Original SourceIntel Extreme Masters returns to Shanghai on July 28th to 31st for its first stop to kick off season 11 with a StarCraft® II tournament which will be a WCS 5000 Circuit Event. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/IEM_Season_XI_-_ShanghaiPASSPORT QUALIFIERSIn order to participate in one of these qualifiers, players must hold a passport of the respective region, with each player being limited to one region only. All of the qualified players will receive paid travel and accommodation. Open Stages will be played in a single elimination best of three format, while the Final Stages being also best of three but double elimination, with the very final match being best of five. In the Grand Final of the double elimination bracket (day two of the Oceania, Latin America and Taiwan qualifiers), the player who advances through the lower bracket must defeat the player from the winner's bracket twice. This is to give the player from the winner's bracket an advantage due to going undefeated thus far. The first match they play will be a best of 3, the 2nd time they meet it will be a best of 5. I don't really understand the invite system: They want to invite 4 players based on WCS ranking, but not just #1-4? So do those 4 have to play in different regions, play different races, need a big fanbase etc. , What are the important criteria besides WCS rank?

Rank 1-4 are invited. But invited players have to pay for their flight and have to win one round before receiving 150 WCS points. So its better for them to try to qualify through qualifiers.

I see, thanks. So I assume Polt will be invited as he's no.1 in pts and Hydra/Violet may play in the NA server qualifiers.

Polt should still try the open NA qualifier, if he doesn't make it he gain take the invite.

I'm pretty sure he'll never make a good run at a time when P is not doing well overall like Polt can make some incredible IEM run on the back of his TvP while the mu is borderline broken. I think he lacks creativity and the ability to make the best of a scrappy situation. He's good when he can dictate the pace and let his gameplan flow, which is the case for P in all mus in the current meta.

He also has the tendency to throw games by taking the worst possible engagements, especially in PvT where he often takes fight he doesn't need to because he misreads how strong his army is. If he was more patient and worked on his decision making he would be up there for sure

I mean that's the info we have, so it seems clear to me.
WILDCARDS
Four players will be directly invited to the event based on their 2016 WCS points and will receive paid accommodation (but not travel).
They will invite the four players with the most WCS points who have not qualified. But they still have to accept, so if a team can't afford sending the player, they will just move further down the ranking.

Since invites are based on WCS points, it would be logical if a player that has not qualified but has most WCS points would be invited. Therefore, after Snute's qualification, Hydra is qualified for invite.

That would be kinda cool, since we haven't seen both of them in a while.

PsiOniC retired because he's working in the culinary/kitchen industry so he can not play during evenings and MarineLorD won 3-2 over PtitDrogo and he's playing Dayshi tomorrow for Topdogs. I wish we could see more of MarineLorD in online tournaments like Corsair or The Gauntlet Cup!

People always show up for the EU qualifiers but NA looks so empty and weak everytime, guys please
|
Just tuned in to watch NA qualifiers. First game Welmu vs Harstem.
Righto.
|
Welmu vs Harstem is actually quite fun
|
don't think Harstem meant to be BM, probably just hit a wrong key

crazy game on Dusk Towers between pucK and Elazer ; pucK got some huge damage with his warp prism + speedepts pressure but nearly died to the counter roach ravager pressure ; in the end with only 31 drones Elazer could never transition and had to surrender.

will we be able to download replays of EU qualifiers?
