It's noteworthy that this performance puits Hyun and JD 17th and 18th in WCS point rankings, almost solely on points based outside WCS. It would be quite fun (albeit unlikely) if the grand finals were won by someone who qualified without really doing anything in the regular WCS

Grats to Hyun, though! Grats to Goswer too-- It seems like he got overshadowed.
Actually he'd have won it (maybe), if he wasn't the GREEDY player.. I mean we all know that triangle: AGRESSIVE/CHEESE > GREED > STANDARD > CHEESE, but it was like 90% obvious that he should've played Standard there.. What a dumb thing to say... people who are not professional boxers do comment on performance of guys like Floyd Mayweather, amateur football players discuss how well teams like Barcelona or MU did in their games, couch dwellers share their thoughts on MLB or NHL games. This is a normal thing all over the world.
Somehow on TL every now and then a wild prophet must come up bashing people for doing exactly the same things but in esports context. How disappointing.

To be fair most commentators and analysts in sports media have played their respective sport some what professionally. I can't stand personalities like Skip Bayless, Jackie McMullen, or the many pasty journalism majors on the online media. Their interviews and insights on events are so off base and clueless that it isn't worth reading. On the other hand, reading stuff from retired scouts (Bucky Brooks), Hall of Fame players (Warren Sapp), and retired coaches (Jon Gruden, Ditka) are a real treat. However, I guess it is in the spirit of TL to be free with ideas and comments, especially since it is an online forum.
The comment that quoted was terribly written, it is funny when people get very upset about a one-liner. eSports seems to think that they are such a new thing that they don't need to take lessons from and work on becoming more like mainstream sports media. It is backward thinking like yours that keeps the community from being recognized as a real entity, not just a gigantic sinkhole that is being funded by a bratty heiress and nerds without jobs.

Everybody can comment on it and think about what the athlete could have done better. Does not mean their opinion is actually true or worth anything.

TL is community website and community is mostly based on scrubs. Yeah, there is quite a few pro-gamer posters here (the Liquid or Acer players for example) but you really shouldn't expect that you will see THEM posting in a LR thread about a tournament they are actually playing in.
A live report thread is more like a pub - you come here, stick around, shout out more or less reasonable things, argue about them and have a good time. The opinions voiced here may or may not be clueless. It alright to ignore them and it is alright to argue with them. Now can you imagine someone walking into an actual pub right after sports event and shout something like "everyone who is not a professional player STFU! You are not allowed to speak about the game."?

The thing is, basically everyone plays in WCS, so it's hard to conceive of a player that doesn't go far enough in WCS to get significant points, and yet still manages to smash everything else enough that he gets to be top 16 overall

I understand it is in the spirit of LR to have informed opinions as well as uninformed opinions. Since it is an online forum there is no getting around it. I'm fine with it and expect it. I completely support that people have the right to discuss it and support things as they wish, it is in the spirit of eSports and especially TL.
Just like in any bar, there are few drunk fucks in a group that tries to set the mood, that believe since their post count is very high or have been in the community the longest believe their opinion is right every time. It is the exact reason why I hate to watch Bowl games or playoff games with loudmouths. Most of the time I watch games with high school buds that played football with me or at least someone that participated in athletic competition to a high enough level to understand the physical scale/dimensions that players have to deal with. It is the same with Starcraft, I don't enjoy watching with people that dabbled with some scrub games trying to claim stupid shit like Marines IMBA, someone played like shit, and someone should've won (especially foreigners).
