Rain died to the prodigy known as Maru. Hero was ignominiously taken out of America by a failed cannon rush. And though Duckdeok and Naniwa took Europe, they were both proven to be stepping stones for those at the season finals. The Protoss no longer had a champion. All of their champions had died. Even age old legends finally turned in their badge, players like Bisu and Jangbi could no longer go on. A midst this disaster, only one player stood up.
It would not be the cash eating zombie, MC that would once more take on the burden of the entire Protoss race. It would not be who was formerly known as the Soul Train either. No, it would be a completely unknown player from the back of the B-team Bench of CJ entus who would rise and take the torch for the protoss race.
Game after game, Sora would dominate. Killing JKS in the first round, Fantasy in the 2nd, the evil villian Shine in the 3rd and even taking out Bomber in the 4th. This run could not be ignored and only one question could be asked, "WHO IS SORA?"
And what a question it was. Not even his family knew what he was up to until he had already made the quarterfinals of WCG. And once more we asked, "WHO IS SORA?" We watched in disbelief as he continued his streak killing Curious, killing Gumiho, killing Soulkey to meet the Train in the finals. He had gone 14-0. He went from the back of the bench to the ace of his team, and we asked in disbelief, "WHO IS SORA?" For we could not believe a challenger for the throne of Protoss could appear with neither fanfare nor warning. And though the Train formerly known as Parting would end his run, it came to be that we finally knew who Sora was. He is the answer to Life, the answer to Maru, the answer to Creator. He is the boy king that will take his race upon his back. He is the next generation and his time is now.
WHO IS SORA? He is Aiur. And he is coming.
tl'dr:
Sora will probably get killed by Labyrinth 2-0 in the final set to qualify for Code A.
Well at least there's a thread for this one. Shame the same couldn't be said for the NA qualifiers... even though there were some really good games. DesRow advanced to Challenger for the first time, awesome for him, and FXO.Lucky looked extremely impressive securing his spot.
So, apparently there has been a format change or something else we don't know about.
The CNCE page for the qualifiers has been posted, and it shows only two sessions with six groups each for a total of 12, well down from the 23+ expected. (Assuming the usual 16 players per group stays, this also means a maximum of 192 total participants, but should mean the brackets are filled with less byes than the last couple.)
Thinking out loud, perhaps the format has changed to group finalists advance? Although this would result in 24 players which I think is one more than the number of open spots unless there has been another withdrawal.

Anyone know what's happening?
Didn't a few players in gsl retire? Probably filling those empty code a slots. Flying and jangbi were both taking slots I think.

Without JangBi and Flying we need 24 players qualifying to have enough players for Code A.
On September 21 2013 19:05 xpaperclip wrote: Oh yeah, I forgot about Flying. Group finalists advance makes sense then.
I think on LP we should still make 24 groups.
Yeah, that might not be a bad idea so we can keep the X defeats Y headings. I guess we'll see how GOM presents their brackets tomorrow and try to be consistent.
I only wonder about one thing: will Woongjin b-team go all the way to qualifying match and choke there or not :D? Also, go Sniper, Mekia, ZerO, BrAvo and KiTTY
So Jaehoon, Jangbang, Mini, LighT, s2, Best and Bisu no longer participating.....sad man.. And knowing KT players will fail anyways (damn it baby..why sacrafice your individual success :<)..who in the world do I have left to cheer for? Zero? Hydra? skyhigh? Stork? maybe oov would like to try qualifiers to get a feel for the game : ).

So, like Dual Tournament format from Ro4?
do we have a bracket template we can use for that? I don't think we have one afaik :O

I don't think so... should we keep this split groups thing then use a group table? Or another 4DEBracket?

it seems groups would be best as the top 4 of each group operates the same as gsl style groups
Both players have proxy pylons on opposite sides of the maps. Sora gets good scouting. Madbull moves in with more army supply but Sora had a immo and nexus cannon so pushed him back.
Oracle in main base of SORA killing probes, SORA's 3 gate pressure catches MADBULL offguard MADBULL warpgate research is late, void ray cannot hold, GG
Khaldor said the winner of this (Sora Madbull) is directly in code A, but if there are gsl style groups that's not really the case, what am I missing? =D

You're missing the fact that a Korean SC2 journalist posted the format in this thread and Khaldor hasn't been told the new format yet.

Unless double elimination progress in semifinal doesn't mean double elimination starting from semifinals, then I don't know.

Actually I missed that there is only one day of qualifiers instead of the usual two, so we can get 12 qualifiers in a morning session without it being problematic (thought the Ro4 would be a merge of A1-A2, but if there is only one day it will be Ro4 of A1 and Ro4 of A2).

I'm actually thinking now 4 x 4SEBracket + (4SEBracket/2LBracket) show the information best but laying this out on the page is a nightmare.

Hey, ZerO, Mekia, Sniper all advanced? Hell yeah! Remember seeing Mekia playing Bomber@WCG qualifiers, that derelict game made me laugh so hard in the end. EDIT: By the way, ZerO must to get to Code S now to troll Soulkey about latter not being able to qualify from Code B :D
My mother contacted me the day before yesterday to tell me that my grandmother (on his mother's side) was about to pass away. So I hurried over to the hospital so that I could see her, but I unfortunately had to come back home early because I had the qualifiers to prepare for. Because of this, I told myself that I would dedicate the winner's interview to my grandmother, where I would have stated that I was grateful for everything, that I knew how much she suffered, and that I hoped that she would have passed on to a better place.
However, since I lost in the final round, now all I feel is embarrassment, disappointment, and anger at the fact that I have to wait yet again for the next qualifiers. However, even more than all of that, I am so sorry to my parents and my relatives who lied to me and told me that my grandmother was alive and well, and that I should hurry up and come see her, even though she had passed because they feared that such news would disrupt my concentration during the qualifiers.
Furthermore, I am sorry to my grandmother that I was such a terrible grandson who was never able to do anything for her. I am sorry that I couldn't even stand by her bedside while she was passing away. It killed me to see my grandmother in that kind of condition lately so I really believe that my grandmother has passed on to a better place.
Honestly, I probably could have kept all of this to myself, but I felt the need to post this because I wanted everyone who knows me and all my fans who have cheered me on to join me in wishing my grandmother a farewell. She was proud of her pro gamer grandson and loved me for it. Thank you.

would not work, if he played flash twice early, its like in the loosers match only possible so the looser is out, if he wins all he cant play him twice early

I mean, look. 2 0 Flash in Ro24. 2 0 Flash in 1st match of Ro32 group, then Flash gets out of it somehow. and they end up in same Ro16 group. Parting loses to Sniper and then Sniper 2 0s Flash yet again. It can work out.
