While I admittedly wasn't around to see combatEX, what I've heard about him is far worse than Avilo who strictly balance whines. The posters in this thread didn't have to tune into his stream. They knew what the "radio cast" was all about

How is Avilo anywhere close to CombatEX? CombatEX is a cheater. Avilo is outspoken about his controversial opinions. Where's the comparison?

It was a lot about CombatEx being a generally shitty person online as well I think

I gotta say, I don't have much of an issue with Avilo being featured or not, but the point they're making looks valid

Oh, Avilo balance whined and talked shit about the only thing he does in life that makes him worth talking about?
What's new?

He shits on the game, it's designers, etc to the point that new viewer would be turned off of sc2 forever. He's BM, disrespectful, and thinks he is some incredible god at the game because... Reasons. It's not like "everyone is thinking it and Avilo is the only one saying it" it's just Avilo thinking it and just him spouting this non stop bullshit
You're spot on. Avilo is bad for the scene and it's good when people call him out on his toxicity.

Not just him being a dick on ladder, right?

It would not be the first time someone has been removed from the featured list because Teamliquid believed their content was detrimental to the site and scene. Avilo qualifies. It's not like his stream is even good enough quality to be featured anyway, I guess the ad money wasn't enough to buy a proper microphone.
Good idea!
And while we're at it, we can also ban all the Korean players without mic and/or camera, since their quality is surely worse than a stream with a cam and a bad mic.

Their streams are objectively better from a production standpoint since Avilo is not speaking in any of them.

It's cute that you think they're tuning in because they like him. You need only read his chat, the majority of people hate him, they're there to make fun of him.
If I turn on my stream right now with a static image I will get more views than Avilo. 1.3k people is not impressive. He is a circus act, the village idiot, the kind of person you put in the stocks and throw rotten fruit at. If anything he is a symptom of a diseased scene that needs a good clean-up, someone who should be left to languish in obscurity, not given pride of place on the Teamliquid frontpage.

Quite the litotes there One hundred and thirty, I'm sorry I'm quite tired
thing is, it doesn't matter if there are 100ish better ppl than him, there billions who are worse than him.
he is right to a certain point. ofc he is hugely exaggerating and raging and stuff - yet his understanding is deep enough to realise the game is not in a good condition. you do not need to be the WCS winner to see that mech does not work the way it worked in broodwar.
personally i do think there could be slight improvements here and there, but i will not say im unhappy about an average GM terran-rager (with a fanbase) that maybe will start a thinking process by the game developers.

sometimes the village idiot is more entertaining than the the actually game. this worries me more than a single bm-streamer.

You are toxic, really toxic for SC2 community, and you should stop doing this kind of stuff. Stick to what you know and not venture into realms about you don't even have a clue.
|
There is no doubt in my mind that Avilo is a toxic figure and does not deserve to be featured on Team Liquid. The way he constantly blames extraneous factors for his own shortcomings instead of working hard on his weak areas in order to improve that really annoys me.
And as TotalBiscuit mentioned, his whiny voice and shitty mic quality doesn't help matters.
I totally agree with the calls to remove him from the featured streams. He is toxic and does in no way shape or form deserve it.
