Teams go balls out in order to get TO the finals, but then way too many get to the finals and play not to lose instead of playing to win and it just ends up being a snooze fest. I watched bw from like 2009 onwards, and everything you just said applies to sc2 as well. Proxy gates is a bit of a special case since it is far easier to defend when scouted, but that doesn't mean it's skill less. Well, it gives me that feeling, at least, but it wasn't the main point anyway. SC2 PvP I've seen so far is even less viewer-friendly than BW's ZvZ, and that's saying something. It wasn't that bad before HotS, right? | ||

That's just about the worst thing one could possibly do for the longevity of the esport. It would have been far better with everyone getting a fair chunk and the winner only like 20k. Personally, I've always split the pot in the finals if there's been an opportunity and the difference between the first and second place is significant, otherwise there's way too much pressure to be able to play decently. | ||
