Honestly, Tasteless put it really well. Randomly timed DT drops or mid game DTs are really really good. Unless the Terran is super on point on defense all over the place, which we don't even see from the highest level, they will for sure do damage. Having DTs in the mid game are also super good against drops, so Protosses feeling like they are forced into going phoenix have other options besides that.

That's a wrong comparison. By killing an observer you are sure Protoss isn't building any other unit from robo.

Phoenixes accomplish totally different things than what the DTs do though

In a normal situation and kinda even game I'd say always worth. But if you are way behind in workers and you don't plan to be out in the map, isn't it better to spend the energy on a mule instead of denying vision?

I'm just saying if you're -only- thinking of the eco side it's -never- worth it. The rest of the discussion, that is, energy vs blinding protoss, keeping their robo occupied with building obs rather than other stuff etc is a different argument.

This wasn't random. Journey lost plenty of SCVs so there's an assumption he will throw every energy into MULEs making DTs much stronger.

I feel like with bases mining out faster, scans and supply are often better than mules

Remove its light tag and increase baneling's damage should do the trick.
