His cockiness (especially with his lings) was going to backfire and low and behold. It's been months and he keeps dropping out of the most prestigious tournament just like Leenock. They go hand and hand. Both are innovators, but both are floundering. On June 26 2013 03:34 arkedos wrote: I think winning MLGs back to back is a sign of decline. He hasn't looked as unstoppable as he did when he won his GSL, but hes got a 76% winrate in June and the 2nd highest rating on aligulac. I agree he may not be in championship winning form, but I definitely don't think he's slumping.

I agree he may not be in championship winning form, but I definitely don't think he's slumping. I didn't say slumping. I said decline. Decline and slumping are two different ideas and the sample size we have of his games are relatively small, so I wouldn't read too much in them especially when you toss in international events because that's a good way to pad your stats. As for the whole months thing, a couple months is a pretty long time in SC2 terms. There's just a whole lot more going on in this scene whereas BW was pretty succinct. Anyway, I'm glad Fantasy proved me right and pulled it off. As for the rest, props to LosirA getting by a toss and for First managing to break out too. It's going to be an interesting month. Against other top notch Koreans both Life and Leenock (my so-called two innovators for zerg by the end of Wings) haven't been up to snuff & with how the game is and will continue to change. It's only going to get harder to remain at the top spot.

But for stalkers vs hydras he did some pretty good pressure with that blink micro and ff!! ... next time jangbi will do it better I hope. meanwhile he will rule proleague !! His play in the game vs Fantasy was... uninspired, at best. Didn't catch the last game though so I dunno about that one.

Last time I checked March 2013 was over several months ago. huehuehue He won the first HotS MLG only 3 months ago, and since then the following has happened: Elimination from GSL in the Ro16 by Innovation and Parting (this happened after he beat Parting 2-0 in their first match, mind) This very important qualifier, which includes wins over Hurricane, Gumiho, Bboong and Flash. A 3-kill in GSTL over Maru, Byun and Creator Two bad days in GSTL (losses to San and Ryung) Advanced from his group in RSL with wins over qxc and Hero A bad weekend at Dreamhack (we all know the story) Elimination from yesterday's OSL 0-2 I know people are quick to call "SLUMP!" and I agree that Life hasn't played very well the last few weeks, but it's hardly "been coming" for several months. "Several", by the way, can certainly mean 3.

"Several", by the way, can certainly mean 3. That's the problem when I said for months. I mean the last few months. Few means 2. Several means 3. June, May, April March. That MLG run was four months ago. Notice how I also said in SC2 considering there's so much more going on it means everything is more condensed compared to BW. So a couple of months is a fairy long time and yes I remember the 3-kill very well considering my GSTL team consists of only IM & Startale players (boy do I suck at Fantasy leagues now). The root of the problem Life faces is the fact he is the cockiest Zerg player I've ever seen (that's a good thing and a bad thing). That's why he's losing a lot of ZvZ's. You have to wheel the kid in if he's going to find that same success.

And Life has been on and off in HotS. He has lost important games in the GSTL, he is on a quite bad run the last few weeks and it's easy to rationalize his MLG victory away as the product of a lack of understanding of HotS by his opponents. He did get to the finals of the Asian Indoors qualifier, so presumably he has the capability to do well in HotS, but there certainly seems something off about his play just now. Perhaps it's lack of practice time for a new game thanks to school. Or maybe it's more serious and the results show that some of his success can be attributed to his idiosyncratic play style that has lost some of its power in HotS, with nothing yet to show for it in return.

Especially if you have blinks to chase them. But it IS damn harder to kill them now with the regen increase. Sentries have always been viewed as generally pretty useful against mutas because of Guardian Shield being absurdly good against their attack. Wouldn't like to try pure sentry vs muta though. A mix of sentries and stalkers would do better. Well yeah, of course guardian shield is good against mutas, but he seemed to be saying that you just mass sentries to beat mutas.

Sjow yes but ZvZ I don't think is a good mu to judge anything off of. Not to mention TLO only lost to Tajea 3-2. I didn't see the Sjow game or his ZvZ today but his game against fantasy he didn't really play poorly

On June 26 2013 05:47 Ammanas wrote: btw, when I scanned through the recommended games in this thread and also in last week ones, there are far more recommended games (on average) then any GSL threads I remember. Like in this thread only, 7 out of 10 games are recommended, and 5 out of those are highly recommended. That's 70%. I don't remember seeing any GSL thread (besides maybe the last group of death one) with 70% recommended games. So the theory about Bo1 producins slightly more tense/better games may be the case here... Also I think that Bo1 doesn't actually suit this format too much and would be much better with last OSL's format (round robin groups with 1 game per player per day), it could potentially produce even better games. nah there have definitely been GSL groups with votes like that, it's just at the end of WoL games were a bit stale and since then we've only had one GSL (the last one) which was pretty good

Kinda disappointing to see great players like JangBi, sOs, or Flying miss out for some random nobodies to make it through.

Sad to see the fan favorites get knocked out, but it's good that the players that haven't hit it big in HotS are stepping it up. I was 1/4, First was my only correct prediction. Bad day for LB after getting a bunch of SPL predictions in a row right. On June 26 2013 10:12 EFermi wrote: Wow.... Every single Terran so far has made it into the ro16. Looking through the brackets, the closest thing to a random nobody to make it through is Bbyong. Don't know what you're on about.
