Scarlett and QXC are my picks. Would be interesting if they played each other, last time QXC got kind of rolled, but I feel he's improved a lot since then.

I haven't been able to watch this tournament at all because the stream is always giving me problems, either black screen or buffering all the damn time. I pretty much just watch the youtube vods afterwards because at least that works perfectly.
After watching qxc's tutorials on TvZ mech, it's really cool to watch his play. You can see him actually do the things he talks about, like trying to bait the queens out too far so he can try a runby with his hellions. Didn't happen this game, but he tried and it showed.
Too bad the games are kinda unorthodox, would've loved to see these guy play a more standard game. This is entertaining though

Seems they will play, your prediction was correct. I'm also excited for this match - I've seen Scarlett vs Suppy earlier on her stream, and she pwn'ed him badly.
edit - if I'm not mistaken, if Suppy wins versus Kane, and Scarlett wins against qxc, then Scarlett must rematch Kane.

Eh, given how Scarlett vs Kane looked just now, I'm not too stoked about that. I dunno, she just seems...shaky, or rusty. Kane looks like a beast atm, will probably be him and Suppy.
Also, my prediction was for Scarlett and QXC to advance, so it appears I was dead wrong. Maybe Zealously has infected me.
Kane is an interesting versatile player - I'm guilty of not being all that familiar with NA players, will have to read up more about him and study his matches.
Suppy seems to lose against Kane so the rematch will likely not happen.
edit Wow, Scarlett has GOT to see the missing barracks, I feel like that overlord is taking forever.
She won!! See, that's the brilliance of Scarlett. She pulls so much value out of every single unit - THAT is what makes me like her play above others. Pure awesome micro and decision making.

I wonder how many viewers they're getting. I suspect they lose out a bunch that don't find the games with twitch being so dominant and that low sound.. have to set up my sound to max to hear it. About 4500, but if their anti-adblock thing works as intended that's like 9000 twitch viewers in revenue.

If MLG's CPM is the 25 they say, and the adblock rates aren't too high, then its worth a bit more than 9000 twitch viewers (especially in January).
Granted, MLG does have the addition of bandwidth costs/employees to attract advertisers/etc.

Yeah because I need to be very experienced to complain about someone playing a style that is based around surviving until you get the best unit in the game, and then not getting the unit. It's like a zerg playing turtle style in WoL and teching up then staying on roach hydra the entire game.

I read on the TL forums that the mothership core is the best unit in the game.

I don't think he was being sarcastic. It seriously looks like qxc doesn't know how to play late-game Air Terran.

Free units are bad for the game in pretty much every matchup. See 2012 WoL for confirmation. They don't usually affect TvZ though, because most people are smart enough not to mech against Z.

I see. I found it interesting. Sure, SH, could use a tweak (also, I think if they looked less grotesque, people might actually like them more). But, overall, it's been a different kind of ZvT. Keep in mind too, that it is a relatively new style with both Scarlett and QCX unused to playing it. Given time and practice it might get a lot better. Or a lot worse. But, that remains to be seen.

Oh I don't think that OVERALL the game was bad, and both players made interesting strategic decisions, just at a certain phase of the game nothing was happening except locusts getting smeared on the floor and Scarlett killing ~2-3 units per minute by pulling them to the spores.

She didn't have much of a choice, in my honest opinion. She played safe, given that QXC was at that point sort of a bit ahead in tech and units. Then he got the humongous number of b-cruisers, which was way too risky for her.
I mean, these matches are easy to judge but I think everyone would've done the same, with the patient and cautious abductions and all that.

Never said it was her fault in any way. This is how zerg has to play vs turtle mech, You out-turtle the turtle.
Also, it seems kind of obvious that Kane and Suppy know Scarlett very well, she lost three games in a row to extremely aggressive builds in ZvZ to people that are a part of the NA zerg skype group. Please dear spaghetti monster play safe now.

Tbh, I think Scarlett is probably out of practice. The longer she plays the more she recovers her old form, which is why she can still win in the end.

They just die to siege tanks, and they have no attack upgrades either. Better to just spam more static def. It's part of the problem with late game mech, it encourages a play style from Z that is almost completely passive to the point of inactivity once you have established a strong position. Multi pronged attacks and the zergy style of run-bys and harassment are simply ineffective against this style.

You never really fully recover as long as you keep training. I've had and still have injuries like that. My hands are pretty much fucked when it comes to fine motor skills, and that's just how it is now. Look at MVP, he was never really the same again. You could make a similar case for Flash in some ways I guess.

I've actually been once, to Toronto, a friend of mine knows some folks in the NHL so we got a hold of some pretty good tickets. It just seems like a nice place to live. Also I am an outdoors kind of person, and If there is one thing Canada has no shortage of it's space.

Look, fair enough, but you can understand the frustration looking at all the ridiculous damage Major did to Puck. Multiple drops that savaged his economy, 8-10 Widow Mines that racked up 5-10 kills apiece, both Probes and units, up 4 base to 3, and he is undone by one battle where Protoss got a little bit lucky? I mean, you gotta feel for both him and people watching.
Maybe, just maybe, versus the person making fuck loads of Archons and Templar he should have continued to make Ghosts throughout the mid and lategame. Nah, fuck that, lets make more Marines and Marauders and then lose and blame imbalance. It's way easier.

Making more marauder against chargelots is not considered a smart move. Their dps against non-armored unit is terrible compared to marines.
On January 26 2014 11:06 sparklyresidue wrote: What were the upgrades like at the "climactic moment"?
Either 2-2 (Puck) v 1-1 (Major) or 2-2 v 2-1. Something like that. But the upgrades had very little to do with it, because there were literally only Templar followed by morphing Archons involved on the Protoss side when the big hit happened, and Storm ignores armor.

Yeah, Skytoss is usually the way to go. Major had a significant eco advantage in that game, though, from his CC first to a significantly faster third base. I don't think Minigun had much of a window to do much damage, and the consistent pressure from Major meant that he did not have time and resources to safely transition into a Skytoss based composition.

Carriers I think are superior to voidray/tempest. As for what Toss should do, I think he made a mistake with getting that 4th at the close bottom left. Should have taken lhe corners. Mech is immobile, at best Major can send drops, but warped in stalkers +cannons + dts can deal with that fairly easily. I personally like going fast 4 base mass gateways into either triple robo or triple stargate hidden carriers. Archons and hts are nice-ish, but the immortal/carriers way out dps the mech army and if they overcomit to vikings, you can run them over with chargelots.
Of course I'm only talking with about 2 months of experience as I only played MechvP was only popular for about 2 months in WoL.

Would you want to get skytoss? seems like voidray/tempest would be pretty darn good.
Yeah, Skytoss is usually the way to go. Major had a significant eco advantage in that game, though, from his CC first to a significantly faster third base. I don't think Minigun had much of a window to do much damage, and the pressure from Major meant that he did not have time to safely transition into a Skytoss based composition.
Oh yeah seemed like a tough transition to make, but I guess that's the composition you want?
Yeah, along with a Templar/Robo based army on the ground - but the meat of the army is the "Golden Armada".

Major went for hellion/widow mine drop combined with marines and a few scv's for bunkers at Mini's natural. 2 stalkers, an oracle, and a photon overcharge got the GG

I think they need to revamp the entire streaming system or just let twitch handle the big boy work becuase between today and thursday it was fucking ridiculous. Are you seeing a doctor for those gouged-out eyes? Literally removed organs are often a pretty big problem.

I am having absolutely 0 lag on 720p. Don't know what is going on, but it's not something that necessarily originates with them.

He purposefully trolled about 50% of the anime's explanation though, infusing it with elements from various other things that are not present ("Code Geisha", lol).
