Koreans tried to win the German Pro Series several times in the past. But they never managed to overcome players like ShoWTimE or HeroMarine who dominated the EPS in 2014. Now, with new WCS rules in effect, all Koreans are gone. Some people are happy about that, some will surely miss the KvG battles. Anyway, lets focus on determining the truly best German player in Starcraft 2.

Yeah that might be the case.

Today will be interesting in any case, first cup after the koreans left and a few players might still be alive in the katowice qualifiers, when this starts (mainly Showtime).
|
Hey does this still include Switzerland residents like it used to? Can't seem to find any official ruling.

Yay, Petraeus in EPS will be sick . Good luck buddy, will we finally have a zerg champion?
|
Might pose a thread to the fact, that no non-euro has ever won EPS. But that is also something exiting and a zerg is needed, so welcome to him. I doubt, that he can get into the first cup, though.

Yeah he has to climb the Major ladder first right?

Yes, should be the case. But it is easily possible to make the finals with 4 cups as a good player; biGs only needed 2 and made it to nr 3 of the final ranking earlier.

As far as I know he would need ESL Trusted to participate which takes weeks and why many don't bother to play...

Why did they change the name ? 6 time ESL DBG champion doesn't sound as good. :[

I think we should be democratic here:
Poll: Official TL Name for this tournamentEPS (29) 94% ESL DBG (2) 6% 31 total votes Your vote: Official TL Name for this tournament (Vote): ESL DBG (Vote): EPS

There has been a sponsorship by ComputerBILD Spiele (CBS), a games outlet of the German tabloid BILD. It has been a slogan for the EPS for some while which has been ignored by the respective game communities (people in the scene have nothing much in common with CBS reader). I guess they try to pander more to the CBS (a magazine known to translate even common English terms into German) or it is part of the sponsorship deal.
Needless to say, many people in the scene dislike the change. But the EPS has lost so much prestige in the last years that former fans have become indifferent about it anyway. However, the ESL claims that viewers have increased in the last few seasons (despite the indisputable decline in prestige) and that the EPS runs a profit, so it probably is not going anywhere.

Apperently there was a second name change now. I like ESL Meisterschaft better than DBG, but still, this will always be EPS to me. Btw., 2nd cup is today.

Lol another namechange?? Try as much as you want but im still gonna call it EPS

On March 03 2015 21:55 GreenMash wrote: Lol another namechange?? Try as much as you want but im still gonna call it EPS Haha, at least this name isn't bad. At least it's fully german (like they wanted; still they managed to put "gamer" in the name rofl) and doesn't sound retarded.
|
I think the new name is good. It states what the tournament is supposed to be. ESL Pro Series didn't make a lot of sense since the Amateur Series doesn't really exist anymore and it's quite generic (Pro Series could mean a lot of stuff).

Would be cool if anybody could update the price money distribution on the liquipedia page. All the price money has been reduced by 50% as far as i know.

Let's hope DH won't lose too many viewers when this begins =P

its quite unfortunate for the SC2 finals to be played today. The playoffs so far even had an english coverage, but the finals wont get as many viewers as the groupstages...well, i guess they had the weekend set a long time ago.
|
It's unfortunate, but it's probably hard to avoid, if they hold a multiple game championship. Still, wouldn't hurt to have the finals tomorrow.
