Forgg exists to deny life that opportunity! I still get shivers from the way Forgg played vs Life, even if Life was not playing remotely close to his best.

This is too broad a topic but basically Mvp fought bl/infestor with a broken back and beat Protoss during the second Protoss revolution of the meta against 3 of the top 5 best Protoss players. He also beat Terrans during the reign of GomTvT.

Life played in BL/infestor but he never was able to dominate it at the end cause of his ZvZ unlike Mvp during the TvT era. He won MLG under WM and Hellbats, fell off for an year and made a comeback at the end of 2014 where I do think the meta was basically even for all races.

In terms of meta they played in Mvp had it worse.

Playing Field: Life wins this as the most current era usually means its header. Though its not always the case in every game (like the current iteration of LoL and the breakup of their best teams).

lol, really MVP playing during WoL to early HOTS had a tougher "meta" than Life during WoL to hots?

Wasn't GSL Terran dominated for every single season except the last few with BL+Infestor, then HOTS comes, and it's all about terran again, this was the period MVP played, the period Terran got nerfed time and time again, and the race continued to shine.

You can make an argument either way right now, maybe you value GSL's more, maybe you value strength of competiton more etc.... but at least make good arguments, not try to paint like MVP was fighting against the odds, how many of MVP finals were against other Terran's rofl? Like 80% of them?

There's so much revisionism going on with that part of SC2 history. Life's first GSL win came at a time when Zerg was the least represented race in Code S. It wasn't until after that season that Zerg began to completely dominate the GSL, but because Life was the first of what became a string of Zerg GSL winners, people say "oh he won during the Broodlord era". Meanwhile most of Mvp's wins came during the GOMTvT era too, and not just at the very beginning, but at the heart of it, and all but one of his GSL finals were TvTs, which should tell you something.

Squirtle
Life

I meant the ones he actually won. If you look at all the finals he played, then they were all TvTs until he played Squirtle in a Protoss dominated season, and because he beat Protoss when he himself looked vulnerable, this legend was born as if he always won against all odds and with a weak race, which wasn't really the case. 2 seasons later when he played against Life Zergs had actually been struggling in GSL for a while and not really dominating at all. In fact, the two big favorites were Taeja and Mvp, two Terrans.

MVP fighting against the odds with 3 broken hands and a super weak race. /s

That's 11 Terran's on that screenshot, and 9 of other races, 7 different terran's, 8 different protoss/zergs.

To the people saying MVP is the best player of all time and Life should win 2 more titles before he can compete...

MVP has been irrelevant for 2-3 years. Half of SC2s lifetime, the "best player ever" hasn't even been playing. Meanwhile, Life has won time and time and time again.
Additionally, MVP won most of his GSL when his race was overpowered AND there were a lot more GSLs to win at the time with a lot less competition.

Life has clearly shown to be superior to MVP by now, same as a number other players can easilly rival MVP by now. People disagreeing can usually only draw the "more GSL won" card. I want to hear some other, less easily disposed argument plz.

I don't think this even remotely addresses the MVP argument.

Let me turn yours around. Life was irrelevant for the first 2-3 years of SC2, half of SC2s lifetime the "best player ever" hasn't even been playing.

Meanwhile MVP was winning and winning and winning until injuries overtook his ability to practice and play.

The real fact is that MVP was the undisputed king of Wings of Liberty. There were other players worth mentioning like MC, Nestea, or whoever, but MVP was king.

The heart of the swarm period has not had a clear dominate player. Innovation looked like he was on the verge of doing it at the beginning, but then collapsed...Life is making a strong claim to history right now.

Life like MVP and MC traveled the world conquering tournaments everywhere and they are going to be some of the most remembered names of SC2 10 years from now when there are only 100 people who still care about and are flaming people following SC3 about how much better SC2 was. Who will be remembered as the best? Probably neither because the 100 people still following 10 years from now will be talking about some 13 year old that came along 2 years from now and won 2 tournaments a year for 6 years straight...and his going to kill everybody in StarCraft 3 too because he's just a superior human...even if he can't make code S...
