It was before the patch too in cross positions for example but now a single stalker usually denies a MSC scout even on 2 player maps, at least it always did in my games D:

for now you can set the stream as online or offline, and associate it with events. to turn events on or off or edit their starting times or whatever that's calendar admin+ only afaik but it should be pretty obvious what's on or not if there's a stream there!

Sigh... Classic PvP. It is such a coin flip matchup. It just dampens my day, kind of like Rain does on wet and crappy days. I was excited to see some innovative PvPs today since these are Code S Ro16 matches, but after seeing that first match, all my hope is PartinG to nothing. Then again, you never know since this matchup is so unpredictable. But I feel like I'm watching the first generation of Pokemon games. You know, the Red and Blue versions? It's like, so do I start with charmander, bulbasaur, or Squirtle? You take a risk regardless of how you decide to open.

I would have thought that Rain would lose those fights because he stayed on 3 Colossai for too long but he always had just barely enough other units that the fights were even. Impressive decision making by Rain here
I think Parting has the better composition. 7 more immortals is better than 15 more Zealots. With this many colossai and archons zealots melt too quickly

I think that's the first time I've ever seen to toss armies go head to head and both lose exactly the same (bassically wipe each other out). Normally just one extra immortal or archon can snow ball into a stomp, that was just totally bizzar.
It is really amusing how they keep their probe counts so low. Their armies awesome, but there are no reinforcements and they can't rebuild their armies.

As far as i know, PartinG did not see the probe get out, if you s aw PartinG made a probe patrol Rain's natural. This way to scout and block Rain from making his nexus on the low ground to defend vs cannons in main. Rain moved his probe from the middle of map after seeing cannons spawn back to his natural but around the edges of the gas and saw PartinG there. He then went to the 3rd behind rocks to plant his nexus whilst making Warpgate Stalker and MSC to block any more cannons going down. Stalker kills pylon without getting hit by cannon etc. Thus it was then all about defending for PartinG who invested to much and just had no chance xD

You can imagine the banter that was going on in the team house when these three were preparing PvP builds and stuff. Just watching PartinG cannon rushing all his opponents whilst Rain tries to hold all the cheese and Classic proxying every building he can think of xD

Although Classic handled the zealot-counterharassment very poorly. Warping in 1-2 DTs right away would have done the job. But at the very least run your probes! Instead he let 4 zealots kill 20 probes + a Nexus.

Cool we have one series from not even a month ago. Meanwhile I'd recommend literally every single TvP series from that tournament as amazing except for perhaps Innovation vs HerO and even then it was pretty good.
That kind of sums up my whole point. PvP DOES have the potential to create good games, but they are so few and far between that the stigma remains.

I don't know man, maybe I'm just being honest and pointing out that bias actually exists within me. I'm sure as hell that you weren't enjoying the many exceptional zvz's that used to happen amongst a sea of shit during infestor/broodlord, and will quite often post about how bad the matchup is, and if you don't then someone else surely will. The occasional fantastic game and series just doesn't make the majority think that the match up on average is good, especially after prolonged exposure to 4gate into turtle + lasers. I'm one of the few people that actually didn't enjoy rain vs parting g1, because the novelty of everything being a mirror just isn't that enjoyable to me.

In HotS it has changed a lot. TvT and PvP are pretty close overall. If you like Protoss you probably enjoy PvP more and if you like Terran you probably enjoy TvT more. ZvZ is still probably the worst in most people's eyes.

I have never liked PvP it has nothing to do with how many Protoss are around.
As far as the general majority, it doesn't need much researching to find what is favorable. Go to any live event, watch any stream, watch any Starcraft highlight reel on ANY youtube channel. PvP is followed with less enthusiasm and ZvZ is as well.
TvT is the only mirror that consistently provides games that are praised as best of the year or best of all time. It would be hard for me to argue that it wasn't the best mirror even if I wasn't already in love with it.

Well, wouldn't say that in general. The 4-Gate PvP in WoL was probably the most idiotic matchup of all time. It was simply not possible to get a good match, because they were just 4-gating the shit out of each other. Later on we had a rather idiotic ZvZ time - though with insanely good matches like Life vs Leenock. So... at least it was better than the 4-Gate time. TvT was clearly superior
And with HotS... I don't know... All of them allow for quite good games - but none of them provides them very often :-P
But I can definitely see ZvZ to be rather stupid as a non-Zerg player tbh. But especially Ling/Bane vs Ling/Bane has always been really impressive to me (though really annoying to play as a "normal human being".) :-P
It really is too bad Artosis didnt commentate yesterday. Or else he would have called Parting holding that 2 gate. The reason Parting doesn't scout beyond his gate is cause he's near 100% victory rate against any proxy 2 gate outside of his base.

I have watched a lot of PvP this year. Tonight's were some of the only ones I have actually enjoyed watching. The stigma survives because good recommendable PvP games are still a rarity.
Can you name any other than tonight's that you can remember that you would recommend from this year or last? I can't. I can't think of a single PvP series from last year that stuck in my mind while I can think of at least 10 TvT series that were amazing from just 2013.
PvP might be better than it has been in the past but it has a LONG way to go before it's anywhere near as good as some of the other match ups.

It's the MU with the most amount of openings/tech options, the most exciting early game macro, different harassment options and really tricky army movement/position. IMO it's probably the most punishing matchup, there are so many small mistakes that can just spiral out of control, so that makes it the best mirror to watch for me, by a pretty long shot.

Except that it is not. There aren't anything in PvP that can scare away the larger army from moving forward like the siege tanks and force them to outmaneuver the opponent instead. PvP could be a good MU if we can reduce the amount of "I have two more stakers than you do so I win" games, but I don't think it is very similar to TvT.

The risks involved in early game cutting and getting those two extra stalkers out for that early fight are quite significant though. The mindgames and psychological stunts people pull in PvP is my favorite. TvT is a little similar, but old TvT was mostly a positioning/posturing battle. Still is, in fact.
But for PvP, expansion timings, getting greedy... it truly is the most punishing matchup, which makes it super tense. That's the excitement factor, and that's where I feel mental fortitude really kicks in.
Makes me wish all the more that Flash just played P.

Everyone has different opinions, I agree... With that said, I'd hardly call thinking PvP is best mirror is "clearly an outlier". I wouldn't be susprised if many many people agreed, and wouldn't be shocked if that was the majority. You're probably just tired of seeing protoss everywhere, regardless of matchup lol Part of me is too
I think most people can agree that in WoL it was TvT -------->PvP-->ZvZ
In HotS it has changed a lot. TvT and PvP are pretty close overall. If you like Protoss you probably enjoy PvP more and if you like Terran you probably enjoy TvT more. ZvZ is still probably the worst in most people's eyes.
TvT was good but most people loved the tank vs tank wars while I didn't (not enough variety). Of course it was still a good mirror but I may not have been as much of a fan as most people here. Now I definitely enjoy more PvP.
