This seems like a pretty tough group to pick. uhhh I guess PartinG and ByuL over Solar. Idk if Supernova has what it takes to get out of this group. He can be all over the place with his play. If he shows up on one of his good days he could even win it.
GSL S2 Code S - PartinG is at ~ 22.23 % chances for top 16 points of 2014 ~ 59.33 % of the time PartinG wins and their chances go up to ~ 30.76 %. ~ 40.67 % of the time PartinG loses and their chances go down to ~ 9.8 %. ------------------------------------------------- - SuperNova is at ~ 1.13 % chances for top 16 points of 2014 ~ 36.46 % of the time SuperNova wins and their chances go up to ~ 2.36 %. ~ 63.54 % of the time SuperNova loses and their chances go down to ~ 0.43 %. ------------------------------------------------- - ByuL is at ~ 2.99 % chances for top 16 points of 2014 ~ 45.62 % of the time ByuL wins and their chances go up to ~ 5.29 %. ~ 54.38 % of the time ByuL loses and their chances go down to ~ 1.05 %. ------------------------------------------------- - Solar is at ~ 10.12 % chances for top 16 points of 2014 ~ 58.59 % of the time Solar wins and their chances go up to ~ 14.51 %. ~ 41.41 % of the time Solar loses and their chances go down to ~ 3.92 %.
~ 36.46 % of the time SuperNova wins and their chances go up to ~ 2.36 %.
Does "SuperNova wins" mean that he advances in this case?
Yes. It means that ~36.46% of the time Supernova advances from this group. And when he does advance from the group then his chances to qualify for Blizzcon go up to ~2.36%.
If Supernova is on a good day, he can take the group. Unfortunately, if he's not on fire, I fear his excellent Z and P opponents will be too much for him to handle. I'd really like to see him advancing though, keeping T hope alive.
It's a close toss up between byul or solar for second, but I think byul will be able to take it. Would love to see supernova get out of this group though of course.
I really have no idea in this group. Last time I saw Supernova play, he looked like he had levelled up. I think PartinG for sure and the rest is anyone's guess. Whoever Artosis doesn't support, probably?
PartinG vs ByuL is a nice test for ByuL and how "good" he is. SKTT1 wont be playing play offs until later on next week so PartinG probably has had time to prepare for this group. When PartinG prepares he is normally choo chooing his way to victory in PvZ. If ByuL tops this group then his hype train is legit, but until then i have my doubts
supernova is awesome. He's been here for such a long time, always a good player but never the best. I want him to advance and make a GSL final for once, that would be really cool
This season final: Maru vs Supernova. I can dream, right?

I want Parting to make it out of the group, and I am confident he will. I hope Supernova can make it too, but I think that one is much harder to judge.
Pah, what happened to the "TERRANNNNN" rallying cry? Now Tastosis going for the full reverse cursing of the Terran race, but that WON'T work!!! Artosis broke his cursing power a while ago, and Tasteless never had any

Scratch Artosis and Tasteless deep enough and you'll find true sons of Aiur.

Indeed. I'm just thinking back to when 3 hatch by 4.30 was reckoned greedy - let alone the norm!
I get those flashbacks a lot as well. Sometimes I just feel it in the middle of a game and suddenly I'm building marine-tank in TvZ and then I lose horribly to mutas

God, I just tuned in to see PartinG fail his initial rush into destroy Byul trough superior multi-tasking. That was the sickest thing I've ever seen a Protoss do.
Bromortal frat is the best frat there is. Great micro from Parting. I didn't expect him to actually win that game. Even with a bad engagement at the end, he still crushed it :O

Wasn't really multitasking, just godly micro coupled with Byul not making enough queens.

Mostly not, but there was one point where he was warp prism microing his immortals at Byul's base while forcefielding and microing his immortals at home. Perfectly.

well yeah. but if you concentrate on it, it is not even that hard. There are tons of micro maps where you just have to do that. Note that behind all that he didn't do anything in his base so he JUST had to concentrate on micro. Not saying what he did wasn't awesome. it was monstrously awesome but it also is something other players still could do with some spare apm and it just proves that toss isn't even at its limits of being played.
Such micro is more common at terrans, where we already saw Maru, Marineking and others doing that. Maru proved that several times, for example holding a 2 base zergling/baneling allin with just 1 marauder and 2 marines

He kept on top of his macro as well as the situation allowed. Kept the front line reinforced. It's not exactly three-separate-battles-at-the-same-time level of multitasking, but still impressive.

Funny, I like Classic, Rain and HerO, acknowledge Parting and Dear - and I absolutely hate sOs. (whelp, not too long ago, I hated PartinG, too).
Edit: completely forgot about Zest. Make it HerO, Zest and Classic for "I like" and leave the rest alone. Oh well, I don't like Classic as well now. It's all about Zest and HerO. Or.. HerO. HERO!

Yep, kept on top of his warp cycles, hit chronos on gates, and warp ins at pylons which means not microing the battles.
Almost any other Protoss would have lost after that failed first attack. Parting won that game through superior skill.

for that he gets a small applause: flanking, positioning of important units, EMPing microing, avoiding storms, focussing units and macroing at home/teching/calling down mules and making buildings, bringing your reinforcements safe across the map... I am not really impressed by a protoss that does some micro and some macro behind it, this should be within the 200+ APM range every pro player has. At least every terran in diamond and above can do that.
Although I have to give it to parting that he did it without mistakes and he did it although toss normally don't need to do it, so it was impressive and entertaining, but i hope every protoss will finally learn to do some micro while macroing, to abuse units more, to make games more impressive again

Oh, please. Not another post, in a PvZ game no less, from a QQ Terran who thinks that Sisyphus had it easy.

absolutely man. I am really blown away but on the other hand, I hate that other races need to do that to even stay alive and when a toss does it (and the race can even dominate without microing at all), its superimpressive, although when I started as terran that is what you just needed to know the very first to stay alive above platin: micro and macro at the same time. And this is what is so annoying in sc2, I think protoss isn't played to the max yet. Or why is it that they win so much and it wasn't even needed to micro the units that hard and still they win almost all tournaments 2014. I hate it that one race obviously needs less effort (mechanical whise) then the others for the win.

well yeah. but if you concentrate on it, it is not even that hard.
Well of course but it is nice to see good protoss micro once in a while.
absolutely man.
This isn't even remotely true.
If you think Protoss is so easy then switch to Protoss. You'll very quickly learn that it isn't so easy.
Keep balance whine out of the LR please...
what word didn't you get when i wrote that when I started as terran, which ofc includes that I switched I won't complain about balance, I just want every game with a toss as entertaining as this. Sorry if my intention wasn't clear enough for the slow joe in the back row (although I wrote it down). btw as protoss I did just fine after I learned to micro and multitask
On May 16 2014 18:40 Destructicon wrote: God, I just tuned in to see PartinG fail his initial rush into destroy Byul trough superior multi-tasking. That was the sickest thing I've ever seen a Protoss do.
Wasn't really multitasking, just godly micro coupled with Byul not making enough queens.
He kept on top of his macro as well as the situation allowed. Kept the front line reinforced. It's not exactly three-separate-battles-at-the-same-time level of multitasking, but still impressive.
Oh, please. Not another post, in a PvZ no less, from a QQ Terran who thinks that Sisyphus had it easy.
-_-
oh i am not terran anymore dude. So sorry for the QQing, wasn't meant to balance whine. Just wanted to say: Look what still can be done with this race, it isn't even at the limit. And moreover LOOK HOW ENTERTAINING TOSS CAN BE IF IT IS PLAYED WITH SOME MICRO (but yeah, he took a page of a "how to micro terran units" book)

Well when you see a game that overwhelmingly recommended you tend to expect a godly macro game for the ages.
no, you expect an awesome game.
which it was.
Which tend to be macro games.
To each their own I suppose.
The way I see it, there are phenomenal 5 star games that are very often macro games, but I find myself (and a lot of others) voting 5 stars for a special, quirky, and unique game. That Habitation Station was all of that.
It really seems like Tastosis is enjoying themselves today! I haven't gotten to watch much of Code S as of late, and this is a really nice change from the last time I was a regular viewer.

Parting Game 2 was 5 Star as well for me. Also it was no macro game, but a 2 base allin with cool micro not seen from toss in a long game (and sorry I exrpressed it earlier that someone could mistake it as balance whine, I just want more toss do that)

They've been on fire this Code S. I think the change up with Wolf/Brendan from time to time has renewed them in some way.

Exactly, really great treat so far today!
Tastosis make all the difference for me. I immidiately switch of when I hear Wolf casting. He knows a lot about the gamers hair, but not about the game. He makes so many mistakes and false assumptions and he also has no humor. Also he doesn't like icecream.

I think its just a confidence thing, I think when Supernova is confident he's willing to try fancier riskier moves, but in a televised match he doesn't.

Switched to Terran for the season. I've played Toss since WOL, but recently I found I was getting bored. Hence, the change. I considered Zerg, but the race and the mechanics feel a little too alien for me while Terran and Protoss are more similar.
It's been a great change. I'm enjoying SC more than I have for a long time. Heck, I've laddered almost every day for the last couple of weeks. It's like falling in love with the game all over again. TvT pisses me off, though. I find it very frustrating.

Supernova you goddamn idiot. Don't pull scvs when you're timewarped, that's when it's too late. Also when you spot the pylon and let the probe escape it doesn't matter if you kill the pylon or not.

well ez wins maybe. But as everyone knows winning feels more satisfying if it is harder earned (talking about lower leagues here, not imbalance). Its like winning doesn't feel good when you cheat. same when I switched to zerg: 90% winrate in ZvZ since 75% in ZvP but like 30% in ZvT. But that is because I get outplayed all the time: my high winrates in ZvP and ZvZ got me into a higher league then I belong to. When I then play a terran, the games are always close (I don't play allins) but he outmultitasks me. When I watch the replays I see him doing 2x as much as other race opponents and then I did. So this explains why the 50% winrate based ladder doesn't make the game balanced. Obviously in my league the most players overall have like 50% winrate, but some races really play better then the other. So this is why it is funny: you could either say: I don't win vs terrans, this race must be imba, current tournament wins don't tell the whole story. Or you watch the replay and see...(at least in my case it is like that): well I get outplayed.

Seriously, godly MSC micro?
He killed 8 marines with it and delayed the factory which meant no widow mine AND no marines when the oracle hit
So a banshee that just keeps killing marines one by one as they spawn would also be good micro? No matter what race you play, when terran doesn't have enough units from the start to push off aggression, you will be in great shape if you camp on top of production facilities and kill units as they come out. It is just how terran works.
It was just a numbers game, that's it. Both for MSC and the oracle.
Parting's gameplan and decision making was great. His micro.. well there was nothing special about that micro.

I still remember that ForGG game where he went CC first (with bunker) on Frost and died to one Zealot, one Stalker, and a Timewarp on his ramp. Don't remember who the Protoss was, though.

Godly results =! godly micro...
Who came up with "=!"? It doesn't mean what it seems to do. It's dumb.
=! is absolutely common for "is not(like)" or "the opposite"
as we are here on the internet, dealing with PHP, HTML, BBCode, why shouldn't =! or != be a thing ?
Same+exclamation mark should be super same and not opposite. Super dumb yo
what would be the opposite then in a very short way? Programming needs to be short, simple, to the point... and exists for a very long time now. But I agree, it confused me at the beginning as well.

Because "!" denote negation. !true = false. So the real question is why "!" means negation.

na, it was only 2stray lings that they unburrowed in front of. Not likely that Solar looks at them. Like at all, ever. They were just sent to scout for the 4th.
where was that game where mass zergling vs roaches totally crushed the roaches only player? Dunno why it always takes so long that from WCS NA or EU Korean players take over winning strats. Maybe they need to be so methotical that they never use new strats from one day to another

That thing that Tasteless just said was pretty true.

If we'd crown six dragons today, I'd say Zest, Rain, sOs, Parting, herO and MC? I mean Classic (and San I suppose) might belong there on some days but I feel like those six are the most consistently good Protosses at the moment

I've seen it work a few times but it is usually either super long turtle game or 2 factory blue flame helions that straight up win.. But that map is bad for terran in TvZ in general.. If you are not a pro and don't have to use the map in competition, I think it is just better to veto it.
Ok Solar, third time now, on the best possible map against mech, with the best possible spawns, with a pretty good start. If you can't do it now, I dunno Kev.

That could be like a super meta way to play here, start floating cc to gold, make sure zerg sees it, land it again at main and keep mining. Net result: Zerg sits with 8 drones at an empty gold base.

The funny thing is that as zerg you can make a bunch of roaches and outright kill the terran while as terran killing 17 workers doesn't even matter.
As much as I hate Solar's strategy and the result, I really do dislike the stupid gold floating strategy. If this at least prevent terrans from using it, I'm quite content.

funny thing is zerg has drone mechanic and one round of 3 hatches will make the lose go away, it is just how it works, suno relied on a gimmicky attack it didn't work from there it was a foregone conclusion.

I actually like it because it is a variation from your usual reaper expand into reaper-helion-into bio, or reaper-helion-banshee into mech.. Terran really lacks variety so a map that allows for different games is good in my opinion.

It just shows how much easier it is for zergs to recover/execute attacks. O terran attacks are gimmicky? Lets just all play like Avilo then because attacking into swarmhosts is just suicide. Lets never attack till we've got our raven fleet so we can battle with energy units vs free units............

Huh? When you go 2-base roach all-in and kill 17 workers while losing all your roaches to tanks/maruaders, you lose. And when you lose 10+ blue flame hellions to kill 17 workers you also lose. How is that not fair?

Without commenting on Alterzim as a map, that move out onto creep with speed banelings and SH should make Terran cringe.

It's not a variation of anything.
It's an all-in build and one that basically depends on control because there are very few ways to play both as terran and zerg from that position.
I personally dislike strategies where you cannot counter with a better strategy, but only with better micro and control. It's like old MKP 2 Rax. There's no hard counter. Only great micro.

Generally what they do to prevent this sort of stuff is either have rocks or neutral creeps there to prevent CC floating. But in the case of habitation station, apparently they didn't. I'm not really opposed to such design. Having a forward gold base is a good idea IMO. I just don't like the CC floating aspect.

The funny thing is that as zerg you can make a bunch of roaches and outright kill the terran while as terran killing 17 workers doesn't even matter.
funny thing is zerg has drone mechanic and one round of 3 hatches will make the lose go away, it is just how it works, suno relied on a gimmicky attack it didn't work from there it was a foregone conclusion.
It just shows how much easier it is for zergs to recover/execute attacks. O terran attacks are gimmicky? Lets just all play like Avilo then because attacking into swarmhosts is just suicide. Lets never attack till we've got our raven fleet so we can battle with energy units vs free units............

1.typical habitation station terran move, float your main cc to the gold 2.solar scouts it and pulls his drones 3. drones vs scvs, drones outnumber scvs clearly. 4.Solar advances to the ro16 of code s 2014 S2

Wait, so it's what happened earlier in the morning but Solar won instead of SuNo?

Yup, SuNo played out that really bad, his 2 SCVs got caught and he was like 6 SCVs against 9 or something like that. No Micro could save him after the loss of those 2 SCVs.
parting was just flawless in his execution... it was unbelievably good. Shame about supernova but meh we'll have pvp all the way from semifinals, I've assumed that already

Last season there were 2T in Ro16 as well, no reason to think that InNoVation won't make it into Ro16. herO is in relative slump, not speaking about Leenock and Squirtle, who both sadly are past their prime it seems. Also Squirtle isn't type of player who will try to trick you always, even if he's better than you, and Leenock will be just outmultitasked by Bogus.
2T-8P-6Z Ro16 is more than likely. Hope, no 4P groups more, that last one was more than good to expect something similar :D
