin itself its not funky, the scheduling is. Then the fact that korea doesnt have round robin, but seeds and play ins?

And also, weren't koreans region locked?

The seeding process is the same. Just Europe gets four seeds from this event, whereas Korea gets six seeds from GSL.

not a fan of the format so far honestly. Couldn't something closer to the GSL format have worked fine ?

Agreed. Playing out the group stages over so many days kills the hype.
But I am still looking forward to the bracket stage of EU. The scene has developed in a way where the top 8 of EU is so far above everyone else that the group stages feel a bit pointless regardless of the format.

I like the variety, not every tournament should be GSL style. That said the schedule is wonky and kind of hard to follow. Maybe just do the groups in order next time. Or like 2 matches per group a day instead of the mix and match.

GSL groups also have way more upset potential which make them so much more interesting IMO

I like Round Robin Groups and I like that they play out over a longer time and not the entire Group in one or two days.

E: also Skillous still seems to struggle quite a bit under pressure

I hope he finds his NationWars form in time for his other group stage matches..

I'm also disappointed about the format and scheduling. It's way too long and not really intuitive.

I like the format because playing only 2 games and dropping out in GSL-like groups is not really showing a player's abilities. Especially when the group can easily have 1 or even 2 players that are pretty sure to get out. Bigger round-robin groups give everyone a better opportunity to show their skill. Simply generally seeding matters less in bigger groups.

The schedule could be better. Maybe every day has games only from two groups and 4 games from a group per a day. This would also give one whole day to prepare between matches. The issue of being lower prestige per match than in GSL-like groups is harder to solve and would probably require more marketing to raise interest in each match.

Harstem really needs to turn this around, especially with so many pvps coming up (and a tough match against big gabe)

Valid point, this format gives up and coming players much MUCH more visibility which is great in the long run because it gives them an incentive to keep on playing and putting efforts into getting better. But from an entertainment point of view i'd rather see the best players get to play each other as soon as possible instead of watching Ziggy and Gerald fighting each other in a quite low stake BO3.

The best players will meet in the playoffs. Let the others have their time in the limelight. Most of these people would have never seen a WCS main stream.

Grant and Creighton Olsen are really bad. Also, wtf is Creighton trying to brag about trying to get people to call Clem Napoleon. Dafuq?
