PASSPORT QUALIFIERS

In order to participate in one of these qualifiers, players must hold a passport of the respective region, with each player being limited to one region only. All of the qualified players will receive paid travel and accommodation.

Open Stages will be played in a single elimination best of three format, while the Final Stages being also best of three but double elimination, with the very final match being best of five. In the Grand Final of the double elimination bracket (day two of the Oceania, Latin America and Taiwan qualifiers), the player who advances through the lower bracket must defeat the player from the winner's bracket twice. This is to give the player from the winner's bracket an advantage due to going undefeated thus far. The first match they play will be a best of 3, the 2nd time they meet it will be a best of 5.

Btw, they just changed the date for the Latin American qualifiers, so don't trust the old date on Liquipedia.

I don't really understand the invite system: They want to invite 4 players based on WCS ranking, but not just #1-4? So do those 4 have to play in different regions, play different races, need a big fanbase etc. , What are the important criteria besides WCS rank?

Rank 1-4 are invited. But invited players have to pay for their flight and have to win one round before receiving 150 WCS points. So its better for them to try to qualify through qualifiers.

looks like it's a passport requirement for regional qualifiers, thus polt violet hydra can't play in NA

I see, thanks. So I assume Polt will be invited as he's no.1 in pts and Hydra/Violet may play in the NA server qualifiers.

He has to set up the stream to show up under the event.

Why is Neeb not invited to stage 2?

Snute vs Lilbow is so weird.

Snute tries ling/bling only with drops both games.

(P)Lilbow 2 - 0 (Z)Snute
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

guess so. It's actually quite impressive how the guy strives in favorable meta and struggles otherwise. Not a lot of other players seem to match as well the waxing and waning of the meta.

actually no he's legit, but he can't seem to get out of an unfavorable meta. I'm pretty sure he'll never make a good run at a time when P is not doing well overall like Polt can make some incredible IEM run on the back of his TvP while the mu is borderline broken. I think he lacks creativity and the ability to make the best of a scrappy situation. He's good when he can dictate the pace and let his gameplan flow, which is the case for P in all mus in the current meta.

He also has the tendency to throw games by taking the worst possible engagements, especially in PvT where he often takes fight he doesn't need to because he misreads how strong his army is.
If he was more patient and worked on his decision making he would be up there for sure

Great showing by Soul by the way, beating Zanster, Namshar, Welmu and showtime and going 2-1 vs Snute and Uthermal. We may finally have a new top EU Terran in the making.

And that says a lot about the level of foreigner players unfortunately.

It just seems that there is still a lot of holes in guru's plays but he's been on quite a hot streak.

I can't imagine koreans losing to him.

If anything, this is exactly type of player that Koreans would lose to. Their brains are programmed to look for sense in their opponents behavior. When they face Gurus and Hases the brain hits hard reset.

I mean that's the info we have, so it seems clear to me.

WILDCARDS

Four players will be directly invited to the event based on their 2016 WCS points and will receive paid accommodation (but not travel).

They will invite the four players with the most WCS points who have not qualified. But they still have to accept, so if a team can't afford sending the player, they will just move further down the ranking.

Just confused to what that means if one of the invites qualifies. Do they give it to the next highest player or do they give it to the player they beat in the qualifier.

Not the first time he did that vs Nerchio I think, I can remember another 2-0 into 2-3 vs Snute from Nerchio.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

That was quite the comeback Semper just pulled off. I thought he was dead a couple times there for sure.

Just confused to what that means if one of the invites qualifies. Do they give it to the next highest player or do they give it to the player they beat in the qualifier

Since invites are based on WCS points, it would be logical if a player that has not qualified but has most WCS points would be invited. Therefore, after Snute's qualification, Hydra is qualified for invite.

I think the OP of this thread says that the NA Qualifier is at 4pm Pacific, but TL and the bracket page itself both say 3pm Pacific. May be good to update the OP.

PsiOniC retired because he's working in the culinary/kitchen industry so he can not play during evenings and MarineLorD won 3-2 over PtitDrogo and he's playing Dayshi tomorrow for Topdogs. I wish we could see more of MarineLorD in online tournaments like Corsair or The Gauntlet Cup!

Yes as long as you are eligible to play WCS you can play the SEA/Asia, Europe or NA qualifier.

crazy game on Dusk Towers between pucK and Elazer ; pucK got some huge damage with his warp prism + speedepts pressure but nearly died to the counter roach ravager pressure ; in the end with only 31 drones Elazer could never transition and had to surrender.
