How's VortiX been doing lately? The last time I saw him was in NationWars and he didn't look very good at all. If that's the case I think ForGG and BabyKnight will go through.
I can't believe there's still not a separate client with LAN for WCS and other premier tournaments. It's completely ridiculous... I can't remember the last tournament I saw that didn't have at least 1 problem with lag.
VortiX spawns in the top right Lilbow spawns in the top left
2:00 Gateway first for Lilbow. Vortix going gas first before a spawning pool. Lilbow taking one assimilator. Lilbow scouting.
3:00 Cybernetics core and a second assimilator for Lilbow. Vortix researching zergling speed and getting 4 zerglings. Lilbow moving down the middle of the map with his probe. Observer lagging!! Mothership core for Lilbow, and a zealot. Zerglings moving out. Observer is completely frozen. Vortix pauses.
4:00 Game is resumed. Vortix moving out while expanding. Lilbow chronoboosting out a second zealot. Zerglings poking. Vortix taking a third base. Probe nearly scouts the third base but turns around Lilbow building a pylon at his natural.
5:00 Zerglings trying to speed into the main but the second zealot blocks it. Lilbow walls his natural and then takes it. Fourth gateway for Lilbow. Vortix getting a roach warren.

And nothing average.
Even without MSC he was ahead after the first push. He could have killed the hatch and went back home. But he decided to go all the way to the natural and Vortix 2-2 finished and ultras popped out.
So MSC wouldn't make any difference at that time except he could probably recall without losing units but if player is good enough to know when he is overextending (and someone who is in WCS premier should) it really isn't an issue anyway.

He could end game right there if he did use timewarps. Like it usually happen in those situations when Zerg is transitioning in middle of the fight.

He could end game right there if he did use timewarps. Like it usually happen in those situations when Zerg is transitioning in middle of the fight.
I dont know much about PvZ but I think that even with time warps, the best he could do is kill that hatch. But Vortix hive tech was close enough so I dont think Lilbow would win straight up with time warps.

I don't understand how this happens so often. Is it because they all use Skype for communication? Because I heard it is very easy to obtain IP address from Skype..

Geez wtf. I never hear about dota or LoL streams getting DDosed but it seems to happen all the time to SC2. Such bad luck.
then you were not following LoL and DotA get DDosed quite often. Especially the login servers of LoL.
At least it's not same kid who ddosed EG for 3 weeks :D Guess, they're not having fun with DotA now because almost no tournies are alive and LoL is boring. Time to ddos WCS, i get this logic.

Having a few of them to defend drops is good so if you open stargate you could go for them anyway but I don't like them at all as a part of general army composition at all.
I mean, great for Forgg and me as a viewer but that style is just inferior to other options protoss has.

Ok, something's wrong with ForGG today. He lost at least 2 vikings simply because he had them rallied in such way that they flew into BabyKnight's army and got shot before he could control them. I mean, that's a silly little mistake, but still at ForGG's level things like this shouldn't happen, should they?
Stream is working for me they are just having a break again. I would understand it if there were no technical issues before but they should speed things up a bit since they are already behind schedule.
has there been a formal discussion about vasa's casting style? i can't understand a word he says but watch his stream whenever i have the chance, it is incredible

Yeah, Vasa is incredible. He was even better, when ClouD still played and he casted him, the series in last years Vasacast invitational were very enjoyable, despite so´nt understanding a word of italian.

I have to say, Starcraft 2 progamers have become insanely impressive. I remember that one or two years ago, most foreigner play was cringeworthy when compared to koreans, but they have really caught up. IEM was extremely entertaining, and WCS Europe is off to a great start.

It's a new game and it takes a while to learn. Years in fact. Production has also improved by leaps and bounds.
There is still more to go too! And another expansion!

Exactly. Considering how fast things evolved over the past four years, I'm curious where we will be in another four years.

Err, I think you misunderstand me. I don't praise BK for the opening, as it was clearly caused by Vortix's blunder. What I praised was BabyKnight's abilty to exploit that opening. As the casters said, most people wouldn't have grabbed that opportunity. He did grab it, hard, by the balls.

Ah yes, i missunderstood you then. Sorry. I agree with that, the revelation really helped on that as you said. He saw the opportunity and went for the kill
Well I hope that ForGG can make it. But I think even Lilbow wont be that easy and after that it will be BabyK again or Vortix. That are huge odds to overcome.

I have no clue really. Maybe it was one of those maps where everything just goes wrong and after a while you're laughing out loud because you know you are so much behind and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it?

ForGG showed great TvZ recently.. Not sure how good Vortix is at ZvT right now, I know he used to be good in the matchup..
Also, I really like the improved polish stream for WCS 2014 Season 1 (airing from ESL studio in Poland). Surprisingly, this little change makes a lot of difference. You can check it out in the downtime.

I have no clue really. Maybe it was one of those maps where everything just goes wrong and after a while you're laughing out loud because you know you are so much behind and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it?

He would get chased by blink stalkers anyway... The moment that storm landed it was over.

No need to balance whine. That was just a terrible decision by ForGG.
Lilbow lost 2 probes to marine and mine drop while killing it all, killed a tank and scvs for a mship core with blink stalkers and had storm, charge and +1 armor ready for forGG's push. That was a thrashing.

Yeah, I figured. But either that was just a "please, just kill me faster" or he perhaps wanted to speed away or something. Still, it was amusing to watch.

I guess that's what ForGG gets for grouping his units together and pushing before stim
Well he shouldn't have moved out to begin with because he didn't have stim. I just think its silly that two spell casts is an instant loss with no hope for a comeback.

Which opener do we have to use ?
I'm just summarizing, P is clearly favored in the match-up ^^

Pushing into Storm+MSC before stim might have something to do with it.

Walking out in the middle of the map without really having a clue what Protoss is up to.
I dont get it why ForGG, after the defense, does not sit back and gets his sick macro going und just crushes lilbow :////// Why he had to move out ? Seems to be always a bad Idea on a map big like frost.

Terrans still haven't learned you actually can't counter attack protoss after his pressure fails even if they go straight into higher tech.

Yeah, lilbow's opening wasn't gimmicky... and it should be, given the damage potential it has.

It is pretty easy to hold when Protoss is even in supply. Terrans used to go to the mid game with a 15-20 supply advantage is that went no ghosts. But with the limited number of builds you can do nowadays, Terrans no longer have that.
This reminds me of Maru's games. He started so bad but still managed to pull off. I hope ForGG can do it as well, he is obviously on huge tilt since he is tweeting f...ck protoss

how is a terran supposed to beat the warp ins. Everytime you kill the army, wooooooosh 20 zealots and they slice up the rest of your army. A terran needs to win the fight convincingly.
But in the end the better player won and that was Lilbow. Huge props to him.

Lilbow had twice the economy of ForGG
You mean 1 nexus in the nat, no main base and no tech and half the army supply? And then he made a comeback.
I think HerO opened the floodgates of warp prism storms with his series against Polt. Now everyone is going for storm against terran. Before it was just on occasion.

He had the third the whole time, and put ForGG on just his main for quite a while before he started long distance mining from the back third.

Yeah, for quite a while too. I think ForGG lost all the SCVs at his natural when they had a mini base trade. ForGG killed the nexus but didn't kill many workers.

No penalty of going blind blink / oracle / collosis / 3rd base vs instant loss if you go blind ghost vs collosis / blind viking vs templar / blind 3rd base vs blink all in or chargelot archon. ForGG played sloppy only because he didn't blind ghost after seeing blink...
ForGG is that guy who plays really well against tough opposition then rolls over to foreigners. Kinda like Bbyong. Except without the part where Bbyong plays that well his GSL performance was kind of meh.

ForGG killed the main base and the third. Then lilbow double expanded (to third and fourth).

Hold on, reading my own LR so I can remember what happened.
Terran players need to take responsibility for their poor tvp results and stop whining about the spectre of 'imbalance'. Forgg played badly, that's all there is to it.

Nope, ForGG killed that too. He was literally on 1 nexus and a bunch of Gateways for a pretty long time.

Lilbow lost his third and then took it again pretty quickly, also he lost all his gateways and rebuilt them at the third.

Yeah, ForGG definitely played subpar, but why is no one willing to admit that it's a little silly how Terran can never counter Protoss aggression?
Every terran plays silly TvP. They should just play macro games and win, unfortunately there is not a single player that can pull it off.
I guess in this instance after the pseudo-base race ForGG was not in the best position to macro, but yeah... the trouble is, you either play greedy and get all-ined, or live in fear of the all-in and fall behind in macro. Or well, I think Polt strikes a nice balance, and I really don't get why more Terrans don't play like him, because his style doesn't seem that hard to be honest.

Lilbow had+1/+2 on his zealots though. It made them a lot harder to kill. I honestly feel that Lilbow won due to ForGG's mistakes rather than his own skill.
It's kinda funny ForGG REFUSES to build any ghost even after he sees mass HTs and proceed to whine about Protoss... I mean what would happen if Protoss doesn't build any colossi and die to mass hydra every game and goes to say "this game is BROKEN" ...well people will just say NO UR JUST BAD DUH. But against Protoss, it's totally justified to complain about race always?

Feel a little bad on behalf of ForGG. Guess he died along with the Hellbat nerfs Still, it's really hard not to be happy for Lilbow and XMG, nice to see a new player rise to stardom through WCS the same way Bunny did last year.
Protoss is way too forgiving. Whatever they do you can never counter attack because they already have next tech path ready to go.
Same thing happened with Flash when he tried to punish that failed proxy oracle against cc 1st, now that game on Frost as well.
If experienced terrans like ForGG and Flash can't tell when you can actually find an opening to punish protoss who is teching or expanding after a failed opening, I just don't know what to say about those games anymore.
Either all terrans are dumb noobs or there is actually no opening to find.
Not to mention how many storms protoss players have these days, EMP isn't even a counter when templars outnumber ghosts at least 2:1.... Not to mention the never dying chargelots.
Just ban me for 2 days I need a break from this. I just hope ForGG will feel better tomorrow and won't really retire that would be quite a shame.

Haha yeah, I don't mean that it's super easy to play the way he does, but at the same time it doesn't look super flashy or complicated. He doesn't have to split like Maru, his play is just very tactically solid. Who knows what holes this have when the top protoss try to counter it i.e: prepare for a semi/finals
i mean: he looked good on a weekend like forgg looked good 3 weeks ago or so. Imo only Code S decides which styles are viable

It is just almost guaranteed storm damage if you do it right. You can´t EMP HTs in warp prism and it also makes it impossible to stutter step without getting stormed.

Polt's advantages come from two things: His tactical decisions and his hyper map awareness.
His units are always in the right place at the right time and he is able to see the map without using actual scouts or scans. Its not something you can just grind out from endless practice or we would have seen another Terran at least play somewhat similar to him by now.
The only other Terran that I know plays like that is Ryung when hes in extremely good form. Thats it.

Eh... ghosts still do pretty decent damage, and they're more tanky than bio, it's just that they're too slow to retreat with properly so you get fucked if you try to pull back. Pound for pound, HT are just more effective than ghosts, and two landed storms are way more devastating than two landed EMPs, but it's not as cut and dry.
I also feel like the maps really screw you sometimes, like on Polar Night defending as Terran you have no room to kite or split against storms, but at the same time if it's too open like Heavy Rain you get blunk. I dunno, I really think the #2 issue in TvP is maps (#1 being MSC making Protoss too safe pre-12 minutes), but I don't really know what you do to fix these maps.

Polt's army movement is extremely different from any other terran's. He seems to keep 1 more army subgroup than whatever the P has - 2 vs 1, 3 vs 2, etc, and constantly survey for tiny little cracks in the P defense. Most good terrans (even code S level) are still playing for head-on engagements, whereas Polt is playing with bio the way Life plays with lings.

Yeah, it's kind of scary because normally small groups of bio get eaten by protoss balls, but I guess the trick is to never actually engage and just pull the Protoss apart. Easier said than done I suppose, but I still feel like Korean Terrans should be able to pick up that style...

Definitely in the Daedalus game. The Yeonsu game however...
I mean, he held off the two drops plus pressure without taking damage and was quite a bit ahead on three bases versus two and with upgrade lead. Then they semi-baseraced but lilbow stayed ahead on economy, had enough to defend his natural and had a massive bank that finally translated into a victory after he stabilized.
Many protosses have died to terran drops (and doom drops), but lilbow was able to defend well enough AND to keep up pressure on forGG at the same time. I think he deserved the win, and he was quite far ahead before forGG's doom drop (and that advantage won him the game in the end).
That doesn't mean he wasn't favored by game-balance from the start, though

True, he's still a competent pro, he never fell into obscurity (and probably never will) but it's a far cry from the time during the ForGGedon when he had something ridiculous like an 80% win rate and a 95% TvT in professional competition.

loll so true... ghosts are useless once they are out of energy too.
Eh... ghosts still do pretty decent damage, and they're more tanky than bio, it's just that they're too slow to retreat with properly so you get fucked if you try to pull back.
Another issue with ghosts is that if they join in mid battle, they are pretty useless since the zealots are already spread due to charge and they can't really get in range to EMP the HTs coming mid battle. But HTs that arrive mid battle can swing the tide or at least force a pull back from the Terran.
Would be interesting to see them test out the old EMP radius. It was a big issue in WoL because Protoss defense was all about hitting FFs on their natural ramps. And the EMP radius made it too easy to EMP all the sentries with ghost rush. But P defense no longer really rely on that.

Well it is always the losers fault that they lost. Thats a loaded statement.
Polt slept 3 hours a day to create that style. I'm pretty sure its difficult to pull off.
Haha yeah, I don't mean that it's super easy to play the way he does, but at the same time it doesn't look super flashy or complicated. He doesn't have to split like Maru, his play is just very tactically solid. Been trying to learn his style recently, but since I'm a scrub I haven't yet had success with it but I feel like pro Terrans should be able to learn it, no?
Polt's advantages come from two things: His tactical decisions and his hyper map awareness.
His units are always in the right place at the right time and he is able to see the map without using actual scouts or scans. Its not something you can just grind out from endless practice or we would have seen another Terran at least play somewhat similar to him by now.
The only other Terran that I know plays like that is Ryung when hes in extremely good form. Thats it.
And I used to think Protoss should all be able to Soul Train like Parting, but that has never happened.

Or Zergs to use lings like Life or play like Soulkey. If you watch Soulkey games, no one aspect is overwhelming hard to do. It is the entire package.
Lilbow is impressive all over today, good decision making, taking no hostages! BBK better be on top of his game or it is challenger league for him coming up quickly!

I should work on that, increase my quality of reports.
Thank you.

I feel more and more terran pros try to pressure without ghosts or delay them hardcore. This opens up the possibility to make comments like "make more ravens ghosts, dumbass!" Let's just ignore the fact that ghosts slow down aggressive play, make the T put his finger of the trigger and let toss get their dream unit comp.

Eh... ghosts still do pretty decent damage, and they're more tanky than bio, it's just that they're too slow to retreat with properly so you get fucked if you try to pull back.
Yeah, I wish blizzard would revisit some older nerfs instead of trying to change different things. Same with the snipe nerf really, it was stupid how it hard-countered all zerg T3, but now it's stupid that you can't even 1-shot probes.
Lilbow spawns in the top right BabyKnight spawns in the bottom left
1:00 Lilbow proxying a pylon in the natural of BabyKnight. Gateway for Lilbow, and the probe goes back home. BabyKnight getting his gateway at almost the same time.
2:00 Gas for both players. BabyKnight scouting for cannons in his main base. BabyKnight got a second gas. Chronoboost on the gateway of Lilbow. BabyKnight didn't get a zealot.
3:00 BabyKnight sees the gateway. Zealots go into the main base but are only killing one probe.
4:00 Third zealot for Lilbow. BabyKnight finishes his stalker faster.
5:00 Both players getting two more gateways but Lilbow's are 30 seconds faster. BabyKnight kills all the units of Lilbow.
6:00 Robotics facility for BabyKnight. Lilbow going 4-gate but is defensive.
7:00 BabyKnight going for an attack with a proxy pylon. Lilbow trying to kill the stalkers but BabyKnight warps in more.
8:00 Lilbow 31 vs BabyKnight 38 Lilbow still trying to micro against the units of BabyKnight. Lilbow getting lots of zealots.
9:00 Lilbow 35 vs BabyKnight 35 Lilbow holds off the pressure! BabyKnight getting a twilight council. Lilbow going for aggression.
10:00 Lilbow 37 vs BabyKnight 39 Photon overcharge on the main nexus. Lilbow is very zealot heavy. BabyKnight is all stalkers. BabyKnight getting blink.
11:00 Lilbow 41 vs BabyKnight 42 Photon overcharge fades. All of BabyKnight's units have very low health.
12:00 Lilbow 41 vs BabyKnight 49 Zealots vs stalkers. Blink finishes for BabyKnight.
13:00 Lilbow 39 vs BabyKnight 47 Mothership core nearly finishes. Lilbow kills a bunch of probes but loses all his units. Lilbow GG's! BabyKnight ties it up 1-1.

Would be cool if they just made snipe immune to massive units and make it 50 damage.
I mean you don´t use a sniper to take down a massive targets that can take a lot of fire power. There are other guns for that purpose like machine guns.

Not only that, it'd be dumb to snipe probes when ghosts can slaughter probes with just their regular attack.
