Just watched the finals. sOs Protoss play made me watch in awe, absolutely stunning.

Jaedong should have won game 1 and then the series might have looked different, but the defence of sOs... wow.

Regardless of how well Jaedong is playing, there always is someone who is simply stronger in the tournament. You cannot really fault him, with sOs playing the way he did.

Anyway second place won't be enough for him, but I am still inspired. It's just great zerg play.

But sOs, just amazing.

As an old time watcher and BW vet, it's a shame to see all-inning and gambling such a strong part of SC2 as an RTS. Superior mechanics, scouting, and 'a legitimate tactical playing field' should decide the victor.

The amount of bullshit you can pull off as toss is also what really makes watching SC2 unfun for me. While yes this is coming from a somewhat sc2 noob (bw vet), their all-in ability from their extreme mobility at any time despite good scouting (say you just miss that one cliff with a pylon) just defies a lot of the basics of an RTS. It took an Arbiter Tribunal to even reserach recall for what they have now for almost free. Scouting an army moving out, giving time to react, just isn't there. /end noob take on frustrations watching sc2 and BW fan watching BW player lose that last game as he did

I thought so too in the beginning. Now I don't mind the cheese as much and I'm not even sure that it plays a so much bigger role than in bw. What bothers me though is that you never see people claw there way back in a game with better micro and macro in sc2. Its decided super fast and there is nothing that the player that is behind can do to come back.

While comebacks aren't as common in SC2 as they were in BW, the whole "comebacks can't happen due to good play in SC2" is all bullshit. It's hard, yes, but it's supposed to be.

what kind of bs is that? Jaedong beat Maru and Dear convincingly.

i wouldn't say convincingly, because i totally would not be surprised if they both beat him another day. the games were close too.

That basically goes without saying. I also believe Jaedong could beat sOs if they'd play another Bo7 today. These players are so close, and one butchered engagement easily costs you a game or sometimes a series.

In a way, 5 finals and a semifinal within 3-4 months is so majorly impressive. Just not impressive enough, at some point you have to win it all

game 1- JD goes for a roach hydra viper timing on akilon (the hardest map to break a turtle player on) and then transitioned into ultralisks when that didn't kill SoS (and after seeing that SoS already had a solid 3 base econ and sim city).

game 2- the cannon rush puts JD significantly behind but his idea of "coming back" consists of going double spire against SoS after scouting double stargate (I think)... either way SoS is known to love playing SG macro games

game 3- JD wins with solid mechanics even though he doesn't realize SoS is on an extra saturated base the entire game

game 4- JD scouts one gas and a warp prism and proceeds to get 54 drones vs 30 probes

game 5- JD's lings miss a probe that goes right in front of them and drops a proxy pylon. Then he loses the game to a zealot warp in

Nothing against you but holy god, when will people learn that he's sOs, not SoS????????

Driving me crazy yo.

Someone was doing it earlier, and I think it was more to poke at the fact sOs was "faceless" and as such noone knew even how to spell his name.

I genuinely thought Jaedong had the title with Bomber and Maru gone, glad sOs won however, he was the player that made me decide to play Toss cause of his mind games.

Jaedong's day will come one day, I'm sure of it, he's too good to not get an SC2 title.

and what did I say? I keep telling you guys it was sHy he had to look out for. You just climbed one summit in Dear and now you have to make it all the way back to base camp, which is a lot harder. Dear and sHy are two protoss players you do not want to meet back-to-back because of their unpredictable nature and it's a steep climb. Both of them are doing crazy things with their race atm.

We might never really know who the "best player in the world" is since it seems a different player wins the big tournaments every season. But at least there can be no doubt about the identity of the second best player in the world!!!

I've just rewatched the vods. Anyone has thoughts on the gg timing in the last game? I mean JD's bases were still untouched, he had the supply lead and killed all of sOs's colossi (with those gg timings, you sure have no chance of watching comebacks).

The overall impression is that, even without the cheese or the mindgame factors, the level of play of JD wasn't stellar. That is the better player won.

Thinking something like 150k counting all streams + Blizzard stream. I think there were also Chinese streams and an OGN stream for Koreans so I guess the actual number may actually be higher, but I doubt we'll be hearing anything concrete on the matter
