Scarlett beat HerO with both playing from KR on NA
Jim probably has worse lag from China than the Koreans

Yeah. Also, I think it's generally accepted that lag doesn't play a big role in KR to NA games.
Even during difficult times, when I sat down to play the game, there were times where it felt like god has descended down and played [for me].

Happy for Minigun but holy smokes was that sloppy play. WCS Amateur over here. (Eh, maybe that was too harsh to be honest).
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

It's one of those questions that keep me up at night: Should casters point out the mistakes and criticize bad play (Khaldor-Wolf style) or should they try to focus on positives?

Minigun's stargate PvT is pretty cool to watch though, and it worked really well for him today so congrats! Still think he should stop building them lategame though, especially once they were just being rallied into death.

Right!?! Tough to say, it kind of has to be done on a game by game basis. I mean, if its a big finals game then you gotta focus on the positives, and I suppose there's something to be said for the underdog story being better if the negatives are forgotten... That said, the lack of micro in that last game was kind of rough to watch at times especially when the casters are lauding the play so much.

I think you can do both without harping on the negatives or hyping the positives. I think the latter annoys me more. Storms are rarely "good," most of the time it's bad dodging.

I'm of this same opinion. I'll stress the word opinion because it's just that; however, I feel that when every play is hailed as great it really lessens the wow factor of plays that are actually amazing.

To be fair, I dont think this foreigner advancing distribution is too surprising so far. The first group I think it was more of Oz getting through rather than HerO from what people would have expected (hey I could be wrong and maybe most people thought it would be HerO + Oz but my gut feeling was HerO + Scarlett). Then in the second group it wasn't really surprising to see Jim advance over Nestea considering Jim has looked very strong in his games and him reaching #1 on KR GM. Today, while still an upset, also wasn't a complete shock imo considering how close Minigun got to beating Apocalypse last season.

Theres a guarantee for 1 more foreigner to advance with Group D having 3 foreigners + Jaedong. Next best chance is probably Demuslim over TheStC or Crank. Suppy and theognis are going to have their work cut out for them against aLive and Sage. mOOnGLaDE and XY are most likely screwed against TaeJa and Polt although it's not impossible, just unlikely. Then Top is in a group with 3 Koreans. I think we'll likely see 5 foreigners in the Ro16 (same as last season).

The 5 being: Scarlett, Jim, Minigun, Snute, and Demuslim imo

Yeah, after looking at the rest of the groups, I would agree that this is likely to be the case.

I really got the impression in that last series that nerves were getting the better of both players. It was a pretty intense situation for both to be in and it looked like some of their decision making and control suffered. I've definitely seen both players play much better games than that.

But congratulations to Minigun for the big win and advancing.

It also helps that the foreigners in this season of WCS America are far better than the invitees of last season. State, hellokitty, Capoch, Fenix, Maker, and Killer are nowhere near the level of puCK, DeMusliM, and the Chinese players.

It's unfair to lump State and Killer with players like Maker and Capoch. State and Killer both were able to beat Koreans in Bo3
