Happy Birthday Naniwa! I hope you got what you wanted.

This shouldn't be that surprising. Naniwa has already said more than once in the past month how much he has come to not like playing SC2 and that he doesn't like the game.
That said, if he wasn't interested in competing, he should never have come to the event to start with - it's not that people don't like him (some people do) but he doesn't make it easy when he just decides to quit after one game.
I think it's safe to retire Naniwa as the "foreigner hope" now. If he has no hope why should we?

Well I guess that's it for the foreign scene in SC2.

Got to realise that pro gaming is fucking stressful,
if you are in that booth and you can't bring your A game to the table you just don't want to play and get demolished in 10 minutes.
I think Naniwa realised he just couldn't bring himself to the required level and forfeited. The best decision...probably not. But we have to understand it and not go fucking apeshit on a guy.

Once again Naniwa is the only foreigner to make it to a world's finals. He's not the hero the foreigner scene needs but he is the one it deserves because honestly foreigners suck shit. You were stuck with Naniwa solely because he was the only one good enough to make it to the big stage. Now he's gone and you can cheer for that, but I doubt we will ever see a ro16 at world's that isn't fully Korean ever again.
I'd honestly be surprised if we see a foreigner winning a premier tournament, getting second place, or make it to blizzcon. Hasu and snute are beasts but sadly Koreans dominate sc2 and LoL too hard.

What do you expect? A pat on the back after he shits on the game, takes a spot at one of the biggest tournaments of the year with apparently no intention of even trying, and then forfeiting while taking up main stage time? He didn't 'take a spot', he earned the spot, if someone else wanted the spot, perhaps they should of actually qualified for it? Months and months ago. If he had a shred of class he would have realized, "Hey I don't even like this game and I'm not even going to try at this tournament guess I shouldn't go".

however, his commentary during the game and on twitter is really pointless and reflects terribly on him

Exactly. To me Naniwa is the most succesful foreign protoss player in Starcraft 2. People can hate him as much as they want but I do respect him as a player. No one can take his success away from him. Success doesn´t always include pleasing others.

I'm so disgusted by Naniwa's behavior.

I didn't think he could top the ProbeRush, I guess he just wanted to come here and show us his real worth, I don't see any other reason for him to play the series.
