Kudos to everyone organising tournaments. I have to say that I feel like "Korea Championship series" is an overly grandiose name for something with a 17 dollar prizepool.
Prize pool confused the hell out of me too so I PMed the guy. He legit, no lie, said that 1st place wins $16.99 (20,000 won) The tournament format seems so long and so well thought out that I initially figured a $17 prize pool was impossible but... Yeah, that's what he said so I put it down since that's my job as a translator.

But are they waiting on something else to add? Like sponsor products? Or a crowdfunded prize pool? It's very strange

If you want to PM him yourself for more details then by my guest. But be warned that his response in English may cause more confusion than clarity
I don't think so barny94, they would have had an official translator do the job. Besides there are only 2 seasons of StarLeague this year (according to blizzard). It seems to just be an amateur tournament.
I can already tell that this will be the pinnacle of korean sc2 in 2016. I wouldn't be surprised if SSL and GSL will surrender after seeing the awesomeness that is KCS. Not adding huge amounts of money is a genius idea, it is all about the competition and glory of winning this Starleague. This league might actually be the true heir to OSL and its identity in korea. What a time to be aLive

OGN will probably start broadcasting SC2 with the KCS again like what they did with BW thanks to Sonic (RIP)

No this is another StarLeague, the other one is SSL and it's another independent tournament the thing is I was wondering if Blizzard has a rule about prize money concerning the amount of WCS points it gives off, isn't it? Like 3000 WCS points is a very good amount of point, but 17 dollars pool looks ridiculous, so like first place 10 dollars, 2nd place 5 dollars and 3 place 2 dollars? With this much amount of point giving out, I think it's going to be a pro tourney rather than an amateur tourney, the KeSPA players (especially those who missed out the SSL qualifiers) wouldn't want to miss out this amount of points in my opinion RElly looking forward to how how this will turn out.

It's the KCS, not the WCS point system. Although I have to admit I have no clue what the KCS System is.

Hopefully the dude will message Seeker and inform us..
I can only guess he's trying to set up something similar to Olimoleague or Leifeng cup?
You take on those stressful qualifiers... You fight your way through this 48 man tournament... You've made it to the S level round of 16.... Through the round of 8... To the semis, wow, you've beaten a lot of top tier Koreans... You've made it to the finals, your hands are shaking, you're so close... Unbelievable, you've won this highest level tournament... Mouth watering, you accept your prize for this arduous journey... ... $17.

Even worse, you get second and get nothing
Alas.. The $17 was just within your reach, but you let yourself down. You strike the wall next to you, the tilt is strong. That trip to McDonald's where you don't order from the dollar menu was in sight... Back to the practice grind.. There's always season 2... You declare to yourself, "That $17 will be mine... next time..."

With KCS' Korean focus and winner-takes-all-format it seems like they're trying to replace IEM.
If you guys accept donations I'm willing to double your price pool as long as you change the name to "Draik Korea StarLeague 2016 Season 1" like Hot6 does with the gsl. seems like a fair deal to me.

Fixed? It's 20,000 won. It's an amateur tournament

Lets hope it is not!
Pretty safe to say it is. Prize pool, the fact anyone seems to be able to sign up.
It surely ain't a third big Korean league anyways.
